Great listening! One of the best AOR/Hard Rock albums of the year IMO. Pat Torpey brought credibility, and the guys kept the high level reached with debut album. An exceptional production plus a great set of songs, and you have a very enjoyable record. The Thin Lizzy cover is the only negative point, since their own songs are much more valuable than making covers. Check it, right now!

From: aorjocke Date: November 23, 2004 at 15:02
Best AOR album of the year, absolute brilliant! I just love this kind of albums when every track is just great.I think their debut was very good, but this is so much better in every way...prouduction is clear, added a real drummer, and in my opinion Jeff has improved in the lead vocals too! Favourite songs are...."Madeline","Don't Turn Back","Long Way Home" and the Japan bonus track "Love of My Life". Pure AOR with plenty of dutt dutt keys in the songs is to me just the way I like it...a must buy!

From: Geoff Date: December 9, 2004 at 19:52
Okay, after a few months of listening I think I've decided I just slightly still prefer the debut over this one. I love that there's a real drummer on this one, and the song quality is just as high, but IMO the debut just has a couple more gems. That said, 'Hardest part of all' is my fave Outland song thus far. Basically, if you love the debut like I do you'll love this as the songs sound almost from the same sessions. Great CD, awesome band. Hope there's plenty more!!! Highly recommended.

If you have seen aorjocke comments on this album, all I can do is echo them !!! Superb cd !!!

From: TIM (2) Date: January 11, 2005 at 2:51
Nice to see Dan & HH getting a thank-you on the credits for this. Quality AOR release this one, and one of my top 5 albums from 2004. It's pure AOR the way it ought to be played, and is unashamed to sound about 20 years old with layers of keyboards very much in the Survivor mould. "What in the World", "How Many Times" and "The Hardest Part" are the highlights, as is the Jap bonus track "Love of my Life". High class stuff indeed, but the 3rd FINAL FRONTIER album leaves this for dead... 8.5/10.

WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT : BEST ALBUM OF 2004 ! Superb, eighties inspired AOR, with lots of keys and great songs. My compliments, guys ! And dear Tim(2) : I've also the new Final Frontier, but I have to disagree with you ! This one knocks the new FF down in one second ! So much better and classier !

From: Erik Date: January 16, 2005 at 6:30
I dont think it does bands justice to compare them but if you do well then try and keep things in the right perspective. Outland is a very good release but Final Frontier does top all the bands you mentioned Aorjocke. Anyways its all a matter of personal taste and lets just hope all these bands will release their great music for years and years to come. Cheers.

Wowowowowowow, several great releases in 2004, this one may be my number 1 for the year. Great, melodic rock with fantastic vocals, choruses, and great solos to make this a great AOR rock release. Listened to this one about 10 times in a row, then more!!!! One of those rare cds that you enjoy from start to finish, then over again!!! Wonderful!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: January 30, 2005 at 3:56
No doubt : album of 2004 ! And to the unknown here : my number one too ! To Erik : this Outland release blows away the new Final Frontier, and I like that band. But Outland is without any doubt the best new AOR band by miles. Even Final Frontier can't touch 'em ! (production on the new Final Frontier is not that good, Erik !).

From: Swriter Date: January 30, 2005 at 10:25
sorry bout the no name AORfreaky, oops, I agree with you, some great releases but Outland's Long Way Home has to be the best of the year to me without any doubts!!!!!! It has been a long time for me when I can actually listen to a cd all the way through without passing on a few, just Fantastic!!!! other tops for 04 from me are, Over the Edge, Stage Dolls, James Christian, Shadows Fade, P Lions, From the Inside, Ladder, Shadowman, Final Frontier, Dakota, Stan Bush, TNT, and the reissues RPM and Fo

Disagree at your peril !!!

From: AOR freaky Date: January 31, 2005 at 6:38
Thanks, Swriter ! Great to see that I still have some friends here, and not only enemies. The only thing I'm doing is always giving my honest opinion about a record. Some can't stand that critical touch. A pity ! You can learn a lot about it, and I admit I still can learn a lot of things !, fromt other comments and views. But it's nice to have an own vision, an own character, an own opinion. Best, Swriter !

From: Swriter Date: February 16, 2005 at 18:48
well, it has been a few weeks and I was knocked out by this one, but did the excitement last??? man, I am addicted bad!!!! It has been a while since I have had a cd that I play and then play over right after that listen. This is just a great melodic rock album that reminds of the great 80's but is very original and is, no question, my fav cd of 04!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: February 17, 2005 at 3:52
Mine too, Swriter ! BRILLIANT, I repeat it again, stuff ! It's like the eighties were never gone !

This is good, this is very good. After the very average 'Different Worlds' release, i have been putting off getting this. I finally gave in and am glad i did. This is so much better. Firstly the songs - better written, more hooks. Secondly - real drums, giving the whole thing a much much fuller sound and better production. Lots of highlights, but 'Madeline'(dut dut keys anyone) and 'Love Ain't the answer' just edge it. As i said before,a very pleasant surprise after the so so debut.

From: Rob Date: April 17, 2005 at 11:11
Good stuff musicwise. It's the singer that makes me dislike the album. I just can't get used to his vocals. If this is eighties stuff, where the perfect singer? This is definetely not one of the highlights from 2004. Instead listen to Final Frontier, Stage Dolls or Pride of Lions.

From: Erik Date: April 24, 2005 at 3:31
I liked their first album. Not over spectacular. But just liked it. Yesterday i got my copy of this one. And this is soooooo much better. Excellent production. They seem to get better and better by each release. Its just a very good album. Hooks, layers, catchy tunes. Its all there. Yeah a not expected higlight for me. Now i am listening to the new Heartland.......

Great AOR album, Another Work from Outland and this is better than first release, un Tremendo album de hecho mejor que su anterior trabajo y sin duda uno de los mejores de este año, una obra con un sonido actual y a la vez con esa atmosfera de los 80, grandes cortes como Borderline(my fav, mucha fuerza), The Hardest Part, Love Ain't the Answer, How Many Times, Madeline... un trabajo muy completo, un disco recomendado 100% sin duda lo disfrutaras. saludos del Legendario Ave Fenix.

From: PAUL Date: October 14, 2005 at 4:43
I can't agree more with the above comments. The best AOR album of 2004 together with "shine" and "the destiny stone".Pure 80's AOR in survivor's vein with great production, tracks and musianship. The way i like!

From: swriter Date: November 9, 2005 at 21:29
again, a great release, I wonder why I have been seeing this one on best of lists for 05???? when was this officially released, 04 or 05???? hmmmm, GREAT ONE!!!

From: Erik Date: November 10, 2005 at 10:55
swriter this is a borderline one. Released in december 04 .

From: juan carlos Date: December 31, 2005 at 19:38

From: Figge Date: August 5, 2007 at 15:57
Pretty standard 80s tinged AOR. The music and songs are ok.....but the vocals?! I mean, seriously....the VOCALS! How can an album with a singer like this be so popular and named "album of the year"? I can't for my life understand this. The cover of "Hollywood" is terrible. But to each his own, as always.

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: October 8, 2007 at 23:36
Otra joya que sera icono para los siguientes años un muy buen albun un decente trabajo que nos ofrece 'Outland' de encantan los temas de Boderline, How many Times y The Hardest Part of all en si todo el albun esta cañon..

From: lalorock Date: October 21, 2007 at 14:55

From: AOR1 Date: February 1, 2008 at 9:33
Simply fantastic melodic rock! great vocals, fine keys, memorable + catchy songs. tried to mail the band but the addresses failed. so I think the band doesn´t exist any more. Anyone with some information? When + why did they split????

From: Photochromic Steve Date: September 24, 2008 at 17:47
The vocals strongly remind me of Huey Lewis. There's plenty of high quality AOR here.

From: BDrums1971 Date: June 22, 2010 at 1:41
Huey Lewis? What are you listening to? The vocals kind of put me off as well, seemed kind of nasally, with a 90's feel to it (the vocals, not the music). After getting used to it, it's not that bad, tho. A better singer IMO would have put this over the top, but as it is, is pretty good. Good songs, good vocal lines, good playing. 8.5/10.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 28, 2010 at 14:39
Yeahhhh !!!,great album in the same line as the debut perhaps a bit more solid but generally in the same vein..."Borderline" opens fire excellently,"Love Ain't The Answer" is another excellent track,a fave and with a nice title that says it all ,"The Hardest Part Of All" is a wonderful piece of AOR,smoothie,"Madeline" is solid and a highlight,"How Many Times" is a nice one,"Long Way Home" has a strong early Bon Jovi feel to it and some little vintage keys that remindes me of early Whitesnake and Deep Purple,"Somebody Just Like You" is a normal ballad,it would have been better if it had been edgier,"Turn Some Pages" is pretty cool,"Don't Turn Back" is another fave and the Thin Lizzy's cover "Hollywood" is the "rock" number of the album...Pat Torpey from Stan Bush & Barrage and Mr Big fame played all the drums here..Prentice and Nishida did another great album!..waiting anxiously for a third release a.s.a.p!.94/100..

From: z4roxx Date: November 19, 2010 at 14:11
I am a little bit surprised about comments here.Musically the songs are easy, made of generic tunes's a recommended band.I can't believe the drummer is Pat Torpey:drums are really poor.8,5/10????

From: Luciano86 Date: February 24, 2012 at 0:58
Borderline,Love Ain't the Answer,The Hardest Part of All,Madeline,How Many Times,Long Way Home,Turn Some Pages,Don't Turn Back and Love of My Life, my fav 96/100
