Of the three proper albums so far this for me is the weakest, but its still a great album. Its a little more diverse style wise than previous efforts, which isnt always a bad thing, but for me some of the songs just dont hit the mark for me (Bad girls world springs to mind). That said, when it does hit the mark it hits it big. Songs like Amen and Apocalyptic are classic Halestorm "hits", and Mayhem is one of those heavier tracks that make the hair on my balls stand on end. Over all a great effort with a couple of misfires.

Totally agree with "CC" well, except for the "make the hair on my balls stand on end" comment. Halestorm is one of my favorite bands currently (The Pretty Reckless is right there too). Their two previous albums are tremendous and way better, IMO. This one is good, but not great.

I really like Halestorm but this album is by far their weakest effort. They really should have gone with about 10 songs instead of 13 plus two bonus songs. The other 5 songs bring down the score of this album. If it's filler should just leave it off. I'm sure the record label pushed for the extra songs.

I think a lot of old rawker dudes give Halestorm too much credit, because they have a hot chick singer (who isn't goth and doesn't sing in an opera voice), and because they sound more like old-school meetalthan most of their active-rock radio contemporaries. People WANT to love them. They want to so bad! And don't get me wrong, they have some cool songs, but also a lot of fairly forgettable modern rock. Even their so-called "masterpiece," The Strange Case Of ... had several weak songs, like the absolutely dreadful "Break In." Into The Wild Life is a definite step down, both in terms of heaviness and because a lot of these songs just aren't that good. The riffs are generic, the lyrics are direct and literal like pop-country, and the melodies just aren't that catchy. Sure, it sounds good on the radio between 3 Days Grace and Papa Roach, but if everybody would stop beating their meat over Lzzy for one damn minute, they might realize how ordinary a lot of Halestorm's music actually is.

Nope, we give them credit because they are a great band. Having a hot chick fronting the band is just a bonus. You dont like em, fair enough, but please let the rest of us make our own minds up on why we like the band. If we only liked bands because of hot chicks we would all be listening to whatever big titted pop star is popular at the moment. Give us some credit.

Definitely have to disagree with some previous comments, frankly I find the notion that Halestorm is only famous cause of Lzzy's looks rather, offensive, sexist and misogynist, I think it's complete and utter BS. They are successful because they are talented, not cause people are "beating their meat" over Lzzy(the band has a lot of a female fans too BTW, how do you explain that?), there's plenty of good looking women that can't sing too well that are not successful on this level. I'll admit it's not quite up to par with the previous two albums, but it's by no means a bad album. It most certainly does not sound "pop country" in the least to me, the ballads and heavier songs are all pretty strong, Break In is most certainly not dreadful, it's a beautiful and moving song. "I Like It Heavy" is a damn good fist-in-the-air metal anthem, all in all this album delivers what it promises.

Time to expand, as someone we know likes to say. First off, I never said the music sounded like pop-country, I said the lyrics are direct and literal like pop-country. Now, about Lzzy ... I'm not necessarily ttalking about people on this site, but in my everyday travels, I rarely hear males talk about Halestorm without adding something like "And I'd sure like to bang her." (One friend, who actually interviewed the band, got on one knee and mock-proposed to her.) It's almmost like Lita Ford, another ace female musician whose good looks and cool personality covered for a fair amount of mediocre music (and, to be fair, plenty of musicians of both genders and all genres). Interestingly, you don't hear the kind of praise for a band like Sister Sin, whose songs are just as good, but whose singer isn't particularly attractive. And as for "Break In," if you like to hear Lzzy straining her voice to shriek through an overwrought ballad like a metal Katy Perry, more power to you. I'll pass. Again

Again ... I like Halestorm--when they rock, they rock. I'm just not giving extra credit for eye candy.
