This is an adventurous record. It pushes the boundaries more than your average hard rock record, or any previous Dokken album and certainly rocks harder than Don's last album. It's more musically friendly to those that can appreciate modern hard rock, which means it may not appeal to some fans of the more instant and commercial Dokken albums. But it certainly achieves the goals Jeff and George set out to achieve and will impress many fans of the guys and could even bring in some new ones.

The above review is pretty dead on. You're not gonna find any "In Your Dreams" on here but it's pretty darn good hard rock with some modern influences but not so much that it comes across as forced. "Beast In The Box" & "Evil That You Are" are killer & "Cromanic" should make every Lynch Mob & Dokken fan happy!! If you were to marry this with Don Dokken's more melodic approach you might have a "hair" band release an album that's relevant to 14 year olds in 2003. Tons better than "Long Way..'

I can't beleive i wasted 15+ dollars on this piece of crap.George and Jeff are still excellent musicians, but this Lynch/Pilson disc is nothing more than modern nu-rock garbage. Thanks for nothing!By the way Dokken's "Long Way From Home"is by far superior to this.

From: Chris Date: June 22, 2003 at 13:59
There is no doubting that this is a very good album. It offers a lot for fans of both musicians and the band they once held together, Dokken. The album's sound is impressive, with a solid production and even mix between the bare-bones instrumentation. It also rocks quite impressively too!

Boy did I want to love this one. Lynch/Pilson make some cool sounds, but the songs are utterly forgetable. Pilson's vocals are often one dimensional leading to songs without much range. The tone of the record is very Lynch, dark, seductive, yet trying hard to be smart. I'm sure a few tunes will grab me over time, but it will never be a real winner. I should stop waiting for Lynch to make Back For the Wicked Sensation.

I totally agree with Trick. I was really waiting for this to come out, I guess I set my expectations too high. Not that it's a bad disc by any stretch, and it's always a pleasure to listen to Lynch, just nothing really stands out. A damn shame really... IMHO I still don't think this is "Nu-rock", Lynch is way too good a player to ever be classified as such, but there are some modern influences. I'd be happy with a few big choruses though...

Se acabaron los tiempos del back for the attack. DOKKEN forever.

Hey Blue charvel, do they play any of the singles off this cd in kingston? No I dont want them to rewrite the same hits they have had with Dokken or Lynch with his band people but at least try for better performances. Pilson can sing ok but when he screams its bad hes best left in the background but who ever made him think he should sing anyway? Lynch can shred and was so damn good back then until 95' is when he lost it but here he was not too bad hopefully next cd they will be better.

Hey Eurphoria, no they don't play too much of anything over here in Kingston, you from my 'hood?

From: Dean Date: January 12, 2004 at 16:46
Looks like I'm alone here when i say i think this disc is really good. Pilson's vocals took a little bit to grow on me on previous projects he sang with but i really like them now. Most of the tunes got stuck in my head immediately esp. "When You Bleed" I'll take this over that monstrosity "Smoke This" any day.

From: Eurphoria Date: January 19, 2004 at 3:20
Ha!Bizkit82 Well,if you like his nu-metal/computer sequenced guitar FILL-INN'S that should tell ya righ there is when he lost it when he cut/pasted his playing on his lynch piskit cd's (98'-02') but im sure you like that type of noise that all these bands today that sound the same..But before he did this bandwagon shit there was something else called Shadowlife! 97' He was playing grunge songs now! He and Dokken got slammed as a result.95' The begining of the downhill. History lesson over now

From: Bizkit82 Date: January 19, 2004 at 5:16
First off "Mr. I Can't Spell Simple Words Eurphoria," George might've expanded his boundaries and tried some different stuff that sucked azz big time, but the guy can play circles around most on this planet IMHO. The debate wasn't about whether the product being put out by Lynch and the gang was any good, we know it sucked, but rather if George had lost ground as a player. Had you not been so obtuse you would've gotten it. The fact is George is one of the finest. You've been schooled. Dismissed.

George is one hell of a guitarist, but this disc is Pure Dog Crap! As far as Lynch'goes he definitely still has it.Seeing him play live is all the proof one needs, and I would agree that George can still play circles around most .

This isn't a bad album, although it is in no way the best album of the year. The Drum sound is terrible, especially for the hype on this disc. However the Guitar sound deffinently makes up for it.

George and jeff would be lyin' if they say they don't miss don dokken. Jeff as lead vocalist? he did some background vocals in his earlier dokken years but he is just not don dokken. Anyway, this album is just to full of modern rock crap sounding. as much as i like both jeff and george, ithink they are a 'has been' but they still are much more talented than most of the new rock musician nowadays. Nevetheless, a good effort though!

don't expect a classic Dokken's hardrock in this CD, but I surely agree that this is a good experimental updated album with a modern touch. Try to spin 2-3 times and you'll find that this album is quite good. I gave it 7.5/10

From: Geoff Date: January 16, 2005 at 5:25
This was surprisingly good. Not surprising in the sense that you wouldn't expect it from two gentlemen like Pilson and Lynch, but given recent history of their careers I didn't hope for too much. But what do you know, I think they delivered the goods on a bunch of tracks here. Not great all the way through and there are some poor moments, but there are a few peices of heavy melodic rock here that please me greatly. Pretty good stuff.

Good hardrock indeed !

From: Betsy Browning Date: February 5, 2005 at 19:13
Jeff & George are both so incredibly talented. George Lynch is, and will always be my favorite guitar player, period. And way back when, in the mid 1980's I had the honor of introducing George to HIS favorite guitar player, Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest, one night at the Rainbow in W. Hollywood...they were both so humble and shy, I loved it.

From: metalmastermusic Date: June 25, 2008 at 11:33
Wow, there is a wide variety of opinions on this one ! I have always been a Dokken fan and that goes for Don,George and Jeff's solo albums. That said I find this album outstanding. The first track is incredible...this is quite a bit more dark sounding than anything Dokken put out and much heavier than anything on Pilson War & Peace first album so I found it a bit refreshing. The bottom line is it may not appeal to Dokken fans who are expecting to hear Don's trademark vocals but this album really does rock !! George rips as usual and you will not be disapppointed if you like killer guitarwork. 90/100

From: Doug Date: January 6, 2017 at 12:39
For me, this album reminds me of Dokken's "Dysfunctional" and "Shadowlife" albums, which for some are love/hate. This LP album is okay for me, not great but also not bad.

From: hair metal again Date: July 30, 2020 at 15:12
excellent release for those 2 great hard rockers and to be honest this much better than expected with George offering a solid performance and Jeff singing like in the WAR &PEACE!the songs are very good and especially "beast in the box","ever higher","the evil that you are" and "goodbye utopia"!nobody can do it like lynch and he still is among the best hard rock guitarists around!!essential
