Check the musicians playing here. Its phenomenal. Barnes is really , really good. I have several of his releases. The only problem is that his voice can get a bit annoying if you listen to a whole cd. I get the same annoying feeling when I listen to Dream Theater, Lemmy, Rush, Mariah Carey ;-) , MSG and King Diamond.

From: George Vader Date: June 30, 2003 at 12:53
some real class tunes here "Driving Wheels", "Last Frontier" and "Waiting For The Heartache" for example. Also keep an eye out for his superb double live Lp "Barnestrming Live" from the late 80's, top stuff!

From: aormilwaukee Date: November 16, 2003 at 10:21
best Jimmy Barnes c.d without a doubt. Great songs, great musician (neal schon, jonathan cain etc..) over all a must have for everyone who likes aor. Also check out his other albums they are really worth to have. rapayan@hotmail.com Nothing like the 80's mates, when albums were albums.

From: Rycheage Date: May 12, 2004 at 23:58
It features lots of barroom piano rolls on top of an energetic rhythm section. That honky-tonk piano can be heard on tracks like 'Driving Wheels' and 'Do Or Die'.. high stepping and high tapping. 'Last Frontier' demonstrates Jonathan Cain's mellow keyboard motifs on the intro, followed soon after by an excitable rhythm section. 'Lessons In Love' is an attempt to 'rock' out while the album closer 'Walk On' does just that, tailing off with melodic intent.

DECEPCION TOTAL. YA ESTAN AVISADOS POR UN EXPERTO. SALUDOS.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: October 17, 2004 at 11:14
LO SIENTO POR EL COMENTARIO, PERO TENGO BIEN CLARO LO QUE ES EL AOR COMO SURVIVOR, STAN MEISSNER, STREETS O HAYWIRE ESOS GRUPOS PARA MI SI QUE LO REPRESENTAN O UN BUEN ROCK MELODICO COMO ALIEN O HARD ROCK MELODICO COMO DALTON CON TOQUES AOR.

If you want to talk about very underrated talent, then talk about Jimmy Barnes. Incredible vocalist, capable to literraly shout keeping a soul vibe. Power, this man has the power in his throat. Really worth checking out for his double live release, one of the greatest shot of rock, a lesson. Also check out for Cold Chisel his former band where he shared vocals with another excellent vocalist in a completely different tone.

From: Metal Pete Date: November 29, 2004 at 14:13
Does he have a 'best-of' compilation? I like his track off of 'Lost Boys' sntrk, and I have the awesome tune 'No Second Prize'. He rocks pretty good and would like to hear more of his best.

From: Knuckles Date: November 30, 2004 at 5:35
Metal Pete yes he does.I have a double cd I bought in Australia called HITS.I also beloieve there is a single cd version as well but I would suggest the double one.Song off the lost boys soundtrack,"Good time" performed with Inxs is on there, along with a ton of good stuff including working class man off of the movie Gung Ho.No brainer,if you come across it.

From: clemens Date: December 24, 2004 at 10:50
jimmy barnes is the most powerful vocalist on this planet. i saw him about 7 or 8 times live, but the first show sticks in my memory. when the first song began i thought that he would never keep that up for about 1 and a half hour. but he did! just as loud and high as he sings on his records, he sang live. astonishing!!!

Last Frontier","Walk On","Waitin For..".IRREGULAR.

What the hell is this wimp doing here...........When Judas Priest an Malice cant get in...................

From: ArnoldLancelot Date: April 7, 2005 at 18:08
Agree with 9 champions, this one is not consistent overall but some tracks are indeed worth to listen to. Just as he said for a.o.r. purists the mixing with other elements (I would say southern rock mostly) turns out a little weird; and the blink 183 comparison just don't fit on this earth! Bottom line I would say a.o.r. mostly, but southern rock influenced. For those who like it that way, this one works.

From: Rockhead Date: April 8, 2005 at 3:53
This album was designed to break Jimmy in the States. The fact that Jon Cain and Neal Schon wrote on and played most of it is the reason it sounds very melodic. In terms of songs and production however it has not been equalled by Jimmy. An excellent album that combines his rock voice with Journey's sense of melody. A definate 10/10 that should appeal to almost everybody.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: April 8, 2005 at 3:59

From: Lennie Date: April 8, 2005 at 5:21
I agree with Rockhead...This is a great album! Barnes' vocals are killer and there are some real stand-out ballads in 'Too Much Aint Enough Love' and 'Waitin for the Heartache'. Powerful songs with great choruses - a southern feel to some, but the melodic side will be enough to win over most. A must have in my book.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 13, 2005 at 1:22
Aca reconozco que se me paso la mano y fui injusto, un gran cantante sin ninguna duda, y 4 buenos temas Waitin' for the Heartache(la mejor de hecho) Too Much Ain't Enough Love, Walk On, Last Frontier y por ahi 1 mas que se me escapa. no me gusta esto de las puntuaciones pero le daria un 5/10 por lo Irregular.

From: ArnoldLancelot Date: August 15, 2005 at 10:46
Thanks 9 CHAMPIONS A 1!, by the way I' ve just had a re-listen after some months and music style aside I gotta say, as Rafo said: he has a GREAT voice indeed!! Probably works just fine for the blend of styles but it really does works; great singer.

From: caritosmatanza Date: January 29, 2006 at 20:51
Bueno.7/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 25, 2007 at 18:05
This is an aor/southern album as simply as that!!!.I do not understand why some people said is just aor and some other said is southern rock but the point is that this guy has an amazing voice. If you doubt it listen to an album that is not posted here called "Live at the Chapel unplugged" and you will realize that is a hell of a bluesy singer.Maybe this "Freight Train Heart" is not essential but sure it has its beat!!!.Enough said.

From: shoemaker Date: October 5, 2007 at 10:44
With a little help from JOURNEY members Schon and Cain and Desmond Child especially. Mr. Barnes made a fine melodic Rock/AOR album. Rafo named the highlights here.

From: z4roxx Date: October 22, 2007 at 13:16

From: z4roxx Date: October 22, 2007 at 13:40
I must add:J.Barnes/two fires:MASTERPIECE!!!!!!!!

From: Whitesnake Date: October 24, 2007 at 4:53
But this one is a lot better than the "Two Fires" album! Go try it z4roxx - You won't regret it. Freight Train Heart: Masterpiece!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 4, 2011 at 23:35
I gave it another listening(first time was when i bought it on tape when it came out!!! ) and well..some mixed comments above that i already tried to explain about the music direction of this album way back in 2007...a matter of tastes which i entirely respect but my opinion about this release has to be good..."Too Much Ain't Enough Love","Waitin' For The Heartache","I Wanna Get Started With You","Lessons In Love" and the killer ballad "Walk On" are my favourites...tracks 1 & 3 are also pretty worth...recommended album...91/100

From: Doug Date: April 20, 2011 at 15:34
"Too Much Ain't Enough Love" and "Walk On" are my favorites on this one. Barnes is a very passionate singer.

From: halfordhughes Date: April 22, 2011 at 0:54
Too Much Ain't Enough Love and Waitin' for the Heartache are my fav tracks!
