I've heard good things about this one. Who do they compare to?

From: Paulo-Fernandes Date: June 30, 2003 at 19:44
This one is very much like Mr. Big - but with a more 'Zeppelin' guitar, highly recommended - track 5 - take me back is a classic, hell, the all cd rockssss!

From: T-Bone Date: July 2, 2003 at 4:57
If anyone here wants to sample a track of Great King Rat, there's a full mp3 at www.nehrecords.com in the Free MP3's section. They're not too bad either.

Hey, thanks for the tip, that was indeed pretty good. T-Bone, anything else you'd recommend form nehrecords.com?

From: TIM Date: July 2, 2003 at 22:50
I really liked the sample T-BONE- thanks. I'll have to get this one.

A 10 out of 10!! THESE GUYS RULE !! GET THEIR CDS !! What more can I say. MR. BIG meets TALISMAN !! KILLER GUITAR from PONTUS NORGREN and AMAZING VOCALS from LEIF SUNDIN. KILLER MELODIC SWEDISH HARD ROCK !!

From: Great Dane Date: April 29, 2004 at 19:47
Truly a Killer cd.

From: Great Dane Date: May 16, 2004 at 12:22
These guys have played in some amazing bands. Check them out.

From: Great Dane Date: May 16, 2004 at 12:25
................And its probably the best scandic release ever. Far better than any Treat, Europe, Nasty Idols, Fate, TNT and Tindrum cd´s.

From: Rik Date: September 11, 2004 at 14:36
Excellent stuff. Didnot know them. What a nice surprise. Powerfull songs, good length, nice melodies. Yeah a must have ! And yes these guys beat the Treat, Nasty Idols, Fate and Tindrums of this world. I found them difficult to compare. They absolutly have a sound of their own. POWERFULL ! Just listen to one by oneand top of the world !

10/10

From: Erik Date: November 13, 2004 at 15:44
AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need more of this stuff around. Listen to Dirty old man stomp, good times, one by one, top of the world. Perfect melodic rock songs. Such power behind it but always catchy. Ans stunning vocals that fit the songs just perfectly. And yep one of the best Scandi releases ever. Are they still together ? Does anyone know ?

From: zakkfan Date: December 8, 2004 at 5:43
Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what tigers like best !!!!!! Will those times ever be back ???????????

From: Teer Date: January 7, 2005 at 4:15

From: Geoff Date: January 20, 2005 at 4:12
A lot of Scandi bands made great CDs, but were obviously trying to be something they were not to be. These guys, whilst being NOWHERE near my favourite Euro band, knew what they were doing and sounded awesome doing so. Awesome vocals, awesome music. 'Good times' is a gem, 'Take me back' and 'Woman in love' are killer commercial rockers too, but basically this is just a good solid hard rocking CD. Very highly recommended and an excellent band.

From: King Scandi Date: January 31, 2005 at 16:07
What a band ! Top notch. Great songwriting, top vocals. These guys really know how to rock. MORE PLEASE !!!!!!

From: Nanteau Date: March 16, 2005 at 11:01
Please will someone tell me if this one's a must for me?? Cos I'm not sure.. I often hear comparations with SKAGARACK & DA VINCI but I don't know if it's right; Maybe this is more like pomp an' glam than my 'softer' melodicrock I like??

From: Erik Date: March 16, 2005 at 11:37
Nanteau this is indeed stunning scandi melodic rock but with a somewhat 'harder'( dont take this 2 serious tho) edge then lets say Da Vinci. Some of the songs are quite similar tho to the more uptempo songs as done by Skagarack. I for one think the world of this band. One of THE best.

From: Erik Date: March 16, 2005 at 11:40
Nanteau leave your email and i will send you some tunes so you can listen for yourself if you like it.

From: Scandi Date: April 19, 2005 at 15:10
Hi Erik!! My e-mail address is: "cornelius_groth@yahoo.de" Will you send me some tunes??

From: Erik Date: April 20, 2005 at 3:20
Hi Scandi. No prob i will email you later today

From: SCANDI Date: May 8, 2005 at 15:06
Thanks to Erik I managed to listen to "Bright lights". It's a very powerful track. To stay within Scandinavia it remains me best to a mix of little bit GAELERI with a bit B JOE. Due to the fact the lead guitarist is from TALISMAN believe to that comparation a bit too. Not scandirock like Europe at FINAL COUNTDOWN or the key driven DA VINCI/TREAT pieces (etc.). I agree, this sounds more like TYKETTO or WAYSTED, however, very good solid hardrock. Hope it will be re-releasted soon! 8/10

From: Lovedrive Date: May 31, 2005 at 8:47

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 31, 2005 at 22:08

From: z4roxx Date: June 27, 2005 at 11:53
That’s a great band indeed, but they have nothin’to compare with any other scandinavian bands IMO.

From: Kim HP Date: June 27, 2005 at 13:17
Totally agree with the above statement...

From: Teer Date: July 7, 2005 at 9:31
Catchy melodic perfection is what you will found here. For me this album is up there with the best. Being for example the first releases of Danger Danger , Hardline Skagarack, Da Vinci, China, Dalton etc. Its top of the notch scandi music but with more layers and a somewhat more rockier sound to it. Excellent vocals. And truly not one filler to be found. Listen to kick ass songs such as Good Times, Woman in Love, Follow the Rains, Dirty old man stomp, Callin for my angel and Top of the world. PE

PERFECT ! 9,9/10

From: Erik Date: July 14, 2005 at 14:57
Said it once and will say it again. Fantastic melodic rock here. No fillers. All top notch from start to finish. Higly underrated band. So much talent and quality in the songwriting. A lot of groove there. To me catchy melodic rock perfection. 10/10 PS The original cd is on its way to me thanks to hangloose.records !!

From: zld Date: July 16, 2005 at 5:00
Yes a great band indeed. They have the same 'drive' like the 'old' Thunder (UK) during their "Laughing on judgement day". Great pumping scandi-rock. 9/10

From: Erik Date: August 10, 2005 at 10:16
Best melodic rock album and band ever to come out of Scandinavia. Sinsational. 10/10 Nuff said.

From: Erik Date: August 31, 2005 at 5:35
A re-release on this one and this band will still become huge. No doubts. 10/10

From: z4roxx Date: October 31, 2005 at 11:37
Oh I am hearin’again this cd,this is really a great band, high qualità hard rock guys!!But Erik I am a little surprised that you consider these guys the best band from Scandinavia, they have another style and definitely not typical as classic scandi bands(I can find only some Treat elements).BTW this is so good that I can understand you.Do you have Road Ratt band??They are very very close to these guys as style…..Track n.5(“Tack me back”) is simply marvellous, and this isn t the only one, absolute n

From: Erik Date: October 31, 2005 at 15:33
Andrea i dont have the Road Ratt cd. Is it hard to find ?

From: stark Date: January 4, 2006 at 4:10
Erik: The CD by Road Ratt (featuring Christer Örtefors on vox, now in Freak Kitchen) is not hard to find. Trivia: I wrote the lines notes for Great King Rat's "Out Of The Can" (Z Records, re-issue of old, but great demos). Pontus guests on our second album "Heavy Machinery" (Locomotive Breath). Singer Leif Sundin has later recorded with John Norum and Michael Schenker Group. The bass player was in UK band Thunder. He and drummer Thomas Broman plays on the album by Audiovision (where I'm guesting

From: West Of Sunset Date: August 27, 2006 at 16:06

From: West Of Sunset Date: August 27, 2006 at 16:12

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 28, 2006 at 19:35

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 28, 2006 at 20:04

From: lalorock Date: January 18, 2007 at 17:53

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: January 21, 2007 at 12:28

From: erik Date: August 17, 2007 at 4:38
For me one of the best albums to come out of Scandi Land. the songwriting, singing, chorusses, guitarplaying, groove its all there. This one rocks from start to finish. For me one of the best albums i have and my collection is quite extensive Sometimes just grabs you and this album did and does that with me. Wont even pick out a single song. Love em all. Sheer melodic scandi power rock perfection. 100/100

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: November 2, 2007 at 22:07

From: rallen399 Date: March 8, 2008 at 5:59
I can't find this anywhere if someone can point me in the right direction I'd be grearful.I have 2 songs Good Times, and Woman In Love and they are 2 of my fav. songs by any band.I need to get the rest of this cd.Help!

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: March 9, 2008 at 14:52
VERY GOOD CD 90/100 British like HARD ROCK with some bluesy hints and some little scandi colors The bluesy influences seems coming from the very underrated singer LEIF SUNDIN (later with MSG for one of their best record "written in the sand" or John NORUM in particular "FACE IT live'97"and obviously the GREAT "sonic winter" by the JOHANSSON BROTHERS)his voice is like Paul rodgers/Shortino The guitar player is nothing more than exTALISMAN/HUMANIMAL/ZAN CLAN/DARK ILLUSION/THE RING etc..AND

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: March 9, 2008 at 14:58
soundman with EUROPE now with THE POODLES You can find others players in a lot of CD from SWEDEN with the like of ELECTRIC BOYS/AMAZE ME/TALK OF THE TOWN/RISING FORCE/GLORY and even UK's THUNDER ! So you get the picture great musicians and Huge singer Very hard to find but there is a good edition from JAPAN thru FANDANGO rec.in 1993 GET IT ASAP

From: rbrigade Date: November 16, 2008 at 10:04
Totally overrated. it's just good. No comparison to typical Scandi AOR/had rock is possible. They are playing a bluesy kind of melodic hard rock, there's some harmonica here and there and lot's of rock n'n rollish piano and stuff. Seems like they dig some southern/blues/country music. I actually like the vibe of the songs more than the songs themselves. But I have to admit production , performance and musicianship is great. But the compositions are not that good.

From: opec Date: June 10, 2009 at 14:00
killer stuff unfortunately sincerely underrated

I finally got this cd,I have been looking for it for about a year and a half.I got out bid on e-bay the only time I ever found it for sale but not this time.Cost a arm and a leg but was worth every penny. With out a doubt one of the best melodic rock cds I've ever heard.Leif Sundin's voice is incredible.I see the Paul Rodgers comparison he also reminds me of Danny Bowes of "Thunder".10/10!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 3, 2010 at 20:30
Pretty good stuff in here!...members and former members of Treat,MSG,Humanimal,Electric Boys,Thunder and Yngwie Malmsteen to name some are here in this "mega band"...anyway "Bright Lights" is a cool start,"Good Times" is a fave then "Woman In Love" and "Ball & Chain" are very good highlights,"Take Me Back" is AOR,yeah!,"Follow The Rains" is ala Thunder,"Calling For My Angel" is really nice and "Top Of The World" is another good shot.Really strong and enjoyable album that gives you good strong vocals and great musicianship,buy!.93/100...

From: aornufc Date: September 22, 2010 at 8:07
One of my Top 10 All-Time rated albums. Very under-rated band IMHO

From: Hysteria87 Date: June 11, 2011 at 15:09
Top 10 cd for me also,A very to find release, should be re-issued imho,I have the planet records release since its release back in '92,never leaves my mp3 player(2gether with the also great 2nd relaese from em) highlights for me are maybe to many to mention but here goes...Bright lights,Follow the rains, calling for an angel, very mr.big soundin but for me thats down to leif sundins vocals not the actual all round band sound, great cd,well recommended 95/100

From: hair metal again Date: December 17, 2012 at 10:08
