If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.

The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Kix CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Kix are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

Big KIX fan, and "Blow My Fuse" is a classic 80's album to begin with, but this remixed CD is absolutely fantastic! It has dynamics and more punch, with some of the generic 80's production stripped back. You can hear all the instruments clearly, and even some riffs/parts that were buried in the original. The 2nd/demo CD is unnecessary, the songs are pretty much the same as the recorded/album versions (No Ring Around Rosie has some minor changes). A bit pricey (with disc 2 essentially being a throwaway) but the remix is definitely worth picking up to replace the original.

I also love this version of a great album. That weird, muffled production is gone, replaced by a much clearer sound, but one that still could have existed in 1988. The drums really bang, and the snare doesn't have that sound like there's a towel wadded up inside it. The differences are slight: "Get It While it's Hot' has a longer fade-out; "She Drooped Me The Bomb" has a solo at the beginning that you couldn't hear on the old version; "Cold Blood" ends with a touch more feedback; "Boomerang" doesn't have Steve's trailing scream at the end, and there's a bit more fooling around before 'Blow My fuse," which also stays at full volume longer. Agreed, the bonus disc is not very necessary, which makes the $35 I paid for it through the now-defunct PledgeMusic quite overpriced. There are demo collections floating around on the bootleg circuits that feature a wealth of unreleased songs, both for this album and for Hot Wire, as well as the Thunderground collection, but those don't appear here.

I guess they weren't able to secure the rights for those songs (from a disgruntled Donnie Purnell most likely). Which leads me to my other question: Are they using Donnie's bass tracks here, or did they have Mark Schenker sneakily go in and re-record them? Regardless, the remixed version of the original album sounds fantastic. Now can somebody please, please, PLEASE do the same with L.A. Guns's debut?
