After the ulra commercial 'Steel Umbrellas' in '94, what do we get but a full blown concept album in '95. Talk about extremes - this features probably some of the most un-commercial tracks the band has ever released. Took a while to really get it, but once you live with this cd for a while (and you really will have to), the rewards pay off handsomely. |

...this is all I will say...by far and away the worst piece of sh*t this great band ever produced. Horrific and despicable! Nothing AT ALL like the classic and clever tunes of Saga from the late 70's and through the 80's. This is a huge turkey, trust me! |

My brains still hurting from trying to take in this album. Heavy going...I think I'll take Jez's advice and retry lots and lots of times. If you never hear from me again then my brain has fried! |

Nick - definately give it a chance - it pays off in the end. It definately ain't sh*t as the above says - although you do have to be a lover of all things prog to really appreciate it. |

Jez - I'll give it a go...I bought it when it came out (big Saga fan) but for some reason it never got massive air time back home! I'll get it out tonight when I get back and start all over again...even so far as having it in the car! haha! Cheers |

This does take a while to digest yet when you do, the rewards are great. The songs don't really stand out well on their own, yet when listened to as a whole it is done with a precision of a very talented group of musicians. Very tight and excellent production make this an enjoyable listen once you get past the first few spins. Give it a try and you will be rewarded with a very well played disc. |

Update:- Okay Jez ... I've hammered this CD over the last few weeks and....YES you are dead right it is certainly pretty fantastic when you listen to it as a whole work. The Cross is cool and the recurrance of I'll never be like you throughout is great. It all gels after a while!! Ahhhh the blind now see....thanks for making me give it a good listen!! I think Rycheage's comment nails it! |

Given my login, it'll come as no surprise that I simply adore this release. Stunning pomp /prog concept, which rewards with every listen. Love every release, with the exception of Pleasure & Pain. |

I thought this was an amazing cd. As stated above, you have to listen to the cd as a whole, and really get into the story Saga is telling. As I listened to it, I almost felt like I was "watching" a movie. The songs tell a story, and are so well crafted and put together, I feel it is a true masterpiece. For the casual listener looking for a hit song, I can totally see where you would be turned off at first listen. But give yourself time to listen from start to finish, and read the liner notes to get the story, and I guarantee that you will be blown away. |
