yet another classic from the NWOBHM movement! Saxon's obsession with America was apparent on these early albums with songs like "Dallas 1 PM," a song about the assasination of J.F.K. By the way, this one was released in 1980, not 1982. |

Kick-Ass early 80's metal !-----Anyone noticed the serious lack of "Real Metal" bands on this site ?---Priest',Candlemass,Mercyful Fate, Exodus,Primal Fear,Slayer,Forbidden etc. Plenty of p**sy glam bands to sort through however.Time to go back to the Brutal Metal Site . |
From: Blade Runner | Date: February 25, 2004 at 16:29 |
Slayer, Mercyful Fate, Exodus don't really have a place on a site called "Heavy Harmonies". They belong on a site called "No Harmonies" Anyway, I like Saxon..."Rock and Roll Gypsy" is one of my favorites by. and I can tell with their sound and vocals sometimes who influenced early Dokken. Saxon is a love em or hate em kinda band in my opinion. |

Excellent follow up that was released the same year as 'Wheels Of Steel', so we got 2 brilliant albums in the same year - those were the days. Whilst not quite living up to the brilliant 'WOS' album, 'SAOTL' pushed it pretty close in places, with some excellent songs throughout, namely 'To Hell And Back' 'Strong Arm Of The Law', 20,000ft' and the brilliant 'Dallas 1pm'. I find it very hard to find a duff track between both of these albums and they both remain, for me, 2 of the finest Heavy Metal albums to come out of the NWOBHM movement, and both remain my firm favourites in Saxon's excellent back catologue. |

nice hard rockin release, raw power ,screaming vocals ,dirty production.the songs are quite fast and the guitars not so complicate but there is a nice rockin vibe all over.my fav is "dallas 1 pm" and " strong arm of the law".very good release |

Second album with a solid beat that put the band in a good Heavy Metal position among the bands of the beginning of the 80's...a good follower of the debut...the trilogy along with the "Wheels Of Steel" release(the 3rd one)...tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 & 8(basically the whole album!!!)are classics of the genre by all means.95/100 |
