Sep. 6, 2025: Update: Temporary Message Board ClosureUpdate: Board ourage has been delayed due to consultant's schedule. Outage TBD. The company hosting the message board sprung a surprise price hike on me that would have more than tripled the monthly hosting costs, so I've been scrambling to find an alternative. I've purchased a license for self-hosting a different platform and am hiring a consultant to migrate the existing board's content (posts, user profiles, etc.). However, this means I need to shut down the message board for anywhere from 3 days to (hopefully less than) a week so the data can be migrated. While this is an expensive proposition up front, it should result in some long-term savings. I will post updates here. The main site (where you are reading this), will NOT be affected. -Dan |

Traditional ZZ Top album more or less in the same line of "Antenna"(1994) but inferior..."Rhythmeen","Black Fly","Vincent Price Blues"(solid song),"Zipper Job","She's Just Killing Me" & "Pretty Head" are good songs...86/100 ![]() |

this one is a winner...in the same style has antenna with chunky heavy riffs, clean crisp distorsion well...amazing prodution,as far for the music we can't go wrong, fresh, modern, catchy songs, great solo stuff from mr.gibbons, his pinched harmonic style combine with old vein blues chords are like a million dolars in my account...just pick this one up,its good like earlier albums |

I think people had kinda given up on ZZ Top at this point, after they beat the Eliminator formula to death on the subsequent two albums. I don't remember Antenna getting a whole lot of attention either, but by '96, the band were well and truly relegated to the land of the dinosaurs. Too bad, because Rhythmeen is a terrific, stripped-down blues-rock record. Production is crisp and clean, but with none of the dated '80's trappings they had overused on albums like Afterburner and the aptly-named Recycler. "She's Just Killing Me" was on the soundtrack for the movie From Dusk 'Til Dawn, and it just slams! - one of the best tracks here. But really, the whole album is chock-full of goodness, songs like "Bang Bang," "Black Fly," "What's Up With That," "Hairdresser" and "My Mind Is Gone." Rhythmeen is a really underrated album from a very strange year. |

More bluesy than before and closer to the early (less commercial) releases, still good overall. For fans MUST HAVE. |
