Well, another Dream Theater Album, and i still miss Images and Words after heard this album. Sorry guys. |
From: Rycheage | Date: February 10, 2002 at 18:11 |
Most people forget that a band has to grow and move about or else they stale and fade away. This CD is a great progression for Dream Theater after the accolades given them after Scenes From A Memory. The first disc is a bit dark in its subject matter and the decond disc is 6 different types of problems that people face and how they deal with them. 6 types of Inner Turbulence. I totally recommend this CD. Images & Words it is not but a progression from that disc. |

My favorite Dream Theater album... The Glass Prison is one of the greatest songs in a while. Listening to The Great Debate in headphones will give you chills. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence the 40 minute song isn't as good as A Change of Seasons, but is still a great track. |

Yet another classic from the still-reigning kings of prog metal... times 2! The first disc is an example of the best of sludge metal, with plodding riffs, haunting keyboards, and dark lyrics and vocals. The second disc is an example of the best of melodic prog, with beautiful melodies and the well thought out concept of mental disabilities. Essential Dream Theater, with gifts for all fans of hard rock and heavy metal! Also reccomend Scenes from a Memory and Awake! |

true the images cd is the best, james voice is so clean and tight, later cds sound more harsh and heavy, but still awesome prog! if u like images style,i suggest another superb band who ranks right up there, and no its not q-ryche or rush, these guys r so clean, fresh pounding prog..BALANCE OF POWER! check their link on this site, and the tune SHELTER ME,at 1st i thought it was mike p on drums and john p on guitar, very detailed, great timing, top notch prog. as mike p would say.."BALLS AND CHUNK" !!!! |

My favorite album is SFAM, I think a lot of you are stuck in the past, no offense. I even thought Awake was better than Images and Words. Anyhoo this album takes a little bit longer to get used to, but once given the chance you really start to develop an ear for their desplayed genius. I feel like a lot of Dream Theater fans have yet to experience SYMPHONY X. SYMPHONY X = Dream Theater + more balls and chunk + an orchestra + better vocals + less cheesy piano solos(sorry Jordan) + honor/valor. |

CodeStyles my poor frined you don't even know what are you talking about...... Images & Words is the best album from Dream Theater, although all of the are great abums..... amazing albums!!!!! But you are wrong in your comparision with Symphony X man, they are a great group (I have all their cd's to)but there's not that difference between LaBrie and Rullo, this one is more a heavy voice than LaBrie's but not better. And the main difference between Symphony X & Dream Theater is JOHN PETRUCCI!! |
From: Satriani | Date: March 30, 2003 at 19:46 |
Hey I'm the same one up here, I just want to finish with the comparision between Dream Theater & Symphony X,Dream Theater has the best guittar player on the world, (only Joe Satriani is above him),Romeo is good but he can't beat Petrucci at any field (sound, speed, technique, rythim changes, melodies.....) Also John Myung is better bassit than Lepond, and let's don't talk about Mike Portnoy the Prog Rock Drummer per excelence. |

Dream Theater are the absolute masters of prog/rock-metal ! They are the best musicians EVER in history of pop music ! Not one band can touch 'em, not even the mighty Rush ! They are head and shoulders above any competition ! Their new CD is once again a masterpiece (TRain Of Thought !). All their CD's are SUPERB and the work of genius !!!! |
From: Knuckles | Date: November 25, 2003 at 11:35 |
Though I agree Dream Theatre are an awesome and very talented band, they still are in a group of bands that fall short of rush. In fact,a group I feel that is giving them a run for their money is Threshold. They have pumped out a few masterpieces themselves. Rush sets the standards, all others simply try to live up to those. |
From: Delibriand | Date: December 21, 2003 at 7:35 |
Each one, DT, Symphony X and Rush, have their own style, you can't compare them (I think Symphony X is more related to Rhapsody than to DT, those medieval lyrics.. argh). IMHO, I still think DT is the best of them: they have the best musicians who still can play a enjoyble and extremely well-constructed musics. Even the lyrics are awsome - just pick The Glass Prison or The Great Debate from this album. It's not the greatest DT album, but still it's worth each penny. |

THis is definitely the best, musically, that dream theater has done. All of the songs are exceptional. This is definately on of their best albums ever by far. For anyone to come up with a solid 42 minute song just blows my mind. Anyone who thinks this is not a good album doesn't know what their saying. |
From: Kim Jackie | Date: June 8, 2004 at 18:21 |
Those who did't like that album I advise you to listen it carefully again and try to consume their songs. I didn't like it much at first but when I had had time i've listen it all from start to end and i was really amazed and still am. |

Al principio no me gusto mucho, luego empezo a picarme, al final es uno de mis favoritos, hay ke darle muchas escuchas a este album, por que es genial. Dissapera, the great debate, escuchadlas por favor, y luego el temazo six degrees... 9/10 |

this is the first DT idont really like.of course it s not a bad one and it has its moments but unfortunately there aren t any catchy hooks n melodies and the sound is quite heavy and dark .i d say that this is their worst and only for die hard fans who want full discography |

My first experience of DT was "I&W" album in a circulation cd library (those were the times!) in 1992. The short description of this music said something about a mixture of Metallica and Rush. Well, I'm still not sure about it but as for the album "6DoIT" I suppose it might work (the 1st cd mainly). Otherwise, this is pure DT and there is no doubt who the king of prog metal is (I regard Fates Warning as one and only archrival). Anyway, I prefer rather less "academic" music but on the other hand an album where such beautiful songs like "Solitary Shell" are can't be rated less than 75/100. |
