It looks like Sweet's pop-rock solo albums of yesteryear are never coming back as I think this album is a step up from "I'm Not Your Suicide (2014)" and his hardest edged solo release to date. This album takes more of a not in your face approach in the CCM lyrics department compared to Stryper and his early solo releases. First thing you notice on the first track is that Micheal hand's off lead guitar duty from himself to Ethan Brosh (Angels Of Babylon) and Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake) who RIP IT UP, especially compared to those last couple Nightranger albums Joel played on.The songs are also more catchy and more of a overall cohesive effort, than the last solo effort. "Radio"is a tongue-in-cheek wink to rockers who make country albums in an attempt to be relevant (Bret Michaels syndrome). I could do without the duet with 16-year-old vocalist Moriah Formica on "Can't Take This Life", same deal he did with Dave Mustaine's daughter Electra on the last release (In my top 10 stripper names).

After STRYPER'S last two releases (No More Hell to Pay & Fallen), which were extremely well received and generated a new appreciation for the band as they geared their sound to more rock-metal, Michael Sweet promised to continue this trend into his next effort which happened to be his next solo album. I have never been into his solo albums because they are extremely diverse (which some enjoy)...however, this album is great and takes it to another level, and could be "Fallen 0.5". I see a lot of these songs could have easily been on the follow up to "Fallen". With Sweet's distinct voice and harmonies, this can be perceived as another Stryper album (which many have claimed to be). HIGHLIGHT TRACKS: #1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11. MY RATING: 93/100.
