This was a great album following what happened with Hanoi Rocks. Loved every track and still gets heavy rotation in my CD player. Recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Hanoi Rocks

From: Seablooom Date: December 27, 2001 at 12:29
This album is not as good as his first Nights Are So Long.. But tracks like Dead,Jail Or Rock N'Roll is still kicking ass!!!!

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: March 3, 2002 at 17:02
In the lost light of Hanoi Rocks and Vince Niel's(Motley Crue) involuntary man slaughter of Razzel, Michael Monroe's ' Not Fakin It' is a straight, simple, un-hyphenated, 100811cdf8ure, 121 proof, full-strenght Rock 'n' Roll. No additives or preservatives. This is the real shit! 'Dead, Jail or Rock 'n' Roll', and 'Shake Down' are tunes that are sure to kick a kegger into overdrive! Hope your not serving light beer.

From: SleazyMusic Date: May 6, 2002 at 10:08
Too MTV oriented but cool. Anyway, GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES, Here's to you...The Prince of Glam: Mr. MICHAEL fuckin' MONROE GOOOOOOD

From: jason Date: June 1, 2002 at 15:48
This mat not be the biggest album to come out in 1989 but, it's got some good musicians on it. Drummer, Anton Fig from 'Late Night with David Letterman', Little Steven doing backing volcals and Nasty Suicide on rhythum guitar. And if you like harmonica with your sleaz rock, than check Michael Monroe out. He got the 'harp' down pretty good!

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: June 19, 2002 at 17:31
He's released several other great solo efforts since this. This wasn't his first solo album, by the way. First Michael Monroe was titled 'Nights are so Long'. Released about a year after Hanoi Rocks broke up.

From: TIM Date: August 11, 2002 at 15:26
I never gave this guy a chance since I didn't like Hanoi Rocks. I recently got the promo video for Dead, Jail, or Rock N' Roll and it kicks major ass. Do any of his other releases follow in the same vein as that song? I like ruthless, take no prisoners glam. I'm not really keen on the lite stuff.

From: David Date: August 11, 2002 at 20:14
All night with the lights on is a good track with a great solo! The album isn't as good as the rating suggests.

From: rocknutter2001 Date: August 15, 2002 at 10:51
one of my all time fav albums this really rocks michael monroe showed us there was life after hanoi rocks and also check out his other albums they all rock

From: nifty Date: September 6, 2002 at 18:17
it aint heavy and it aint soft...this is great rock music..label it glam or whatever u like but it is only rock n roll...luv it

From: Baris Date: October 1, 2002 at 6:09
This is a successful solo-career album which is quite enjoyable to listen........ And TIM, I don't know whether you heard it or not but there is a band called JERUSALEM SLIM including Michael Monroe together with the guitar-guru Steve Stevens. I heard their self-titled release and it was really impressive. I remember quite catchy songs from that album as 'Rock'n Roll Degeneration' and 'Teenage Nervous Breakdown' which are in classic fast-rock'n roll format.

From: robert Date: October 31, 2002 at 8:39
MAN WITH NO EYES acojonante!! es el mejor tema para mi gusto de calle, el resto esta muy lejos. no dejeis de oir ese tema si podeis..

From: Luce Date: November 5, 2002 at 13:51
dirty, funny, straight..it's fuckin' rock and roll man!!!

From: e5150 Date: January 11, 2003 at 11:49
Great! great album!! Michael monroe is real entertaner!!

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: February 12, 2003 at 13:29
Around the same time he did the Jerusalem Slim project (I want to say before JS), he had a harder edged band called Demolition 23 which also featured Sammy and Nasty from Hanoi Rocks. They released one album.

From: Ribap Date: March 9, 2003 at 15:27
In my opinion the Demolition 23 album is the best that Michael Monroe has done. I like all his albums, but Demolition 23 is just killer. Also the first album, Nights are so long is pretty good. He has a new album 'Watcha want', check it out!

From: ben moss Date: May 3, 2003 at 7:18
really a gotta have if you were a fan of hanio rocks i think you will love it .if you were not a fan, then i dont know,i remember that the first time i heard hanio rocks i wasnt sure i love em now though, but as ribap says above his new album is shit hot, hasent left my player for 2 weeks

From: lover of krel Date: May 23, 2003 at 5:11
Krel, beer and a pack of smokes!!! This album rules!!!!!

From: Christine Date: October 24, 2003 at 4:58
I must admit I didn't like this one back in the day, but for some reason I'm finding a new appreciation for a lot of bands, Hanoi included. This really is a damn good disc!

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: November 2, 2003 at 11:53
Whatcha' Want is awesome. A lotta great stuff on that one. I like Telephone Bill Is All Mine and Rumours Sets the Woods Alight. Great stuff!!

From: CC Date: November 27, 2003 at 12:36
Currently submitting more stuff by Mike. I just submitted Nights are so long & Life gets you dirty, but will soon submit Demolition 23 & Jerusalem Slim, probably a handful of Hanoi stuff as well!

From: jose. espaņa Date: December 2, 2003 at 15:53
Mike is simply the king of r'n'r. This album is one of the greatest ones from the 80'. Exceptional melodies, great songs, great instruments and, above all, GRRREAT songs. 9,5 rate.

From: Eugenio 'Waite' Date: January 6, 2004 at 21:22
Very Straight Fwd Rock N Roll most of the time. But there are a few lighter melodic gems here, or lets say MTV oriented, like 'ALL NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS ON', MAN WITH NO EYES' and 'SMOKE SCREEN', those 3 songs make it worth. The rest is kinda avarage.

I'd have to agree with Christine on this one. I bought this back when it came out and listened to it a couple times maybe. Now it finds some regular play in my CD deck. Very solid release, not too much I'd change about it, just good straightforward rock 'n' roll with some addictive hooks. A little more polished than the Hanoi stuff IMHO.

From: Desslar Date: January 12, 2004 at 4:58
Hey, I know Michael Monroe teamed up with Axl Rose for one song. Was that on this album?

From: AOR freaky Date: January 12, 2004 at 6:27
Not my cup of tea at all ! Weak release, too simple songs ! No, this is a bad one, I'm afraid !

From: Greg Date: January 12, 2004 at 10:20
Hey Desslar it was the first track 'Dead, Jail or Rock 'N Roll '

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 12, 2004 at 14:18
I could be wrong but I believe Axl Rose only appeared in the VIDEO for the song 'Dead Jail Or Rock N Roll', he didn't perform on the actual track.

From: TIM Date: January 12, 2004 at 17:10
Wish he had .

From: Desslar Date: January 13, 2004 at 6:52
Thanks. I remember being very surprised to see Axl in the video. I didn't know he and Monroe were friends.

From: red Date: February 9, 2004 at 22:30
This was a good album, although it has probably been like ten years since I heard. It was a lot more plain than I thought it would be, but still good.

From: Jade Date: April 12, 2004 at 5:55
Wellthey were in that video together because Axl crashed the video shoot and michael liked Axl's way of things back then but the song they did together your thinkin of is 'Aint it fun' of GN'R Spaghetti Incedent from 93' a Stiv Bators punk song but this album was pretty good for what it was and he was great in hanoi and everything he has done.

From: Mike h Date: June 3, 2004 at 21:27
great solo career album. real rocky and bluesy. DEAD, JAIL, OR ROCK 'N ROLL is one helluva song!

From: smacky Date: June 19, 2004 at 3:12
this album brought the 80's in front of me, with so many man wore leather clothes, long and big hair, maskara on the eyes. if you like 80's music scene, this can bring back the memory. a really rock album. better than hanoi rocks.

From: Kostyl Date: January 5, 2005 at 20:07
Every night I listen this album, it gives me a power of life. Thanxx

From: Roxas Date: January 6, 2005 at 23:44
I guess youll be up all night with the lights on then Kostyl

From: Geoff Date: January 9, 2005 at 0:24
'Man with no eyes' was a decent stab at commercial hard rock, which I enjoyed, and overall the album was musically impressive enough. I imagine it's a great one for Hanoi Rocks fans, but for me it was pretty average hard rock without the songs I needed to make it a great release. Decent, but I sold it and have not missed it for a second since.

From: metalalways Date: August 10, 2006 at 11:42
this cd kicks ass dead, jail or rock 'n' roll being the song for me that song just flat out rocks i never saw the video yet sure it's cool i like hanoi rocks too there are other good songs too on here like smoke screen, thrill me, not fakin' it, love is thicker than blood, and shakedown all kick ass songs this gets a 9 out of 10.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: October 30, 2010 at 20:19
Brilliant album!!!!...like metalalways said,it kicks a** dead!!! ..."Dead,Jail Or Rock 'N' Roll" is an enthusiastic starter, pretty wild,"While You Were Looking At Me" if you like The Cult, this track's 4 ya!!,"She's No Angel" excellent,"All Night With The Lights On" one and with sexy lyrics ,"Not Fakin' It" rocks the house,"Shakedown" another blasting one,"Man With No Eyes" is kinda AORish & "Love Is Thicker Than Wood" is also on the "package" of brutal ones!!!...Michael's obviously one hell of a performer either with Hanoi Rocks or as a solo artist..this release is a must to every self respected Glam Rockers out there...95/100

From: the rocker Date: January 11, 2012 at 22:50
I like this cd. I was an average fan of Hanoi Rocks(had all the tapes) but never really all that into them. Then this came out, and I was like wow THIS I like! Dead,Jail Or RnR, While You Were Looking At Me, Man With No Eyes, All Night With The Lights On, Smoke Screen, & Love Is Thicker Than Blood are all great songs. I recommend.

From: hair metal again Date: July 17, 2022 at 9:38
