| So the Ryche get a spot on HH? Why not. This offering is my fave, mostly for its blatent Floyd leanings and grand structures. Not a tap-a-keg type party rok disc, more a light-a-fatty and mellow out affair. The title track is epic and "The Bridge" could have caught on rok radio if grunge wasn't infecting everything. Well worth a listen if you haven't checked it out.

| The clear sound of a band well past their peak. If Operation: Mindcrime was their Sergeant Pepper, then this is definitely their Let It Be. Some brief moments of excellence and, hey, lets not get nasty about it..every band hits a crest and then slowly fades. Just don't waste your hard-earned wages listening to them doing it!!

| The beginning of the end for Queensryche. Long gone were the power and passion of previous albums. On this album, Queensryche found themselves as a band from a past era trying to sound modern and relevant. I like this album but it (and everything since this one) do not even come close to Mindcrime, Empire, Rage for Order, etc.

| This CD gets mixed reviews from fans because Queensr˙che has broader musical taste than most of their fans. I see why devoted metalheads don't like it much: the music here is mostly not as heavy as Mindcrime and the earlier work. But the music is composed and played very well, the album is well constructed.. and there is some metal (I Am I, Damaged, My Global Mind), it's just more quirky than previous Queensr˙che. Don't expect straight up metal, and I think this is their most rewarding album.

| Queensryche once again revisits the concept album. Promised Land is about the total life cycle of a young man and his journey into the real world. The lyrical matter is deeper and far more personal covering themes that hit home for several band members. The approach is once again experimental in nature and totally erases the accesibility and warmth from Empire. On the 1995 world tour, the band presented the album as a sort of sequel to Mindcrime once again using the same protagonist, Nikki!

| Queensryche have always been a band about evolution. No 2 albums are written, recorded, or performed the same. Each album leading up to Promised Land illustrates that artistic growth. But Promised Land also shows a huge step forward that leaves a lot of Queensryche fans slightly puzzled. I applaud their desire to challenge themselves and their fans but the resulting sound loses the intensity and the classic metal feel of previous efforts. Real good album but not as good as previous albums.

| The big turning point in the band, as they all of a sudden lose the ability to make good tunes. Their Pink Floyd infatuation sticks out a little too much here as they become quite mellow. A band on the down side of their career. 5/10

| Very good concept album, just not up to par of the past 2 releases, "Operation:Mindcrime" and "Empire". The songs on their own are very good starting with "I Am I", "Disconnected", "Promised Land" and "Damaged". Good album worthy of picking up. Just don't expect "Mindcrime 2". That's coming out in 2005 (hopefully).

| Hey Rycheage, I just saw Queensryche on 10/28 and they preview the new single from the next album. The track is called "Hostage" and it sounded like more of a return to the classic Queensryche sound as opposed to the last 3 albums. Still had a modern edge to it but it was definitely Queensryche all the way. Catch them on this tour if you can...they did a kick ass 1st set of hits and then the whole Mindcrime album. Unbelievable show!

| Amen brother! Luckily during their shows, they stuck to older material which was awesome (they played 1 tune from Tribe and 1 from Q2K and the rest was from 'Empire' on back.) 'Promised Land' was the last good Queensryche album. The new track sounds like maybe they are reverting back to that intensity from the 80s that they lost after 'Empire.' It was hard to hear w/ everyone screaming, but what little I heard sounded pretty cool. Keep your fingers crossed...

| OUCH! This one hurt. Couldn't tell if this was music or my window was opened and I was hearing some God awful noise, which sometimes happens to band members when they forget who made them rich and want to go into another direction. Mistake!!! Note to QR: Go in a different direction, lose loyal fan base. Don't buy this one! My resulting poll number is 2/10.

| From this album I like the song 'Bridge'. The rest, however, was something I could not handle. I thought this was the worst album the band had done, and I wasn't even a fan of the rest of it anyway (bar 'Empire'). Very complicated, and not in a good way. Found it hard to find any reason at all to like it.

| I was impressed like hell by 'Damaged', 'My Global Mind' and 'Someone Else', but I tend to agree with Geoff. 'Disconnected' is interesting. Not much else could hold my interest. And I'm proably in the minority, but considering the quality of 'Silent Lucidity', I found 'The Bridge' to be a WEAK attempt to cash in again. This one had some good ideas but the pacing is MESSED up.

| Promised Land is, unfortunately, the last great LP by Queensryche.Only such a unique band could produce a record like this after the huge comercial success of Empire.Dark, emotional,diffirent than everything we have been used to but on the other hand so...Queensryche!!!This 5 guys are artists my friends and make yourselves a favor to buy this collosal release when you think you re ready for thinking mans art metal!Not an easy listening album but the most highly rewarding of all their releases.10

| Buen disco con toques progre,con un inicio algo experimental o psicodelico si se quiere, pero se torna mas interesante a partir de "Damaged" aunque no sea tan popular como O. Mindcrime o el Empire este disco si que es para tenerlo en cuenta 8/10

| Everyone who knows and likes Queensr˙che more than the band that did "Operation Mindcrime" should like this one too. IMO this is the band's absolute magnum opus. Every album up until this has been awesome, but this one nails it big time. It's not like anything before it, and it doesn't sound like anything that came after it. It's unique. Geoff Tate's lyrics are haunting, his voice is more diverse than ever and the rest of the band builds an atmosphere hard to find in other recording. Amazing cover as well. 10/10

| This CD is decent considering the year that it came out in. I think the 2 following this one suck yack balls although i own them. Not sure how Tribe is, or Mindcrime 2. I've heard mixed reviews on it, Could someone fill me in on this cd? Thanx.

| IMO best QR album. Very diverse and has something for fans of any style of music. they showed their true prog roots with this release. Standout tracks: i am i, damaged, my global mind, bridge and someone else

| Well, I guess it was inevitable...they had to make a horrible album at some point and this one is it. I cannot tell you how dissapointed I was with this POS. I mean, say you haven't gotten laid in a while and you're at a strip club feelin' good and there she is, the one you're gonna be livin' the 80's dream with...and then she turns around and she has a face that could stop a train...the proverbial "butterface". But then it's gets worse, she has breath that could scare buzzards off a gut wagon. I think that explains how I felt pretty clearly. Steer clear of this one...and the stripper too!

| back in 94 things were getting out of control with all that mellow mess and most of 80 s bands lost their touch.queensryche are no exception .this one is complicated ,mellow and confused but overall a grower ,well played release and it contains some very good songs like "i am i", "damaged" and "out of mind".not bad
