My favorite Dokken album. Just Got Lucky, Heartless Heart, Into The Fire, and Alone Again are awsome!!! George Lynch is superb!!!

From: Alejandro PC Date: June 16, 2001 at 9:11
This album is heavier and better than 'Breaking the chains'. I think that 'Tooth and nail' has more quality and its songs are stronger. It´s easy to realize the evolution of the Dokken´s music in comparison with 'Breaking the chains' because 'Tooth and nail' has more style. I´m from South América.

From: Steve F Date: July 24, 2001 at 21:49
Probably one of the best albums from the Lynch era. It combines melodic and heavy elements perfectly; few other bands from the 80's could match it. There are very few songs that I don't like from this album, though 'Heartless Heart' and 'Bullets To Spare' are on the cheesy side. (10 out of 10)

From: Neal Woodall Date: August 22, 2001 at 20:16
An absolutely awesome CD from start to finish, I still enjoy it immensely after all these years! Heartless Heart would have been better if George had put a guitar solo in it but you really can't fault this one, it definitely stands the test of time!

From: Rob Date: October 10, 2001 at 10:47
Alone Again - THE BEST power ballad ever written.

From: mindy Date: February 5, 2002 at 13:29
Absolutely amazing album! I have been playing guitar since the age of 7 and if I could ever be 10% as good as George Lynch I would be a rock godess! DOKKEN is a very talented band with excellent songs. Im looking foward to collecting the rest of their albums.

From: dokken6008 Date: June 27, 2002 at 4:28
Besides the GAY cover on the band's latter album ('Under Lock & Key'), it was a HUUUUGE improvement over 'Tooth & Nail' as cool as it is with George's bitchin' riffs and solos BEFORE he sold out and fucked over Dokken fans in the 90s. He is a total poser in my book, but he is a poser that possesses great talent. Whether he chooses to use it or not is his decision and from what I can tell so far, he chooses NOT to.

From: Desslar Date: June 27, 2002 at 17:37
Pretty good album, with the classic ballad 9 and strong rockers 2 & 10. Some of the songs flow a bit awkwardly.

From: TIM Date: July 5, 2002 at 22:38
I have to agree Desslar, some did flow awkwardly. It's not a perfect album but the songs they did get right made up for it.

From: JoseM(Spain)Sev Date: July 28, 2002 at 15:39
This is one of the best USA 80's albums, and the best of DOKKEN's.In 'tooth and nail' Geoge Lynch shows his talent. This album has a great guitar work. I love it !!! fistro1@hotmail.com

From: Baris Date: September 23, 2002 at 1:37
Although not being impressive as their latter two albums, it can be said that this album saves the day. It includes Dokken's first hit songs as 'Just Got Lucky' or 'Alone Again' which are also my favourites here. A typical the then flourishing melodic-rock sound of 80s. Dokken got renown with this album but for me their real shots came with 'Under Lock and Key' and 'Back For The Attack'. If you're not a pure Dokken fan or collector, those two albums will be enough for you.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: November 5, 2002 at 4:06

From: freddy de keyze Date: March 13, 2003 at 8:25
I always was a big Dokken fan, and in the eighties they were one of my faves. But if I listen now, I have to say this is nothing special at all. The songs are not catchy enough and Don's voice is not the strongest. The only thing that still stands is the outstanding performance of George, one of the best guitarists ever ! But the record has aged !

From: Jerry Date: April 10, 2003 at 13:32
Dokken Kicks ass Alone again is a great ballad. Into the fire is awsome.

From: Kim HP Date: April 15, 2003 at 19:49
Top-notch 80's metal! Songs like 'Just Got Lucky', 'Into the Fire' and the title track are just awesome... 'Alone Again' is also a very good power ballad, one of the best I've heard. Not every song is great, but this is still a very solid album. Too bad they don't do music like this anymore.

IL PIU' GRANDE GRUPPO DI TUTTI I TEMPI IN UNO DEI DISCHI PIU' GRANDI DI TUTTI I TEMPI!

One of the best 3 Dokken´s albums. Tooth & Nail, Just Got Lucky, Into The Fire...ooh yes! Diamonds in the rough!

From: pablo Date: September 6, 2003 at 8:41
El album que les encumbró al megaestrellato y en donde se incluye la mejor balada de la banda'Alone Again' ,formidable trabajo pero me quedo con los 2 posteriores 9,5/10

From: keebler Date: October 8, 2003 at 1:11
i love dokken one of my favs this is the first cd i bought by them great band.

From: Pam L. Date: October 18, 2003 at 1:21
This the best Dokken album in my opinion. I like the rawer, heavier sound on this album.George Lynch smokes! It gets two thumbs uo from me!

Dokken's second best release by just a hair; 'Back For the Attack' ranks just slightly better in my opinion. This disc features some of the most memorable melodic metal songs in history 'Into the Fire', and 'Just Got Lucky',not to mention a power ballad 'Alone Again' that still gets significant airplay on the weekly retro shows. Not a bad song here. Another 10/10!

From: diego Date: November 19, 2003 at 16:21
no lo he escuchado completo.Pero un disco donde el guitarrista es lynch y con canciones como lone againe y into the fire no puede ser malo.

From: K.K. Date: December 28, 2003 at 7:41
Very good album, Alone Again is the best power ballad ever, Into The Fire is awsome, absolutely amazing. Very good album but I prefer Under The Lock And Key and Back For The Attack. I think Lynch is one of the best guitarist in this fuckin' world. Really amazing kkpoison@op.pl

From: byrdman69 Date: January 5, 2004 at 10:52
I will have to admit, this was the the album that first turned me into a Dokken fan. The songs on here were a little cheesey, but the guitar work by Lynch was great. The band definetly progressed after this release, but I can still get into it on occasion. My favorite tracks on here are..Just Got Lucky, Into The Fire, and Alone Again..which had a really cool video back in the day. I give it a 7/10.

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 5, 2004 at 12:00
I think I still prefer 'Back For The Attack' over this album, but for me it was my first Dokken album so it holds a special place in my heart. 'When Heaven Comes Down' and 'Turn On The Action' were some of the heaviest songs Dokken ever did. And how can you argue with 'Alone Again?' Power ballad perfection!

From: dave Date: January 15, 2004 at 14:14
Two words: George Lynch!!!

From: red Date: February 7, 2004 at 16:27
I am not real huge on their other albums, but this one is fantastic. Great playing, decent writing and good production. 1984 was a very good year for almost everybody.

From: borkforker Date: February 8, 2004 at 23:45
Great rockin' album! Personally I thought 'Don't Close Your Eyes' was pretty hot. We used to cover this back in my younger days.

From: drummerfish Date: February 16, 2004 at 4:28
even though i like songs from the rest of the catalog, this is the only dokken cd i like as a whole(also the acoustic cd)i remember when my step-brother brought it home ON VINYL! remember that? george lynch was the only reason to listen to the band.not just as a shreader-but to this day still one of the best guitarist in rock.

From: JERRY Date: March 18, 2004 at 13:16
este disco es increible, de Los mejores de DOKKEN

From: SLAYER_FAN Date: April 1, 2004 at 4:31
THIS ALBUM IS SIMPLY THE BEST METAL ALBUM EVER.

From: Jake Date: April 8, 2004 at 22:38
great album, KEEP IT ROCKIN' turn it up loud!!!!!! I'm 22 and I wish rock music was popular like it was in the 80's, I'm so tired of all this rap and R&B stuff. It's time for a change. 80's Rock, some 90's rock, and todays rock ALL THE TIME...ROCK AND ROLL!!!! I really like the attitude of many of the 80's bands, sex, girls, beer of every sort, partys,an escape from the sorrows of the world. These days we need more of that.

From: jack Date: April 23, 2004 at 2:13
I am a big fan of cinderella but not dokken. However, after listening to the this album, i think its not bad. Favourite song is into the fire, especially the chorus part where they sang 'into the fire(then guitar sound) te.te.te.te.te.te.....'. ALONE AGAIN is a perfectly employed ballad that is almost in the mould of NOBODY's FOOL in the night songs album by the great cinderella. HOWEVER, its not as empowering and devastating like nobody's fool. NO BALLAD IN THAT ERA(MID 80'S)IS!!!RATING:7.9/10

From: jack Date: May 5, 2004 at 6:05
And i think tooth & nail(the song) is a bit similar to Ram it down and hard as iron by judas priest. THE CHORUS IS MORE A LIKE RAM IT DOWN WHILE THE FRONT PART IS MORE SIMILAR TO HARD AS IRON. THATS WHY I THINK TOOTH&NAIL IS A COOL AND GREAT SONGS. WONDER IF ROB HALFORD HAS HEARD THIS SON OR NOT?P.S I AM NOT SAYING JP COPY THIS SONG CAUSE THEY DON'T NEED TO..GREAT BAND DON'T!

From: edwin Date: May 11, 2004 at 21:03
dokken es lo mejor para mi soy de colombia y quisiera que en alguna ocacion ellos visitaran el pais thanks DOKKEN in to the fire.....

From: charvel man Date: May 13, 2004 at 17:38
Well I have to say I don't listen to this much anymore, but it's a pretty good record, when you compare it to the newer releases, like dysfunctional and shadowlife. I like without warning, and don't close your eyes. I would recomended it, except any self-respecting true dokken fan already owns it.

From: jack Date: May 18, 2004 at 6:34
To Jake,no disrespect but i think the 90's rock sucks!Well, the one from the early 90's is good but from 1994 t0 1999,rock sucks:nirvana, stone temple pilot, green day, incubus, oasis, matchbox 20,limp bizkit,korn...uughhh!!!I'LL prefer the one from the 80'sokken,motley crue,cinderella,gun'n'roses,ratt,W.a.S.p and even poison and white lion to them any time and any place. Anyway, this album is one of the best melodic/heavy metal album,if not the best in the 80's.period!!

From: Rafpo Phoenix Date: June 1, 2004 at 0:25
MIREN, PRIMERAMENTE MIS RESPETOS TOTALES A DOKKEN, PARA MI PERSONALMENTE EL MEJOR GRUPO DE HEAVY-AOR DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS ESTE GRUPO ES INCOMPARABLE TODOS SUS ALBUMS DE LOS 80'S SON UNICOS Y 'INTO THE FIRE' ES LA CANCION MAS ASESINA Q HE ESCUCHADO DENTRO DEL HEAVY. LONG LIFE DOKKEN THE BEST OF THE WORLD SALUDOS DESDE ICA PERU ESTO DICHO POR ALGUIEN COMO YO ES MUCHISIMO, SOY CONSIDERADO UN GURU DENTRO DEL ROCK EN GENERAL ANTE TODO DE LOS 80'S ALWAYS DOKKEN

From: Rycheage Date: June 5, 2004 at 10:55
This album is not their best but it's not bad either. When they rock ('Just Got Lucky' and 'Into The Fire' to name 2), they rock. When they want to slow it down ('Alone Again') they do it with class. This is a good album but not what they were capable of.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 26, 2004 at 1:15
Vast improvement over the debut. The songs sound a lot more developed, such as 'Just Got Lucky' and 'Alone Again'. 'Tooth and Nail' is a very good attempt at somewhat of a speed metal song. The filler tracks are also pretty adequate. 8/10

From: jack Date: August 11, 2004 at 6:35
Tooth and nail-speed metal? What would that make metallica's ride the lightning or medadeth's rattlehead the? More of a heavymetal mode like judas priest's ram it down. Speed/thrash metal is a lot more heavier and brutallic than that.

From: jack Date: August 30, 2004 at 4:29
Sorry, come to think of it,tooth and nail does resemblence some of the speed metal sounding(compare them to anthrax's fistful of metal album's songs like panic, death rider or soldier of metal). the bass and the drum is so quick and non stop throughout the song. The diferrence is those element are not there during the solo playing. I think this is the only dokken's song that is thrash metal like. wish they would play more like that!

From: Geoff Date: August 30, 2004 at 10:19
Albums like this one really make you miss them these days. It's only when you really sit down and listen to the tracks you realise just how good this one is. 'Just got lucky' and 'Into the fire' are absolute gems of melodic hard rock, 'Alone again' is a great ballad, but tracks like 'Heartless heart' and 'Don't close your eyes' are so bloody good too! Great album! A classic for sure.

From: Date: October 9, 2004 at 18:42
The best Dokken album ever, pure traditional 80's metal, a true classic

From: sleazer Date: October 9, 2004 at 18:46
Into The Fire is the best Dokken song ever, this album is a scential 80's metal masterpiece.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 22, 2004 at 2:22
GRACIAS DOKKEN PORQUE TU CAMBIASTE MI VIDA, POR TODA LA BUENA MUSICA QUE DEJASTE, SIEMPRE TE ESTARE AGRADECIDO, GEORGE LYNCH JUNTO A JOE SATRIANI MIS 2 GUITARRISTAS FAVORITOS.

From: Jgg Date: November 26, 2004 at 13:09
obra maestra,y claro tenia que ser de la decada de los 80's, y estoy de acuerdo con Rafo , Gracias DOKKEN.

From: Propane Date: November 30, 2004 at 10:52
Don never fails to amaze with this one, as well as others. Good song writing.

From: schenker fan Date: December 12, 2004 at 0:25
By far, THE BEST Dokken album. Dokken always was an interesting mix of commercial singing & kick @** guitar (the MOST important ingredient!). My fave is 'Don't Close Your Eyes' This album is SO worth getting.

From: AHUEA Date: January 14, 2005 at 10:23
Great improvemente since breaking the chains, best track is into the fire!!!

From: Jimbo Date: February 6, 2005 at 9:16
Dokken seemed to find their sound on this record, a more 'hair metal' effort than the debut for sure, but heavy and well crafted. Don's voice soars, George's guitar rumbles and screams and the choruses forge themselves into memorable melodies with the help of Jeff's backing vocals and a tight production. Probably the second best album of the Lynch era (see Back For the Attack for #1), Tooth and Nail bites and claws like nothing before it. A must have for anyone who likes American melodic metal.

From: Mediaab Date: December 18, 2005 at 17:45
Great cd. Under lock and key is also very good. I'd give these two 90/100, very good stuff. Production on this one is not quite as strong (drums sound dated). Good album, sure, but I can't understand why lots of people think this is Dokken's best album - in my book "Back for the attach" is the very best Dokken cd ever. By far. BFTA has the best songs (and many), is more consistent, has their best vocal and instrumental performance and top notch production. But all their 80s albums are good!

From: pereira Date: December 22, 2005 at 22:43
INTO THE FIRE!!! I´M FAALIINN AAAGAAIN!!! great songs, this one´s my favorite dokken album! such a shame about the production, the next one sounds better i know, but as SONGS - TOOTH AND NAIL really towers high!!! SALUDOS DESDE PORTUGAL!!! ROCK/METAL FOREVER!!!

From: sanxdowntherainbow Date: December 12, 2006 at 13:32
This is My first ever Dokken album that I ever bought. I remember how it change my life!!. Since that day Dokken became my favorite band ever!! Into the fire is one of the best songs Ive ever heard! Anyways the entire album Kick ass big time!! This one is a must have, if u dont have you should be hanged (lol) go get it!!! Look for Back for the attack also! A+++++ 1000000/1000000

From: greenmanelishi Date: June 15, 2007 at 10:25
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, SUPERB, AMAZING, FOR ME IS ONE OF THE MOST APPRECIATED AND LOVED MASTERPIECES OF ALL TIMES MUSIC. este disco no es normal, es mas q una obra maestra es algo fuera de serie.

From: greenmanelishi Date: June 15, 2007 at 10:29
DOKKEN4EVER IN MY HEART!

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 10:31
The production on this probably spoils the record for me a bit, but it's still a good CD worth getting.

From: Metal T Date: December 23, 2008 at 17:52
Way long overdue for a comment on this masterpiece...George caught fire on this one-he just ripped it up everywhere on here and Don was dealing big time! 'Tooth & Nail' and 'When Heaven Comes Down' were straight up metal songs. As far as 'Alone Again' goes if Dokken didn't invent the hardrock/metal ballad, they sure as hell perfected it-always a great f'n tune.Well crafted superb songs, solos and vox and don't forget about that horribly underrated rhythm section-indeed the back bone of any band.Classic...

From: rockhardrock Date: May 28, 2009 at 17:40
i just can't decide which one is better, this one or the follow up. the production here is much better than on their debut.it's pure melodic hard rock(heavy metal gem you should hear before you die. my favs: Tooth And Nail, Just Got Lucky, When Heaven Comes Down, Into The Fire (the best here), Bullets To Spare and Alone Again

From: hair metal again Date: July 4, 2009 at 2:22
this so good that songs like "bullets to spare","don't close your eyes" never made it.this is an explosion of melodic riffs by george lynch and great help by pilson in back vocs.dokken here found their sound and identity.the result is huge ,i love every song of it .tom werman did excellent job with many bands those years

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: July 5, 2009 at 1:19
Tooth And Nail is a terrific album. Heavy for its time and for the style, yet with those trademark haunting melodies. There's really no filler here, but my favorites would be "Just Got Lucky," "When Heaven Comes Down," "Bullets To Spare" and of course "Alone Again," THE Dokken ballad.

From: Animal! Date: January 24, 2011 at 20:49
song for song probably their alltime best effort.

From: edwithmj Date: January 30, 2012 at 17:10
Dokken's second best I think. Tooth and Nail is a superb speed metal classic; Just Got Lucky is a brilliant ballad-rocker hybrid; Don't Close Your Eyes and Alone Again are the other highlights here. The other tracks are very listenable too and only Turn on the Action and Without Warning are filler for me. Essential.

From: pie75 Date: April 15, 2012 at 6:52
just got lucky, tooth and nail, alone again are great songs this was one hell of a follow up their finest hour i think into the fire is my favourite dokken song every rock fan should own this

I'm not a big fan o Dokken but there are some songs that I liked in this 'Just Got Lucky', 'Into the Fire', 'Alone Again'. And 'Without Warning' is the best intro I ever heard in an album. 80/100
