| Strong album! Mature arragnements and a flavour of classic rock sound.There are a few new rock specs that do not annoy me, beacause they heave been extremely well adapted to the vintage sound.You, that have been cautious with the new Europe era, give this a chance!

| I'm sure there will once again be a lot of Europe fans bemoaning the fact that this is another 'modern' sounding album, and that Norum's guitar is to detuned or whatever, but you have to listen to this album as a rock album not constantly compare it to the olden days of Europe. That said, I think of the three newer albums, this one is certainly more melodic that the other two. Now I am a huge fan of classic Europe, and Prisoners in paradise is my fave album by, but this is certainly a damn good album as well. Also, I have to say that 'The Beast' is a frikkin awesome track, and is already up there as one of my fave Europe tracks. Funnily enough, the weakest track for me is the most melodic, In my time. As ballads go, I found it rather dull.

| btw, there are various versions of this album. the special edition version comes in a 7" single gatefold case, with the CD in a cardboard slipcase with the insert booklet seperate. The red vinyl has two live tracks on it, Sign of the times and Start from the dark. The Digipack version has two bonus live tracks as well, Yesterdays News & Wake Up Call. The Japanese edition features one bonus live track, Scream of Anger.

| This is a good album. The "A-side" (from "prelude" to "The Beast") promises a masterpiece, but the "B-side" doesn´t fullfil the promise. On the "A-side" the continuity between songs is marvelous. Yeah, this is more 70s style disc, but that doesn´t bother me. What bothers me is the fact that the last three songs are quite poor. So i´ll rate this somewhere between Start from the Dark and Secret Society. Secret Society being the best of the lot.

| 9/10 Great album, retro- modern , pure hard rock!! pure EUROPE, great songs Last look at eden, new love in town, the beast, mojito girl, in my time,u devil u great songs!!! RECOMENDED

| Great album but on the down tuned side. I'm kind of drawn to the cover, lol. I wonder how long until they ban the cover art.

| 9/10 Otro muy buen disco de EUROPE,este disco es 70s,80s y moderno una mezlca de todo eso, con un EUROPE pleno mostrando sus influencias,esto es EUROPE 100%, el feeling de temas, como Last look at eden,New love in town, No stone unturned, Mojito Girl o la rapida y machacona The Beast son innegables y un parrafo aparte para ese gran tema final, un gran blues llamado In my time, con un norum mostrando todo su feeling, en sintesis,un disco muy bueno, RECOMENDADO, compra segura

| Wow, I am stunned that I'm going to offer the first negative comments here. Firstly, the down-tuned rhythm guitar is absolutely dreadful on most of this CD. I honestly find it hard to tolerate on most songs. 'Gotta Get Ready' and 'Catch That Plane' should both be good songs but they're both ruined by the terrible verses. On the plus side, Joey Tempest sounds excellent and there are some great songs like 'Last look at eden', 'New Love in Town', 'The beast' (killer hard rocker - actually suited by the heavy guitar), and the closing ballad 'In my time'. All four are very nice. The rest? A write-off. What they were thinking from track 7-11 is anyone's guess. Terrible stuff there.

| The artwork looks like a pussy and maybe it's the only decent thing here.I am still thinking at 2004 when I throwed 40 euros to see these clowns reunion in Milan....

| With this album, they're on the right track again to me. The concept is combining the arts of old and new. A first come-together of the new more lyrical heavy Europe, and the old musicianship of playing good tunes. As you can read in the previous comments, there are, quite obviously still some flaws here though. While this album brings back some hooks and melodies in the writings of a good tune, it also still has some of that downtuned and samey sounds the industry sold for Rock during the past decade. What Europe is starting to learn here is the art of Alternative being lyrical first of all. They do best to steer away from its musical flaws, that are ordered by a fraudulent industry to devalue the genre in favor of their shams. The outcome would be good songs with meaningful lyrics all in one. New Love In Town, Gonna Get Ready, In My Time, Catch That Plane, etc. are all good songs to me. Including Mojito Girl, which has a hook reminiscent of PIP era Europe, as I hear it.

| I would, as many have previously said urge them to deliver better cover art again though. It isn't smart promo. I totally understand the concept of it. Namely the fact that detractors have accused them to be all image and no merit in the past. Something that's obviously not true, as any honest music lover with a set of ears would notice in a heartbeat. What they need to understand is that they were gonna get the blame no matter what. If it wasn't for that, they would've searched for something else. These people have their own inferior products to sell, and are gonna attempt to trash anything that stands in the way. It's the way of the industry, aka business as usual.

| this is nt as good as expected!dont get me wrong ,the band sounds great,therei is much quality around but on the other hand there aren t any remarkable songs and there is no spark inside the songs.for me beside their first 2 releases this is their worst!

| Questionable cover art aside, Europe continue to get it right but this time around bring back a bit of Prisoners for the title track, big, epic melding the two eras. I mean for me back when these guys were always a guilty love (very much didn't like FinalCountdown yikes) but these days proudly wave their flag count me on board for the older wiser Europe. Honestly prefer Secret Society with its EnuffZNuff like title track and tunes the likes of AlwaysThePretenders WishICouldBelieve, MothersSon (Wow), Human, Forever... But here too we are treated as whether it's old keyboard pomp or modern Europe, the melodies hooks and performances continue to deliver. TheBeast is heavy, and a more 70's era riffery & bounce, Europe showing some true influences in MojitoGirl and GetReady and NewLoveInTown features the usual smooth throated Tempest on his game. A more guitar orientated more engaging band, Europe peaking again these days - proud times! Rating 8 (SecretSociety 8.5)
