This was a great album following what happened with Hanoi Rocks. Loved every track and still gets heavy rotation in my CD player. Recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Hanoi Rocks

In the lost light of Hanoi Rocks and Vince Niel's(Motley Crue) involuntary man slaughter of Razzel, Michael Monroe's ' Not Fakin It' is a straight, simple, un-hyphenated, 100811cdf8ure, 121 proof, full-strenght Rock 'n' Roll. No additives or preservatives. This is the real shit! 'Dead, Jail or Rock 'n' Roll', and 'Shake Down' are tunes that are sure to kick a kegger into overdrive! Hope your not serving light beer.

This mat not be the biggest album to come out in 1989 but, it's got some good musicians on it. Drummer, Anton Fig from 'Late Night with David Letterman', Little Steven doing backing volcals and Nasty Suicide on rhythum guitar. And if you like harmonica with your sleaz rock, than check Michael Monroe out. He got the 'harp' down pretty good!

He's released several other great solo efforts since this. This wasn't his first solo album, by the way. First Michael Monroe was titled 'Nights are so Long'. Released about a year after Hanoi Rocks broke up.

I never gave this guy a chance since I didn't like Hanoi Rocks. I recently got the promo video for Dead, Jail, or Rock N' Roll and it kicks major ass. Do any of his other releases follow in the same vein as that song? I like ruthless, take no prisoners glam. I'm not really keen on the lite stuff.

All night with the lights on is a good track with a great solo! The album isn't as good as the rating suggests.

This is a successful solo-career album which is quite enjoyable to listen........ And TIM, I don't know whether you heard it or not but there is a band called JERUSALEM SLIM including Michael Monroe together with the guitar-guru Steve Stevens. I heard their self-titled release and it was really impressive. I remember quite catchy songs from that album as 'Rock'n Roll Degeneration' and 'Teenage Nervous Breakdown' which are in classic fast-rock'n roll format.

Around the same time he did the Jerusalem Slim project (I want to say before JS), he had a harder edged band called Demolition 23 which also featured Sammy and Nasty from Hanoi Rocks. They released one album.

From: Ribap |

In my opinion the Demolition 23 album is the best that Michael Monroe has done. I like all his albums, but Demolition 23 is just killer. Also the first album, Nights are so long is pretty good. He has a new album 'Watcha want', check it out!

I must admit I didn't like this one back in the day, but for some reason I'm finding a new appreciation for a lot of bands, Hanoi included. This really is a damn good disc!

Mike is simply the king of r'n'r. This album is one of the greatest ones from the 80'. Exceptional melodies, great songs, great instruments and, above all, GRRREAT songs. 9,5 rate.

Very Straight Fwd Rock N Roll most of the time. But there are a few lighter melodic gems here, or lets say MTV oriented, like 'ALL NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS ON', MAN WITH NO EYES' and 'SMOKE SCREEN', those 3 songs make it worth. The rest is kinda avarage.

I'd have to agree with Christine on this one. I bought this back when it came out and listened to it a couple times maybe. Now it finds some regular play in my CD deck. Very solid release, not too much I'd change about it, just good straightforward rock 'n' roll with some addictive hooks. A little more polished than the Hanoi stuff IMHO.

Hey, I know Michael Monroe teamed up with Axl Rose for one song. Was that on this album?

Hey Desslar it was the first track 'Dead, Jail or Rock 'N Roll '

I could be wrong but I believe Axl Rose only appeared in the VIDEO for the song 'Dead Jail Or Rock N Roll', he didn't perform on the actual track.

This was a good album, although it has probably been like ten years since I heard. It was a lot more plain than I thought it would be, but still good.

From: Jade |

Wellthey were in that video together because Axl crashed the video shoot and michael liked Axl's way of things back then but the song they did together your thinkin of is 'Aint it fun' of GN'R Spaghetti Incedent from 93' a Stiv Bators punk song but this album was pretty good for what it was and he was great in hanoi and everything he has done.

this album brought the 80's in front of me, with so many man wore leather clothes, long and big hair, maskara on the eyes. if you like 80's music scene, this can bring back the memory. a really rock album. better than hanoi rocks.

'Man with no eyes' was a decent stab at commercial hard rock, which I enjoyed, and overall the album was musically impressive enough. I imagine it's a great one for Hanoi Rocks fans, but for me it was pretty average hard rock without the songs I needed to make it a great release. Decent, but I sold it and have not missed it for a second since.
