Wow what great memories this album brings back! Listened to it non-stop in 91' and still stands the test of time. Great concept going on here and "Believe" still gives me a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat 12 years later. A "concept" album that we all can relate to without being too complicated and too smart for their own good as a s#@tload of "metal" concept albums tend to be. In my top 10 cd's and why these guys weren't HUGE is beyond my comprehension. 9.5 out of 10.

This is my favourite album of all time. Brilliant musicianship, powerful emotive vocals and stunning production. Favourite tracks are Tonight he grins again, Ghost in the ruins and Believe - but there are no ordinary tracks. Savatage are unquestionably the best band in their genre but incredibly, relatively unknown outside of metal circles.

Pretentious little "rock opera", yet it does deliver some songs that stand well on their own. "If I Go Away" & "Believe" are such truly great ballads that they let you forget some of the weaker songs that pop up on this disc. This one is definitely not for everyone, but it does contain a few gems.

I can still remember bringing this tape home, playing it for the first time and being totally, completely, utterly blown away. Many albums are better listened to as "background music" while you work, play, or do other things, but STREETS demanded that you sit down (preferably with headphones) and give the album your complete attention. It's still in my top 10 of all time after all these years.

Savatage music is of an ambitious kind. Based on Cris and jon Oliva at that time, they had reasons to be. This release really contains great moments of heavy rock. Jon Oliva is a great vocalist with very personal vibe, showing a wide range of emotions (fragile to unbelievable fierceness). While Cris Oliva is a very melodic and talented guitar player, in a not too showy way. The only problem with this Savatage to me is the production which is often really average and lack depth and power.

Savatage en su mejor momento. Lastima que j.Oliva no pueda volver a cantar como lo hizo en este disco. Joyas como "Streets", "jesus saves", "tonight he grins again","ghost in the ruins" i baladas preciosas, sublimes y emotivas como la inmensa "believe", la triste "If I go away", la preciosa "A little to far"...hacen de este disco el mejor de Savatage. Un disco conceptual como pocos, soberbio, supremo, fantastico. 9,5 le doy.(y ademas con muchas de sus partituras para piano en su website!)

In 2013, Savatage re-released this album as a "narrated version". Apparently, this was the intended version from the start but the record company baulked at the concept. I have this version and can confirm it is superior to the original release. With the narratives between tracks the story makes more sense. The voice acting and sound effects during the narrative tracks are of highest quality. You already know that the music is excellent, but now the story is fleshed out as well. This is the way Streets should have been released at the start. Best tracks are Jesus Saves and Ghost in the Ruins. If you don't own this album yet, buy the narrated version! 80/100 for the original, 90/100 for the narrated version.

RIP the INCREDIBALLY talented Chris Oliva!! Taken from us WAYYYYYY too soon. This album as well as the ones that followed are MUST HAVES! PS> If you weren't aware, some members of Savatage went on to become "Trans-Siberian Orchestra". If you never heard of them or tried them 2 things. 1.)SHAME ON YOU and 2) you have GOT to hear that band. If you are thinking WHO? Never heard of them. Do you know the x-mas classic that goes "bum da dada, bum da,da" THAT is Trans-Siberian Orchestra. TOLD YOU you know them. check both out, killer bands.

These days, I think way more people have heard of TSO than they have Savatage. I remember a quote from Jon Oliva, pointing out that the gold records on his walls are TSO albums, not Savatage albums.
