Early effort they didn't really warm up until the 3rd album. Decent effort, but don't pay much for this one

I have this on album. I like KIX, but I'm not to big on this one. "Restless Blood" is a great, hard drivin' tune! It's my favorite off this album. There is a couple of others on here that aren't to bad like, "For Shame", and "Mighty Mouth." But like I've said in the past, Blow My Fuse" is their crown jewel.

This is a lot different than their other albums. Some of the songs almost sound New Wave(like "Loco Emotion" and "Body Talk"). Still, I love this album. The songs are catchy and I never get tired of listening to it(and I got it when it came out).

What the hell were they thinking? Actually, I know. It was Atlantic, trying to turn them into the next Duran Duran or something. After that tour, they didn't play anything from this one live, and after they got done with the requisite plugging of it for PR purposes, didn't have much good to say about it. THey did bring back "For Shame," though, which in my opinion is one of the best ballads ever, although I know I should be embarrassed by it. My other favorite is "Mighty Mouth," mainly for the l

I remember Beavis and Butthead watching the video for 'Cool Kids' and remarking 'Uh, I'd hate to see the Un-cool kids' (bad video) .... I agree with above. A few songs are too 'new-wave-ish'. 5 songs are good. 5 songs are crap. Debate amongst yourselves which are which.

Whether COOL or not, they're really KIDS or teens here. There may be ones who dig this album but for me their real career starts with Midnite Dynamite. I found only a few good tunes here. The music is mostly childish and it's so apparent that this is a band in their early years. In fact what made me a KIX fan later was the legendry Blow My Fuse album which is their best effort. For me Hot Wire comes secondly and MD is the third successful one.

Can't understand why people are down on this one. I thought this was an excellent album. Sure, it wasn't their best. But, it was a fun album...key word being FUN. The fuse was still burning here. You knew that the best was yet to come. COOL KIDS, NICE ON ICE, BODY TALK, LOCO-EMOTION & FOR SHAME were my favorites. Still rates high in my book! (creeper@sunlink.net)

'Body Talk' was the first KIX I heard, and I loved it. REally dig this album, it is indeed a must-have for fans of them. The band itself were angry with the 'pop' sound of side 1, but Steve Whiteman has said they are proud of side 2 (heavier). Even so, I admit I like the pop songs on this cd. 'loco-motion' is a guilty pleasure!

More pop-oriented than their other albums. "Body Talk" and "Loco-Emotion" are more new wave than the hard rock we're used to from KIX. "Cool Kids" was a bad video but not a bad tune. "Restless Blood" is probably the best track on this all-too-commercial album.

A really excellent album. I still love this years on and can't understand why people don't dig it. It's totally fun and way cool. Sure there's a few synths and poppish sorta arrangements but there are also a few good rockers. I guess fans either love it or don't. Influences of it can still be heard on later songs like Hee Bee Gee Bee Crush and Bump the La La.

It's alright... the rockers aren't really much to match anything else in their career, and the new wave tracks are total rubbish... but I absolutely love the raunchy, funky rocker 'Nice On Ice', great song but lacking one crucial ingredient; it's absolutely gagging for some rock n roll saxophone. Overall 5/10.

These guys did some odd things on their CDs at the start, clearly trying to decide what kind of band they wanted to be - a pop band or a rock band. I really don't know what to make of this release. I like the band, but sold this CD. I actually think it's a pretty bad album and more left to individual taste as to whether you like it or not. I don't personally, but it's interesting.

This album does not sound like the first KIX album. I still love this album. It got some DURAN DURAN tipe sound in the songs and its more melodic hard rock with balls. Still very good songs like BURNING LOVE, COOL KIDS or RESTLESS BLOOD. KIX FOREVER!!!!!!!!

For some reason this is the hardest Kix album to find on CD (for me anyway)... you can tell that the band was still trying to find their direction on this album. Some songs show signs of the hard rock to come on MIDNITE DYNAMITE while others are simply average early 80s pop/rock (with touches of - gasp - new wave!). Worth owning for the power ballad "For Shame" and the vicious rocker "Restless Blood" (which I would've given my left nut to hear at a live show!)

Most everybody, the band included, hates thsi album, and I have to say it's one of their weakest albums. Keyboards are everywhere on this thing, ruining what could've been some fairly rockin' tunes. "Body Talk" gets a bad rap because of the godawful video, but is actually kinda catchy. The title track is HORRIBLE, though, and "Loco Emotion," well, I don't know whether to laugh my ass off, puke my guts up, or sing along. "Love Pollution" could've been good had it been recorded with the same powe as later albums. "Mighty Mouth" and "Restless Blood" are good fast tunes as well, but the bulk of my 55 rating is from the ballad "For Shame." Hey, Fat Freddy, Kix did perform "Restless Blood" live for quite a while, even after giving up on the rest of the album.

Many comments above are right...what happened here???..after a good rocky debut they came with this kind of poppy album with synthetized guitars...i mean this album is so "funny and strange" that i quite like it!!!..."Loco-Emotion"(wowwww so "disco"),"Body Talk","Cool Kids" and so on...there are a couple of rock tracks but the rest of the songs are quite like the ones i've just mentioned...an average released indeed.75/100

I've been listening to this again lately. The band disowns it and most fans hate it (and I myself have said the same at times. You listen to "Loco Emotion" and just shake your head, even as you try to get the scatting doo-doo-doo-ahh-ahh-ah part unstuck from your ears. But then songs like "Love Pollution, ""Nice On Ice," "Get Your Monkeys Out" and "Restless Blood" have the hooks and that trademark Kix bounce and sass to them; it's the execution that makes them seem less than stellar. And of course, there's "For Shame," a real lightning-in-a-bottle moment that has always amazed me for having NOT been an enormous hit. I upgraded my old rating because, being honest, even in spite of its obvious concessions to new-wave and cheesy 1983 pop, I have always enjoyed much of this record. It just gets off to a bad start, with the two worst songs going 1-2, but finishes strong.
