This is the album that made EUROPE known to everyone in the planet. The reason is obvious. The first song 'The Final Countdown' consists the absolute pop-metal anthem of the 80s and still(2001!) circulates in the radio worldwide! But it's not just this;you're struggling actually to find a 'bad' song in the album.Powerful rockers like 'Danger On The Track' and 'On The Loose' are superb. The emotional side like in 'Heart Of Stone' and 'Love Chaser' gives the album balance.Norum's guitar is fantastic.

From: THE FANS Date: May 6, 2001 at 20:43
THIS ALBUM IS A CLASSIC..IF YOU DO NOT OWN A COPY..THEN GET UP AND GO AND BUY A COPY RIGHT NOW!!!

From: Motley Date: October 29, 2001 at 12:04
The best album ever made from my home country!!!! SVERIGE SUPER B'st!!!!!! I bought it that year it was released and saw the EUROPE IN AMERICA show on tv when it was broadcasted and Joey Tempest Rulez!!!!!!!The sound and the quality just sums it up of what the 80's were all about:Big hair, stage bombs, Keyboards, doubel guitar soloes and glmmy aoutfit!!! I still look like that but dont wear lipstick anymore LOL. Hands down for the poser dayz!! I wish they came back!!!

From: Kim Date: November 2, 2001 at 11:53
Eventhough this a good cd Im soooo happy that Norum got out of there, he has made and is still making fantastic music.

From: DRAGONFLY Date: December 12, 2001 at 9:12
A little more radio friendly than the first two releases but still a rocker. EUROPE with their THE FINAL COUNTDOWN have their star in the universe of ROCK & ROLL

From: madrid Date: January 5, 2002 at 12:08
Marshmallow rock at its worst.

From: VandenbergA Date: January 9, 2002 at 8:49
Europe is the greatest Swedish band ever to come out of Sweden...they could have been better than Bon Jovi...they were a hell of a lot sexier.

From: prey for me Date: January 31, 2002 at 12:50
Sounds like AIR SUPPLY on estrogen. ABBA was death metal compared to EUROPE.

From: ROBBYV. Date: February 23, 2002 at 13:36
Un clasico de los 80.IMPRESCINDIBLE.

From: Scott Date: February 26, 2002 at 21:46
Lame...One of the bands that helped give 80's hard rock a bad name...I say this and i'm a big time 80's hard rock/metal fan.

From: thunderkiss Date: March 4, 2002 at 9:11

From: TIM Date: April 16, 2002 at 9:01
I liked The Final Countdown and Rock the Night. I am not that crazy about Carrie although many people are. I sure didn't like John Norum when I saw him with Dokken, so I'm hesitant to buy his solo albums.

From: Desslar Date: April 17, 2002 at 1:45
Why is this rating so low? This album kicks the crap out of 500f the others on this site. Yes, it's a bit lightweight, and the keyboards are a little too prominent, but the songwriting and vocals are still great. After this album they would completely lose it.

From: Federico Date: April 18, 2002 at 16:59
This cd is perfect. Powerful vocals, great guitar solos. I love the keyboards that sound so epic. The Final countdown is absolutely one of my favorite songs. Also Ninja, Cherokee and Danger on the track are so full of energy and passion. For me this is for suret heir best album. Prisoners in Paradise was too much influenced by the american taste. This is the second hard rock cd I ever heard (the first was the self titled from Heart).10 is my rate.

From: richierocker Date: May 25, 2002 at 14:17
I love rock the night, the final countdown is overated and overplayed, not much guitar work just keyboards.

From: Paolo Date: June 5, 2002 at 13:54
This was the first hard rock record for me instead!!!

From: tman Date: June 19, 2002 at 16:00
I see their are some negative comments above about Europe. Most people don't realize how good of a band they really were. This is not american hard rock. This band is from europe and has that flavor and influence. I remember going to a record store that posted international charts. Europe had a top ten single in almost 6 countries in one single week. Now thats good by any measure. They are more highly regarded in the world than most american hardrock/metal bands of that era.A breakthrough album!

From: ELCOLEBROM Date: June 29, 2002 at 15:19
MY PERFECT BAND IS JOEY TEMPEST,MIC MICHAELI AND JOHN LEVEN.ANOTHER MEMBERS-NUNO BETTEENCOURT(EXTREME) ON GUITAR AND RICHARD WRIGHT(WHITE SISTER) ON DRUMS.

From: El colebrom Date: July 18, 2002 at 23:03
Este es lo mejor.100% ARENA ROCK!!.

From: jens Date: July 20, 2002 at 0:33
i enjoy all the postings on this one. yes, yes... all is true. the fact remains: this is _great_ stuff. guilty pleasure, but better still then winger's easy come, easy go or nelson's after the rain... MUCH better. the european BON JOVI, you could claim... but then they are EUROPE and BJ is BJ... their stuff will make you whince of 80's nostalgia!

THIS CD MUST BE IN THE 5 BEST RECORDS OF '80s

From: robert Date: October 21, 2002 at 18:18

From: Axelinger Date: October 25, 2002 at 12:49
Those cheesey keyboards on The Final Countdown make it seem more apropos to a Rocky Soundtrack than on a supposed rock album. Sorry, Europe fans, but this stuff is terribly wimpy. I had to laugh when an interviewer asked Rick Savage what he though of Joey Tempest, and Savage laughed and referred to him as 'Joey Compost'. I'm in complete agreeance that John Norum was head and shoulders above his bandmates and leaving was the smartest move he ever made.

From: TIM Date: October 25, 2002 at 15:28
IMHO the keys, French Horns, and Tympany Drums added a majestic feel to the Final Countdown that distinguishes it from other songs of that time. I liked about 2 other tracks and the rest I can live without. No offence,I personally don't believe Norum was the only highpoint of the band. I think their main problem was writing consistantly as is the case for many. They definately needed more fire and zest in places.

From: TIM Date: October 25, 2002 at 15:35
I saw Norum live and was not impressed. He sounds good on album though. Of course, that's the case for many artists. Unless it's Boston,Cinderella, Journey, or AC/DC you seldom find an enjoyable live performance that equals or exceeds the album.

From: Francesco-ITA Date: November 9, 2002 at 6:42

From: Baris Date: November 20, 2002 at 5:21
Despite being pop-based, this lovely album brings many memories to me. I remember when I first saw them with the song 'Final Countdown' in a music programme on the TV in the December night when entering into the year 1987, around times of first teenager-years. Absolutely impressed by that provoking keyboard intro, the song had became one of the most favourites in my tape-player. As for the album Rock The Night, Carrie, Ninja all blew away that poor player.

From: Baris Date: November 20, 2002 at 5:39
I think the problem confronting them was that they were taking place in pop-mags together with bands like A-HA or Duran Duran rather than rock pages and therefore never taken serious by the rock audience. Later only John Norum somewhat succeeded to get rid of that image in his work with Don Dokken. Nonetheless anything related with these guys still brings a somewhat sneering smile on my face today. I felt awful when I heard the dance-mix of Final Countdown three years ago, should be a nightmare!

Este grupo merece estar con los mas grandes y no esta, por culpa ed los integristas ni'atos del heavy, para los cuales no son suficientemente duros... el rock es algo mas que ka'a, el rock es sentimiento. el que no lo entienda es que no lo siente. people get the wrong impression of this band they are not a hair band they are more in the vain of power rock. this cd to me is one of the best rock cd's of the 80's, because of the superb songwriting and muscisianship. this band is extremly tight on this album. every song is great, with the exception of rock the night a little chessy for me all in all a great rock cd.

From: JGC Date: June 10, 2003 at 10:33

From: kim Date: June 28, 2003 at 10:54
'The Final Countdown' is the MASTERPIECE of EUROPE. The Joey's compositions are fantastics and the keys too. It's a shame that John Norum's guitars are not very hard. 'Love Chaser' wasn't a single but is a great song!

From: James Date: July 14, 2003 at 18:21
Not a bad song on this cd. Europe was a really good band that should get a bit more respect than they do. I give this cd a 8.5/10 with a big smile as memories come rushing back from by high school years.

From: Bretijani Date: August 14, 2003 at 20:21

From: Date: August 27, 2003 at 16:44
Classic album. I usually skip the first track and enjoy the other ones.

From: TheRipper Date: August 27, 2003 at 17:14

From: RR-Finland Date: September 15, 2003 at 1:33
Classic it is. I forgot my name on above...

From: blueblood Date: September 18, 2003 at 19:35

From: keebler Date: October 8, 2003 at 1:42
this is a good cd alittle chessy but alot of europe is but they are still good and i love john norum.

From: Dean Date: January 25, 2004 at 1:50
The only Europe cd i considered any good. Anyone in need of a laugh should check out the death metal version of 'Final Countdown' by Children of Bodom.

From: Kristian Date: February 21, 2004 at 17:43
One of the best rock albums ever. If you don't have it - Get it!

From: Sandy Date: March 11, 2004 at 18:24
@Dean: Children Of Bodom never did a cover of 'The Final Countdown', that's another band, but I don't remember the name. They're from Sweden and they really suck (the band that did the cover). Children Of Bodom are great! They covered 'Hellion' (WASP) and 'Shot In The Dark' (Ozzy) along some other tunes from Slayer, Sepultura or The Ramones. Their own material is also great. Anyway: EUROPE ARE BACK TOGETHER!!! HELL YES!! They're doing a new record right now! European Tour is sheduled for summer!

From: jack Date: March 20, 2004 at 5:40
my goodness after listening to this album,is this metal? its more into pop. ok,so their music is labelled as melodic metal but anyway, its a great album, especially ninja survive and cherokee

From: meradona Date: April 2, 2004 at 18:56

Hey colegas!

From: Dean Date: April 3, 2004 at 19:38
Finally heard 'Final Countdown 2000' DO NOT pay any money for that song- it is a dance remix with almost all guitars removed and a shit dance drum beat added-HORRIBLE beyond all words. Wait let me try- repulsive, disgusting, nauseaus, vomit inducing- SHIT.

From: Dean Date: April 3, 2004 at 19:49
BTW- Sandy- I stand corrected, when i downloaded the tune it was under COB's name and the vocals sound a lot like Alex Laiho not to mention COB has done several 80's cover tunes. The band that did the song was called Norther- i just got the cd today but considering you like COB- i'm really suprised you don't care for Norther. I really like both bands.

From: Rene Date: April 4, 2004 at 14:40
Yes, finaly Europe is coming to Spain. They will play in Murcia maybe with WHITESNAKE. We will see.

The fenomenal album! The graetest songs are very well known (The Final countdown, Rock the Night, Carrie),but the whole album is awesome. One of the greatest piece of works of the 80`s. And graet news,i`v heard that they reunited and will make a brand new album very soon!

From: charvel man Date: May 5, 2004 at 0:12
I just realized this album is kind of a journey sound with slightly heavier guitar and a flashier guitarist in John Norum. Great record.I still listen to it often. Every song is good. Europe's best I'm sure. You won't lose money on this one.

From: jack Date: May 5, 2004 at 6:53
charvel man,I agree with you..every song is not just good, its great. Like Dokken, they sure know how to blend metal with melody perfectly. I think europe should just stick to what they do best that is playing melodic metal. lots of people think they are glam(poison, cinderella) or sleaze(g'n'r,faster pussycat) but i think they are a hard rock band playing melodic and pop metal music! Anyway, carrie is a wonderful ballad that is both empowering and softening like nobody's fool(CINDERELLA).

From: mauricio Date: May 25, 2004 at 22:27
hi- from COSTARICA .MY NAME IS MAURICIO BARQUERO AND SAY THAT THIS IS THE BEST EUROPE ALBUM, ITS GREAT ALBUM FROM THE FIRST TRACK TO THE LAST TRACK THIS IS AN ALBUM TO STAND THE TEST OF TIME . I LOVE THIS ONE BECAUSE IS ONE OF THE BEST SCANDINAVIAN BANDS.BUY THE RE-RELEASE 2001 WITH 3 LIVE TRACKS EUROPE S ROCKS

From: TIM (2) Date: June 3, 2004 at 4:33
I think this is highly over-rated. 'Carrie' and 'Cherokee' are killer, but I can do without the rest of it. The following 2 albums were to be much stronger in terms of songwriting and performances, but as with all successful acts it only took one overly commercial pop tune to make their name and sell the album. The following albums were more consistent, but didnt have a big pop number and didnt sell.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 0:27
The Europe album that everyone loved (melodic rock fans) or hated (the 'rock critics'. An original sound, some great keyboard riffs mixed with guitar riffs. Sounds dated, but in a good way. 9/10

From: mushmouth Date: June 17, 2004 at 14:24
I remember when this came out every1 (trying 2) tell me about this new band but I was smug that I knew it was not their 1st release.. anyway gr8 album songs like Cherokee, Ninja, Rock The Night, Carrie, & of course The Final Countdown (though not lyrically correct - how can we 'miss our sun' if 'were headed 4 Venus'??) were all standout trax... by the way Joey the tecno/dance version of TFC sux ass, wot were u thinking???

Me growing up in the 70's/80's and listening to rock/aor/heavy metal my whole life,I may say something here that I may get punched in the mouth for,but it is simply my opinion. I couldnt, and still cant listen to these guys, especially that song final countdown. It is so cheesy it almost makes me vomit.I am just surprised I am the only one it happens to.I would say I would say I will listen to it again, but I have tried and tried that, aint happenin. To each his own.

From: jack Date: July 20, 2004 at 3:10
knuckles-i know how u feel. Just forget this album and the final countdown song and move on to the europe and wings of tomorrow album where i'm sure you'll find it 'rocking'. Actually, i only find rock the night and on the loose a good rocker.the other?just above aaverage. The ninja song is actually quite cool and sometimes u can jusy fantasize about ninja battling it out just listening to them song. sounds lame but it always gets my adrenaline going.

From: Karin Date: July 28, 2004 at 14:58
Knuckles - I read what Europe singer Joey Tempest suggested one should do if somebody said their music was for ''make-belive rockers'': ''Play Scream of anger really loud and hand them a beer, that should help.'' You see, they have made heavier albums than The final countdown! Personally I like it but the mixing ain't as good as it could be. I see why Norum left the band, what happened to his amazing guitars? Remeber I'm being nice to U, I use to be really ugly to people insulting Europe...

From: Kristian Date: July 30, 2004 at 6:15
I prefer the sound they have on this album and the one they have on Wings of Tomorrow. The earlier Europe just sounds too aggressive and muddy for my taste. I like crystal clear production... Anyhow Im not much of a Europe fan, I have a hard time swallowing the scandinaivian sound tho Im Swedish myself. However I love the band 'Treat' tho their singer Robert Ernlund sucks badly. Too bad Joey Tempest isn't singing on their records.

From: Paolo Date: July 30, 2004 at 7:56
Hi Kristian, i love Europe and Joey Tempest....i think probably together with Goran Edman and Jim Jidhed he is the best hard rock singer in Sweden; but i like also Robert Ernlund, in my opinion light years better than last Treat singer Mats Leven.

From: Metal Jay Date: August 2, 2004 at 20:34
A very polished album, with some classic tunes....'The Final Countdown', 'Carrie', 'Cherokee'...I love this album.

From: Knuckles Date: August 12, 2004 at 12:55
Karin,I did it,and you know what, they do have some great songs, which I kind of new already but,I drank more than just a beer so I was feeling froggy.I attempted to see if many beers would make me enjoy THE FINAL COUNTDOWN any better and the only thing it did was to prove my statement.I actually vomitted out the back door. Not sure if it was the song or the beer

From: Fiortoft Date: August 20, 2004 at 4:39
you may like or not, this record had AN INCLEDIBLE IMPACT on the HARD ROCK WORLD SCENE.call it glam,AOR,melodic hard rock, call it what you want(does this remind you of anything??ehehe),this was the MILESTONE of European hard rock.I comprehend people who don't like this kinda sound, but this is one of my favorite 10 records and OUT OF THIS WORLD is even better!many people here in Italy were turned to hard rock by THIS RECORD and I was one of them in 1986(14 years old).I miss those times so much!

From: Fiortoft Date: August 20, 2004 at 4:42

Fiortoft,i agree with you. MY top ten 80's hair metal album of alltime:1)appetite for destruction,2)pyromania,3)out of the cellar,4)metal health,4)slippery when wet,5)under lock and key,6)open up and sy..ah,7)stay hungry,8)thefinal countdown,9)Hysteria,10)skid row

From: Geoff Date: August 22, 2004 at 5:16
As I said in my words on 'Out of this world', I never really got into Europe until the mighty 'Prisoners in paradise' and this album is no exception. Good AOR, but a lot of keyboards and to be honest I thought there were Scandi acts at the time doing the job better. Still, I love 'Carrie' as a ballad. Beautiful song and a good solid melodic record. Just not my fave.

I was in Switzerland to watch them live on Sunday 22 August and I went on my own cause no-one would get so far to see a band like Europe....so much the worse for them....it was an incredible show,Joey was jumping everywhere on the stage(even too much enthusiast,he stumbled and almost fell!!!)and I was standing on TOP OF THE WORLD....my teenage dream came true,I shook Joey's hand and he signed my OUT OF THIS WORLD CD!!!!!....I spent lots of Swiss francs but 'AN EMOTION HAS NO PRICE' I use to say!

Hey fiortoft, did they play any new material? Was wondering what it sounded like.

From: Date: August 24, 2004 at 11:24
they played the title track from the new album START FROM THE DARK....I love that song and I already know the lyrics by heart...after the first 3 or 4 listenings, it became a classic for me!!!!!....ehhehe.....bass player John Leven while singing backing vocals was surprised to notice that the song was already known by the audience!!!!!....it sounds modern hard rock I think and you can feel Norum's taste in it....only a personal opinion, but if you want you can listen......

Modern hard rock, great. I've heard some rumours it's pretty heavy, but I must admit that the single ('Got to have Faith') is pretty good...

Para m','Final...','Out Of This World'&'Prisoners...'son los grandes trabajos de Europe.

The keyboards are what make this album stand out. I never cared much for the guitar playing or the lyrics, but the overall melodies are solid, if not a little same-ish. Some songs find a hook and take off, while others fall a little flat and land on the boring side. My favorite tracks here are Ninja, The Final Countdown, Cherokee, Love Chaser and to a lesser extent, the popular Carrie. Overall, it's consistant in the style, but not the delivery, and could have been better. 7/10

Excellent keyboard driven rock. This is what a hair band is all about. Great musicians, cheesy lyrics and tons of hairspray. 'The Final Countdown' was not a critic's darling. It was panned. But the fans ate it up. The title track, 'Cherokee', 'Rock The Night' and 'Danger On The Track' rock with the best the 80's had to offer. 'Carrie' is a power ballad done with class. This is a must-own staple of 80's hair bands. Great, fun stuff.

This was the first Europe release I bought but mine has a different cover . I love 'The Final Countdown' with it's huge keyboards, it is an anthem. It is just a shame that most of the world only know Europe for that song. No disrespect to Mic Michaeli but I feel they could have turned the keyboards down a bit on the other tracks. I was on holiday in Bulgaria this year and a band did a version of 'Carrie'. It was a beautiful moment!! Just thought I'd share that with you!

One of the worst hard rock album ever,or should i say pop rock. This album is downrightly embarrasing-it's full of cheesy keybord sounding. The guitar solo and riffs are quite heavy and impressive but that all. The final countdown,as good as they are on the billboard or whatever chart,is dreadfully awful. It sounded like an experiment gone totally wrong. How the hell the final countdwon(song) got on the chart is beyond me(maybe it appeals to the mainstream pop/dance fan). They should swap this

song with more deserving songs like metallica's battery or Tesla's modern day cowboys or judas priest's locked in in the chart. Rock the night and danger on the track are allright but love chaser, carrie and heart of stone are downright weak and cheesy. Man,compared them to earlier europe songs like 7 doors hotel and the excellent thrash-like scream of anger, those songs are like arena rock/baby rock. Avoid this album at all cost. If you want their better release, try their debut album,

Hey Glam Fan, have you ever listen to bands like Skagarack, Treat, Dalton, Da Vinci, Zinatra? The list could go on and on ...well Europe of mid 80's belongs to the same music segment; so all that bands are downrightly embarrasing in your opinion?

From: GLAM FAN Date: April 19, 2005 at 0:18
I wou;dn't say those bands are downrightly embarrasing but the the countdown is a song that is a disgrace to hard rock or metal music. It gave metal a bad name. One of my friend who hate hard rock and metal told me that those genre sucks. He gave me a reason why:the final countdown. He laughed about it for hours and said that hard rock/metal's most famous song sounded like that. But anyway,i won't change my opinion about disliking this record-it sucks! The first 2 album is much better!

From: howe Date: April 19, 2005 at 7:28
The Final Countdown is probably the greatest anthem in the history of hard rock. It's commercial hard rock so people have to say it sucks. It's a lively song, and who can stand a happy song like that nowadays? Well, everybody!!! But no one can admit it! We're living in the age of 'being cool', and after Cobain's 'I hate myself and I want to die' and Beck's 'I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me' every song must follow that mood. Mtv, major labels and the industry of advertisement are...

From: howe Date: April 19, 2005 at 7:36
... dictating what is and what isn't cool. Our 'musical integrity' depends on how much we let that affect us. If we spend the rest of our lives thinking that what we were (dressed, thought, listened to...) 10 years ago was simply ridiculous, then we'll never rise above the insignificance of our lives among the masses. We have to have our own principles and values and let us not be too much affected by fashion and the tendencies of a majority. THE FIANL COUNTDOWN was a great song and it STILL IS

From: Nanteau Date: April 19, 2005 at 15:04
Hey Glam fan, I guess you know that it's NO heavy metal album but a MELODIC ROCK album (mostly not even hard rock rather AOR). And if your friend has no idea of the different genres in rockmusic, then it's surely not the fault of 'The final countdown'. However, what counts is TASTE (do you ever heard of it??)and the tastes are different of course. The commercial industry CAN'T do anything against that so in the end (after the years) you are free from trends to decide what's yours. ,)

Don't mind comments such as 'poser metal' etc, this is and always will be considered a masterpiece in melodic rock!! Sure it was softer than the two first albums, but so what?! John Norum is still playing his ass off on this cd with lots of fantastic riffs and solos, and the production is tight and well-balanced. Two other highlights of this cd is Joey's fantastic voice and range here, simply world class!! And the songs, wow!!, not a single filler here, all winners. 100/100 on my scale.

I an very surprised many melodic rocks fans dog these guys? I think they are super talented and this album is a great mix of melodic rock and pop metal. It took a little bit to catch on in the states and I admit MTV played Final COuntdown to death. People laugh at the song and make fun of it. Is it really that bad? I do like "Wings Of Tomorrow" better than this but its still a great release from a great band!

Joey Tempest has a great voice and hits the high notes very smooth and easily. He doesn't struggle a bit. His vocals on this album are spectacular. Besides, this album sold millions of copies and The Final Countdown is played at sporting events today and is still remembered and listened to. Nothing left to say about this album I guess.. It's an absolute classic and I don't find it's that whimpy and cliché loaden as many (outside of AOR fans) think of it. Songs 1,2,3,6 & 7 are all highest class in this genre. "Out of this world" comes near. The heavier albums before and after I didn't like that much. 95/100 (I'm afraid I push the overall rating down, even though I honestly say I LOVE it)

I never did understand the fascination with Europe. I thought only 2 songs on this album were at best OK, the rest is pretty forgettable if not laughable (Cherokee). Prisoners in Paradise is better but they are still very weak. Haven't heard any of the newer stuff yet, probably won't.

In this album Europe makes a change in direction, shifting from metal to more commercial hard rock/AOR. Although die-hard metallers will dislike it, here Europe managed to make an absolutely spectacular album, with solid and hooky tracks like "Countdown" (incredible guitar solo), "Rock The Night", "Cherokee" and "Danger On The Track". A true hard rock/AOR classic.

Perhaps Kai they were more into U.F.O.,Thin Lizzy and other 70's bands but as they had the "look" and the talent, they became the european answer to Bon Jovi!!!...basically in the next 2 albums after this one ("Out Of This World"& "Prisoners In Paradise").Talkin' about this album especifically is their finest and one of the most successful albums in the melodic rock field (of course!,it was recorded in the 80's!).The songs are classics and timeless!!!.95/100..almost a perfect 100.

Being a music lover and a fan of this kind of music ask yourself the following question: "Is it great music that's remembered 20+ years down the road, and will it be remembered for the next 30 years to come? The answer is an obvious yes to me. There aren't many albums that reach this status, there aren't a lot of songs that have the anthem status TFC has. The past decade will definitely not have that same impact. In fact, most will be forgotten instantly because they're throwaway products to cash in cheap money for crap. And that's exactly where this record differs. It's the musical art created by musicians that differs from the scam products that get their way on air by payola. Let me put it like this: it doesn't sound like Justin Bieber. It's far superior to that. The songs on here come in different tempos and fall in different categories. TFC is this epic Rock anthem, RTN is great Hard Rock, and Carrie is a ballad, while On The Loose offers some Metal speed. Timeless classic.

Unless you’re living under a(hard) rock, chances are you have seen that GEICO commercial that shows "Europe" in a lunch room singing the “The Final Countdown”. I noticed the band was playing locally at a club a few months back as I guess with that commercial's notoriety the band has had somewhat of a resurgence in popularity. That re-recorded version of ‘The Final Countdown’ hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts last October 2015, as that single was #1 back in the day in 1987 in half the world, but not in the U.S. I would be curious how much in copyright $ the band has been paid for that song being played in endless NBA, NHL arenas, as well as ringtones, video games, ect. I had this album as a kid and liked several songs but was never a big fan. Their last decade of releases with a harder edge sound isn't that catchy IMO, but any band that can survive 3 decades + deserves props. For good luck in the future the band should all get GECKO tattoos (henna just in case they lose the Geico gig)

Much better than the first two albums. Not because I love AOR but the musicianship, songwritting, production are way better. 'The Final Countdown' is a monster of a song, but I think it sounds a bit displaced if compared to the rest of the songs. 'Rock the Night', 'Danger on the Track', 'Cherokee' and 'Time has Come' are some of my favourites. My Cd also contains 3 live songs.
