A must have for any 80's rocker. Give this one a chance and you'll be thanking me later!

From: WADELINK Date: October 29, 2001 at 18:21
THIS WILL BLOW YOUR FUSE IF YA LIKE THIS BAND THIS WAS THERE MOST RECONIZED ALBUM WITH THERE -DONT CLOSE YOUR EYES TO COLD BLOOD AND THE TITLE CUT THIS DESERVES 8/10 FOR SURE TRUST ME !!!!!

From: Dragonfly Date: December 14, 2001 at 18:51
One of the 80's top head banging bands of all time from Maryland. Alot of party tunes on this one.

From: Curious B Date: February 1, 2002 at 8:06
'nuff said by the previous commentators. These guys rock! If you like AC/DC with a glam influence, do yourself a favor and buy this. The most under rated 80's band.

From: SleazyMusic Date: May 6, 2002 at 10:13
I like some Kix song but I think it's TOO Ac/Dc oriented ! It seems they stole AC/DC guitars and effects, drums etc.... I think it's good for party, drinkin' and getting laid but I prefer the original...

From: Desslar Date: May 7, 2002 at 1:06
Awesome party metal. It just doesn't get much better than Cold Blood. Steve Whiteman has one of the best voices in hard rock, similar in style to the mighty Bon Scott.

From: Rich Date: May 26, 2002 at 22:36
Definitly one of the greatest party cd's of all time. It just puts a smile on your face from the first note till the last. Great lyrics.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 1, 2002 at 12:12
These guys are ACDC on steriods. They flat out rock, catchy riffs, fast up tempo drumming, awesome vocals, and not one bad song on this album it rocks from top to bottom. People who dont have it should try and get it. Its worth it.

From: koogles Date: June 30, 2002 at 19:17
"Cold Blood" is one of the finest songs from the 1986-1991 commercial metal heyday. Kix may be AC/DC without the personality, but they got the balls and guns, and anyone who knows AC/DC will tell you that those two precious commodities can go a long way.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 7, 2002 at 13:27
Yep! This is the KIX album to own. The song "Don't Close Your Eyes" is the one they are best knowen for. But for me thats the one song I would skip when listening to this CD. This album really burns fuel and doesn't let you come up for air until it's over. I feel they did their best work right here, hands down!

From: carlos rivera Date: July 21, 2002 at 20:56
good album , long live hard rock!!

From: Baris Date: September 11, 2002 at 5:51
If "Midnite Dynamite" is the album which provided the fame and money to the band, this is where they reach to the top. I exteremely admire this SUPER album. From the beginning to the end its still a great fun to listen today. It shows that party albums can also have musical quality. By the way, did you know the strange truth that a great frontman like Steve Whiteman had once started his career as a drummer?

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: September 11, 2002 at 22:24
Yes, I did know that! Steve started out as a drummer just like Bon Scott did!

From: The Fizzy One Date: September 15, 2002 at 1:39
I gave this one a perfect t0. midnite Dynamite got a 9.5. BMF is only a pussy-hair better, only because the vocals have a better sound to them, and don't sound like there are three Steves all singing together all the time, so the melodies grab you more on this one than on the previous.

From: Metal_Ed Date: October 8, 2002 at 0:27
This is a great release from a great band! I love all of the Cd's Kix released...not a bad one in the bunch!!!

From: Kim HP Date: April 15, 2003 at 20:53
Great AC/DC inspired 80's hard rock. This album matched the greatness of bands like Motley Crue and Ratt. Almost every song on this album rocks. Awesome party metal... The "Red Lite, Green Lite, TNT" is a good rockin' opener, and "Get It While It's Hot" is among the best tracks on the cd. The ballad "Don't Close Your Eyes" is also good, a bit cheesy, but a very solid track. And what about that title track? KILLER riff...Wow.

From: MT Thunder Date: April 16, 2003 at 0:57
Kix has to be by far one of the all time most underrated bands of all times. This album is one of those that can be played from song 1 to the end, no problem. Good guitar playing, catchy tunes and great combinations you can't go wrong. Steve Whiteman has a harsh yet appropriate voice all of his own and when not singing he is an excellent harmonica player. Favorite songs:Red Lite green lite and blow my fuse. Ok so iam sort of jaded by the electrical metaphors.

From: Glen Date: September 22, 2003 at 5:13
VERY underrated band and album. Maybe they did not truely break though because of thier stupid name 'Kix' Don't you know Kix is mother approved? Also fustrating is the orginal CD volume levels are so low its embarrassing. I had to rip all tracks off 'Blow my fuse' and run through maximizer filters to pump up the volume. It sounds better but. This CLASSIC album needs to be remastered. So beware when buying the CD.. do not expect a great digital transfer. The levels on cassette is better.

From: diego Date: October 5, 2003 at 22:13
buen hard rock .cold blood es bien bacan,no ring around rosie no se queda atras.si te gusta el heavy pegadizo y con vocalistas como tom keifer, este grupo es extraordinario.en ese estilo ,claro

From: ED Date: October 7, 2003 at 13:13
This is their most successful album. Their biggest hit: "DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES" is one of the best power ballads I've heard from the 80s. Cool year it was, 1988. Many bands were gaining success just like KIX.

From: ED Date: October 7, 2003 at 13:16
I forgot to say that "COLD BLOOD" is one of the greatest songs in KIX's career, beside "DON'T CLOSE YOUR EYES".

From: Alejandro Date: December 6, 2003 at 21:16
Excellent band with an excellent album. I had it on vinil format and I would like to have it on CD 'cause it's just awesome. I'm from South America.

great albun to listen to when your trying to score with a hot babe

From: Metal Pete Date: January 2, 2004 at 13:25
'no ring around rosie' is in the movie 'Johnny Be Goode' during a memorable stripper sequence. A pounding party tune! whole album is fantastic, what a followup to 'Midnite Dynamite'! This should have kept them on top if grunge hadn't ruined everything.

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 2, 2004 at 13:47
Kix's much deserved shot at the big time came with this album. I just replaced my old cassette copy with a CD recently, and it wasn't till I heard the CD version that I realized...wow, the production on this album is pretty flat. All these years I thought it was just because I played my tape so much that it was worn out, but no, it really does sound flat compared to "Hot Wire" or "Midnite Dynamite." It doesn't take away from the great songs though!

From: love metal Date: January 22, 2004 at 14:23

The best album Bon Scott released in 1988. Finally an AC/DC soundalike band gets it right. "Cold Blood", "Get It While It's Hot", and "Blow My Fuse" are excellent while "Don't Close Your Eyes" is one of the best ballads of the era. 8/10

From: Metal Jay Date: July 31, 2004 at 23:41
I never get tired of this band....."Don't Close Your Eyes" is a true classic...Unforgetable tune.

From: Paolo Date: October 21, 2004 at 18:44
Metal jay you're right....Don't close your eyes is the only song I know of this record, but it's really outstanding!!!!...It was part of the MONSTER BALLADS collection!!!!

From: christo Date: November 14, 2004 at 10:46
The songs are just too catchy, great hooks, and solid musicianship, nice guitar playing, its more polished than midnite dynamite, and while I like the music more raw ala midnite dynamite, the hooks grab you and dont let you go, another strong release from a great band

From: Metal80s Date: December 23, 2004 at 22:35
A absouletly killer cd. Pumped full of energetic rocks. Lyrics are pretty blah but the music is so pumped up and energy filled it's forgiveable. I usually skip the tracks Piece of the Pie, Boomerang, Dirty Boys, But all the other tracks are brutal! She Dropped Me The Bomb and Red Lite Green Lite TNT are ass kickers! This cd needs a remaster though the production is not too good. Songs are awsome though. Buy it!

From: Geoff Date: January 27, 2005 at 4:14
I might be a little bias here because this was one of the first 10 or 20 hard rock CDs I EVER bought when I got into it. I loved it back then and love it today. Great hard rock with gem after gem. I later found many better CDs, but if you just want a good album of simple well written commercial hard rockers, and an excellent ballad in 'Don't close your eyes', you've come to the right place. Great hard rock disc.

From: Betsy Browning Date: February 5, 2005 at 18:36
I love this band so much. EXCELLENT SONGS AND INCREDIBLE MUSICIANS! The most solid all time rock band of all time, in my book! Only saw them once in Hollywood at Exposuer 54, I think it was 1989. Man do they rock!

From: Nick C Date: March 8, 2005 at 17:27
I was lucky enough to see the band at Edwards No8 club in Birmingham on their first ever date on these shores and they were fantastic! Travelled down from Manchester to catch them and I wasn't disappointed. The band put on a magic show in support of this album. Ronnie was ill and threw up behind the amps, Steve asked where I got my Kix shirt from ...total hi nrg rock. It is one of the best gigs I have ever been too! Oh yeah the albums fab too! haha! Only did one more date never to return..sob!

From: cort Date: April 6, 2005 at 16:46
I actually like Hotwire better but this is well worth your time and cash...especcially the track,Cold Blood!!!!!!It freakin Rox!!

From: Sven Pelz Date: May 28, 2005 at 9:55
The Doppel-Platin-Album from the Band and a great Hard Rock Album.

From: Andrew Date: June 3, 2005 at 12:46
This is an excellent album. "Cold Blood" is a classic hair metal anthem. "Don't Close Your Eyes" is one of the best power ballads of all time. "Red Lite, Green Lite, TNT" reminds me a little of early Twisted Sister. "Get It While It's Hot" tries a bit too hard to sound like AC/DC, but is still good. The title track is also solid. 9.5/10

From: themartin Date: July 22, 2006 at 15:03
Kix always deserved to be more succesfull than bands like Poison, why they didn't is a mystery to me. They got the hooks, and they rock!!! This is their most successfull album (their best? Who Knows?)Isn't "Don't Close Your Eyes" one of the best ballads ever?.Yes it is.And if you don't rock with songs like "Cold Blood", "Ring Around Rosie" and "Blow My Fuse" you have no drop of blood in your body. Aguante Argentina! themartin88@hotmail.com

From: themartin Date: July 22, 2006 at 15:05

From: Midnite Dynamite Date: November 6, 2006 at 16:59
Damn, this is a classic at my castle!! Some really fine songs and a few fillers (She Dropped...), BUT overall this is a great record. Two guitars (sleaze) hard rock, Kix were a great band. Buy this, "Hot Wire", "Live" and "Midnite Dynamite" and you'll be a happier hardrocker than you are today! Steve Whiteman isn't a technical great singer, but DAMN does he deliver on this, the whole package! I truly love this album, and sometimes I listen to it before I go to work, and it really makes my day...

From: roxas Date: May 4, 2007 at 2:49
Everybody has this...but if you don't then you need three songs. This is hair-metal ACDC. The songs in question. "Don't Close Your Eyes"...one of the classic ballads, a must have. Heartbreaking melody. A tough listen indeed. The wonderful 'Dropped me the Bomb" grooves like Anna Kournikova's 'net play". The best though is 'Cold Blood', Melodic bitchin' heaven. You'll be humming it for weeks.

From: rockhardrock Date: December 27, 2007 at 18:59
kix are one of my fav.bands.sometimes this record is their best for me some other time its hotwire.bands of that era put a (power) ballad on their albums.kix did that too,but not every ballad was soo great as "Don't Close Your Eyes"-one of my fav. power ballads. They were majorly influenced by ACDC and released much better albums than they in late 80s.songs like "Cold Blood","Blow my Fuse","No Ring Around Rosie" and "Get it While It's Hot"kicks ass and makes that album a real gem

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 11:33
This is a must have CD,great music all the way.

From: RAVM Date: March 21, 2008 at 17:32
I was 18 years old when KIX recorded this album. It was great then and is still great now. Here's the proof that good rock & roll songs will always be good rock & roll songs, no matter the time. If you were into this kind of music 15/20 years ago and you still like it but don't have this album...well GET IT! Some comments say this is a good party album. Try listening it while driving. It still rocks!

From: Zoner Date: July 12, 2008 at 15:03
This is a blast from the past even if I was almost 4 years old when they released Blow My Fuse.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: August 26, 2008 at 19:03
Kix finally hit the big time on this record, the second in the new, harder style the first fully embraced on Midnite Dynamite. The songs here are even catchier, I think mainly because the vocals aren't triple-tracked and reverbed all to hell, so now just about every song stands out. The guitar tone is kinda weird-sounding, though. This is prime, no-bullshit, East Coast hard rock right here. Favorites: "Red Lite, Green Lite, TNT," "Get It While It's Hot," and especially "She Dropped Me The Bomb!"

From: onemorecast Date: September 24, 2008 at 15:05
Ultimate 80's glam. Still fun to listen after 20 years.

From: True Believer Date: March 25, 2009 at 16:00
A lot of brutal ripoffs here (the riff in "Red Lite.." comes from Zeppelin's "Communication Breakdown", the one in "She dropped the bomb" is borrowed from AC/DC's "If you want blood", "Dirty Boys" is similar to Crue's "Red Hot"..) but, who cares! This is a very good material, although not very original, so I couldn't rate it higher than 7,5/10.

From: hair metal again Date: November 30, 2010 at 0:59
top class hair metal release back in 88 from the mighty KIX.the sound is more commercial but still rockin, the songs are catchy and atlantic co provides the money,so nothing can stop them.tom werman in production does an excellent job and the band is moving towards success.mega hits included here like "don t close your eyes","blow my fuse","cold blood" and "get it while itd hot".this is a classic!

From: the rocker Date: November 30, 2010 at 9:27
I agree with you hair metal. This is a classic in the genre and still listen to this all the time.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: January 13, 2011 at 14:35
I know these guys always get compared to AC/DC (and justly so), but in my totally-useless-but-not-so-humble opinion, Kix kicks AC/DC's ass seven ways from Sunday. This CD blows away their previous ones, cooking up a more commercial hair-metal vibe that really works well for the band. If you listen to this album and don't think to yourself, "My, my, my, that is some darn good stuff right there," then please surrender your hard rock credentials on the way out the door marked "Poser Exit Only." Yep, this one'll blow all your fuses, all right.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 19, 2011 at 18:34
Brilliant album!!!...love it...specially the last 3 tracks "Boomerang","Blow My Fuse" & "Dirty Boys"..."Don't Close Your Eyes" is a nice ballad & the other songs are really a** kickers!!!...enjoyable and recommendable album guys!!!.94/100

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 21, 2011 at 20:41
Please do "ignore" my comment about this "Blow My Fuse" album...i made a mistake...i was listening to their album "Hot Wire" and commented my opinion about that one in here !!!.... even though i know that the rating is gonna be about the same(probably) as Hot Wire,im gonna listen to this anthem tomorrow and as soon as i possibly can i will post my comment about it..that's being professional and objective when writing a comment..the way it has to be fellows...ROCK ON!!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 22, 2011 at 15:07
Ok..listened to this one...honestly IMHO not as good as Hot Wire...but wait!,it has some very fine moments too ..."Get It While It's Hot","No Ring Around Rosie"(rocks),"She Dropped Me The Bomb","Cold Blood"(catchy) & "Dirty Boys"(this one really rocks )...good effort by Steve Whiteman & C.o....87/100

From: the rocker Date: December 6, 2011 at 22:39
CLASSIC! Love it from beginning to end. Red light green light, get it while it's hot, cold blood, blow my fuse,no ring around rosie, piece of the pie ,all awesome!I recommend.

From: edwithmj Date: December 7, 2011 at 11:42
This one and Midnite Dynamite are Kix's best. A bit of filler here with Boomerang, No Ring Around Rosie and Dirty Boys but the best tracks make up for it: Cold Blood, Don't Close Your Eyes, Blow My Fuse and Piece of The Pie. A staple of 80s metal.

From: Zinny Date: April 6, 2012 at 4:40
I totally agree with most of you fellow rockers. Amazing energy classic rock & roll album with strong performances! I love the two sleaze guitarists blending nicely, and Steve is singing with all he's got. Cold blood, Blow my fuse, No ring around Rosie, not-cheesy killer ballad Don't close your eyes (strong lyrics too) are among the best kickass rock & roll of the entire era. Yes perfect party/beer-drinking music, makes you feel good! The Tom Werman production and mixing is just fine, but yes, just like Poison's bestselling CD Open up and say ahh got a nice compression/volume boost on the 2006 remaster edition, Blow my fuse really needs the same remaster treatment. This was a million-seller, so even if CDs don't really sell anymore, Warner should pay for a solid remaster if not for sales as an honor for Kix's excellent rock music. There are similarities with AC/DC alright, but still with their own Kix sound and vocals. Fantastic band!! Kix's other CDs also rock, Hot wire specifically!

From: MelodicRocker Date: September 2, 2019 at 14:32
So finally in 2014 Rock Candy did the much requested remaster of this killer CD. IMO Tom Werman's production was stellar, I like his style much better than Beau Hill's, and it was not Werman's fault that the mastering was low in volume. Actually you can boost the volume with programmes like MP3 Doctor etc, since the mix itself is very good and I like this original mix better than the re-mix 30th anniversary by Hill (don't fix what's not broken). The sound is close to the mix of Poison's smash multi-platinum Open up and say...ahh, same year too. Maybe now Tom can remix Dynamite Anyway, any format, a killer rock & roll album where Donnie Purnell's songwriting (with some outside help) was at its very peak. Werman steered them to platinum success, what Beau Hill could not achieve, so Kix should be at least a bit grateful ya think. https://destroyerofharmony.com/2014/12/10/tom-werman/

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: May 13, 2021 at 16:31
As I noted elsewhere, the biggest hard-rock albums in 1988 were leftovers from the year before like GNR, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, white Lion, and even Whitesnake. Poison were huge in '88, but I don't like Poison. So for my pick from 1988, I'm going with the band Poison only wished they werh and tried hard to be—Kix! As someone pointed out, Tom Werman seemed to have left the board untouched between producing Open Up And Say...Ahh! and Blow My Fuse, as the sound of the albums is extremely similar. Jimmy Chalfant sounds like he's playing with the snares loosened, and there's a certain low-gain fuzziness to the guitars. But this is Kix's best all-around collection of songs, I've decided after hearing the remixed versions of both this and Midnite Dynamite. "She Dropped Me The Bomb" is a banger, and in my top-five from the band. The story goes that when the album sold its by-then-usual 100,000 copies after three singles/videos, Alan Niven (Great White/GNR's manager) took an interest and ...

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: May 13, 2021 at 16:36
... and told spirit management and label that if they didn't release "Don't Close Your Eyes," he would take over managing them himself. They released the single, and it went to #11 on the pop charts and got the band by far their biggest-selling record (not that they ever saw any money from sales, they're quick to point out). Interestingly, a follow-up single was never released.

From: Eric Date: July 9, 2023 at 17:58
Donnie Purnell was a golden song writer, solid bass player, similar to Nikki Sixx in Mötley Crüe. He might have been a tough leader, but he wrote gems for the band leading to platinum sales with awesome kickass rock n' roll album that is Blow My Fuse. Tom Werman certainly was a good producer around this time. I wrote here to inform fans that he seems to have a new solo album out, "Hooray" album with 15 new songs (acoustic style songs), written by Donnie Purnell, produced by his friend since the KIX days, Bob Halligan Jr. After all, nice seeing him back in music and enjoying life, despite no longer welcome in current Kix. Life goes on! donniepurnell.com
