Never reinventing the wheel, but certainly contributing to tweaking it, Y&T teetered the line between hard rock, heavy metal, & hair metal, sometimes melding those genres & helped to define a generation of rockers between 1974-1991. The bands output early on had a raw edge, possibly somewhere between Montrose & metal. As the 1980's dawned, Y&T were very much hitting their stride, outputing 3 hard hitting albums and creatively peaking. The production on Earthshaker was enormous, allowing for flexibility & precision. Black Tiger & Mean Streak followed & were nearly identical, cementing the bands identity while securing tours with headlining icons of similar ilk such as AC-DC, Alice Cooper & Ozzy. Commercial success eluded the group until they became more mainstream with their next release In Rock We Trust. By 1987, Y&T had success with their party anthem Summertime Girls and it was even featured in the tv series Baywatch. |

This album surprisingly, unless my old eyes are deceiving me, nothing from the "Contagious" album. That album is tremendous, easily my favorite by Y&T. A big omission, IMO. |
