The last decade+ Dokken has pretty much been the Don Dokken solo show. I like Levin on lead guitar the most compared to Beach,Rosso and Norum. What has been missing since Don's first solo disc 'Up from the Ashes' is his signature vocals and harmonies. Of course Don is almost 60 and a a smoker, as all voices go with age. On the + side I think this disc sounds much better than 'Hell to Pay' and marginally better than 'Lightening Strikes Again'. I hear a little extra studio (multi-voice track) magic to help out Don's aging vox. Levin's Lynch-isque licks shred on this album and the new addition o Shawn McNabb will hopefully light a fire under Don's less than inspiring recent live shows. Rumor has it this is Dokken's last album, and at the twilight of Don's career I don't think bringing back the original line-up could make the band any better. Enjoy 'Broken Bones' for what it is, but I will always remember the 'Beast from the East' glory days. |

With so many new bands around is sometimes quite difficult for this type of bands, the ones that made it all in the 80's,to continue giving us great albums(amazingly some had!)...Dokken without having released an splendid album,is giving us with this "Broken Bones" album a more than a decent one...forget the times of "Breaking The Chains" or "Under Lock And Key" to say something, this is another story...some respectable songs in the shape of "Empire","Best Of Me","Today"(nice) & "Tonight" are gonna put a smile in your face surely...thanks Dokken 4 still sticking around, hope for a long long time!!!...86/100 |

OK disc 79/100...Even if we can all agree about the fact that both ,,under lock & key" or ,,back for the attack" were utterly superior...This album is still very enjoyable...The guitar work by LEVIN is amazing...It's a very mellow album , some songs are nonetheless rockin' with many very nice "Lynchian guitarz licks" in the true Mr Scary delightful fashion...But the prod and the crooning low pitched vocals increases despite all this laid-back feeling...Which isn't bad at the end...The style is indeed very in the ,,dysfunctional" way...Only exciting thing is the High pitched backing vocals by MARK BOALS which are mixed quite upfront in some chorus ! Finally enjoyable if you take it with an open spirit and a benevolent heart ! |

"under lock and key" and "up from the ahes " are two records absoluty fantastics.they are in the twenty better records of the history.the last dokken realise "lightning strikes again" is not at the same level but is really excellent.here hum...i am sorry don you have a problem with your voice.i am not your mother but i am sure you smoke and drink too much.the difference of your voice between 1985 and 2012 is too much big.on your last record your voice have changing but it s a really great record.here it a decent record not more.nevertheless i stay fan of dokken, a reference in the hard rock music. |

Another average Dokken disc like Lightnng Strikes Again and Hell To Pay. All the songs sound the same. The guitars and vocals are good as always but the song writing isn't. Dokken sound bored and tired. |

Good solid record. The majority of the writing is good here.1,2,4,7,9& 10 are great.Save for a few tunes midway through that don't really fit the album,i can't complain.Definitely not as good as LSA but still a worthy, well crafted Dokken record for 2012.As far as a reunion of the original line up goes,id love to see it.Even w/the wear-and-tear of age i think those guys still have another good (maybe great)album or two left in them. |

This album is the tale of two Dokkens. It startsout pretty strong with that classsic Dokken flavor almost like Don took a few songs from teh Lynch years but as the album progresses it slides into something much less than Dokkenesque sound much to my disappointment. It is always tough to capture bottled lightning.... |

pretty good release by the legendary DOKKEN and for us die hard fans is always nice hearing from them!always faithful to their guitar driven sound with John s excellent leads and Don s unique way of singing and songwriting!of course Broken Bones is on the mellower side but that s what you expect the last years!what else to say DOKKEN is an all time fav of mine and one of the basics in the hard rock genre |

Just pick this up, decent album. I like what "MetalllianStallion" said a few years ago. This album is definitely better than "Hell to Pay," IMO. |
