| Awesome follow up to their debut album. My only complaint is the amount of ballads, especially the trio smack bang in the middle, one after the other.

| Lzzy Hale once again proves she is not just one of the best female vocalists in modern rock, but one of the best vocalists, PERIOD. She possesses the unique ability to sound sexual and sadistic at the same time, as if she would love to ride you to Heaven one moment and then rip the head off your shoulders the next. Strangely, it works, and the music compliments her vocal authority with crunch-a-licious guitars, thunderous drums, and edgy hooks. Sure, you can argue that the debut was better, but you can just as easily put forth the claim that this is a worthy and equal successor...neither position is erroneous. While not quite a perfect album--the back to back to back trio of ballads destroys the pacing--this is still more fun than giving a barrel of monkeys a case of firecrackers and a welding torch.

| I like Halestorm, really I do. Out of the current crop of radio-rock bands, they're among the best, which may not be saying much, but again, I dig 'em. And when this disc rocks, it rocks, hard, and in a way that's old-school enough for us old-schoolers. But then, there's a little too much Evanescence, too many piano ballads, Lzzy singing in a wispy little waifish voice. Then, a couple songs weirdly remind me of pop-country. "Rock Show" reminds me of that Lady Antebellum song where they try to be all hard-rock and name-check Springsteen and go "Yeah, yeah, yeah." And even weirder "Love Bites" reminds me of that Taylor Swift song that goes "She wears short skirts, I wear T-shirts. Bad enough I even know these fucking songs. I guess Halestorm is just trying to appeal to the market that doesn't listen to hard rock, but their boyfriends do. Good for them, I guess. But I like the first album better.

| I actually met these guys, before they were anybody, in about 2003. Went to college in their stomping grounds, and did a radio show on the campus station. This was when they still had their dad in the band. They were at the station during my shift, recording an interview for somebody else, and Roger heard somem song I was playing (I think it was Bar 7), and came into the control room and we chatted for a few minutes. Nice guy. A little later, Lzzy stuck her head in the door and asked "Is that Black Label Society?" I said yeah, sure is. She said "Oh, cool," and pulled her head back out. My brush with fame. Stop me if ya heard this one.

| Great story Doghouse. What I like about this band is their committment to hard rock.
