The only benefit about Dante Gizzi's role as a vocalist is because he is one of the founders of the band but talking about his vocal skills...ummm...pretty simple to be honest...the band had recently Toby Jepsen of Little Angles fame as a lead singer and well deep inside, we all wanted the good old Mark Rankin to come back but the guy is almost out of this planet(FBI please take notice )...i had the chance to see them live back in late 80's when they had just released their debut "Taking On The World" album and Mark was like the trademark of the band...about this album, yeah quite poppy and newly sounded(modern rock)that shamely has nothing 2 do with their glorious past..."Running Out Of Time","14 Stations","Caught In The Middle" & "Break The Silence"(both are nice modern and catchy AORish songs),"How Many Roads"(nice)& "Innocent Thieves"(nice)are my faves...if you are open minded you'll dig this otherwise try the band's old stuff...86/100

*Little Angels(Toby Jepson)...sorry about the spelling mistake of both Toby's last name and his mother band Little Angels...

HOW DO THEY GET AWAY PUTTING THE NAME GUN ON THE COVER OF THIS DISC, they should be brought up on charges of using a band name to rip you off and steal your money, you don't feel the originality you felt when you put on Taking On The World, you don't get any of the raging heart pounding semi heavy catchy songs you experienced the 1st time you played Gallus, you don't even feel the relief that swept thru you the very 1st time you spun Swagger on your CD player, no here you don't get any of that, hear you GET SOME FUCKED UP SHITTY ASS NO TALENT HOOK LESS SONGS THAT SOUND LIKE THEY WERE WRITTEN TO GO STR8 TO THE RADIO, ONLY THEY AREN'T EVEN CATCHY ENOUGH TO SUCCEED ON THE RADIO, IT'S LAME FUCKING BALL-LESS COWARD ROCK, AND THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO CREDIBILITY TO EVEN BE PUTTING THOSE 3 LETTERS ON THE COVER OF THIS, THIS IS NO TALENT, NO HOOKS, COAT TAIL RIDDING GARBAGE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, AND IMPORTANTLY DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! GO BUY GALLUS AGAIN!!

It's been well over 15 years since we had a really decent Gun album ('95 excellent 'Swagger') and to be brutally honest, I had pretty much given up on them releasing anything really good, never mind a whole brand new album. I've read a couple of wholly inaccurate reviews of of 'Break The Silence' (look above for one) already and I will say categorically, Ignore what you've heard and check it out for yourself. Yes It does has a slightly more commercial edge on a few tracks, but Gun have released many melodic gems in the past, so soundwise they aren't much different at all tbh. Don't let that fool you into believing this doesn't rock out in places because it most certainly does. 'Bad Things' for starters kicks Butt and reminds to a small degree of Lostprophets - good chorus to this one too. Other highlights include the excellent title track and 'Caught In The Middle' 2 commercial rockers that keep the quality firmly at the top . 'How Many Roads' slows things down and is a nice ballad whi

....whilst 'Running Out Of Time' picks the pace up once more. There are a couple of fillers, 'Lost And Found' is pretty mediocre and 'No Substitute' whilst having a good melody, is a little repetative. Overall, this is a really good Gun disc, maybe not reaching some of the high points of some of the earlier releases, but it most definitely has a lot to offer and is a fine album.

Something that is for sure is that this ain't the band i saw live in LATE 80'S when they released their glorious "Taking On The World" debut album...obviously it ain't a bad album because it has its fine moments but as i wrote above...if you are open minded ok,if not,try the band's old stuff...innacurate in what???...

WOW! What a rebound after over 10 years of nothing, and their last offering being a flimsy, over-produced piece of crap, GUN ARE BACK!!! Break The Silence is actually not too far off from 1994's "SWAGGER" effort, which was good. Since then, the line-up has changed enormously, with Mark Rankin exiting, Alex Dickson departing in 94, and a whole slew of drummers too-ing and fro-ing out the doors. Break The Silence kicks off with "Butcher Man" which is simple yet effective. Sure, this ain't as awesome as 1989's Taking On The World but it sure is a great album to me! (my only complaint is the overly loud and clunky production which hampers the overall feel a bit).

Hey Rick, I just noticed this, Jez would be speaking about my comments, he obviously didnt agree with the scorcher I gave this, cause it's not good Jez, how the fuck can you sit here and tell people this is a good Gun album? When it's not, yeah maybe if they had called themselves Guns, or The Gun, or even Guns & Ammo, I could review this with some sort of clarity and freshness, but to put this in any conversation with anything Rankin sang on, is disingenuous, and fabrication, OK the songs are OK, they are certainly standable when compared to that garbage they had put out prior, but this IS NOT A GOOD GUN CD, YOU CANNOT HAVE GUN WITHOUT MARK RANKIN, SORRY, END OF CONVERSATION.
