MONSTER CD !!!!! BRILLIANT AOR, better than everything done by Kevin Chalfant, and that means a lot. Yes, Two Fires and The Storm are fantastic, but this is PHENOMENAL !!! BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY !!!!! You don't have to believe me, but if you're an AOR fan you MUST have this MASTERPIECE !!! And now we'll see the ratings nailed down by some idiot who seems to hate me. CHildish !!!!

Originally recorded in '85, this was a pre-cursor to the debut Storm cd.How they didn't get a record deal at the time with this is beyond me. Anyway, Good to finally have this on a proper release. Very strong throughout, especially Ross Valory's bass playing and of course Kevin Chalfant's vocals, along with a good set of songs. Not the best ever release of it's type, but definately recommended if you're into the Journey/ Storm etc etc style Aor.

this was an ok album. about 8.0 on the scale so it blows my mind that this thing has 364 rating's but only 3 comments. It does have hints of the STORM but it is average. worth having, the ebay price it pretty good for it.

A vibrant AOR gem that keeps its spirits high and a great party atmosphere. Standout tracks in Keys To The City, Dreaming Your Life Away and the show closer So Long.

It seems there are two different releases of this CD. The other one is with 'Lonely Heart' i.o. 'Somewhere here' but I don't know whether it is Japanese or European or..?

Also good are Double Cross, Outland and a bit heaviër the new Dream Theater, Cornerstone, Brazen Abot, Hughes/Turner 2,Silver etc. I forget a lot, but the V.U. is also KILLER AOR !

Manificent AOR, the way it should be done! I'm a bit confused by the fact that these guys never secured a deal in the late 80's, if they had I'm shure they would have been huge!

This is a real gem, and fully agree with most of the above. I think this is more consistent than the 2 Fires albums (and better produced) and the first Storm album, but I'd probably take 'Eye of the Storm' over this myself. Is all down to personal taste though, and I wouldn't have a bad word said against this one. 'Keys to the City' is magnificent, and the last 3 tracks are just killers. This is essential keyboard-driven mid-80's AOR. 9.5/10.

Played this twice today,it was well worth it.Keys to the City is superb. It is just worrying in the U.K. that we dont get quality new releases as quick as everyone else. But they say the older ones are the best.

Wow, just heard this for the first time last night and today! I love it. I'm a really big fan of Mr Chalfant's voice (Just had the two brilliant The Storm CDs on this week too!). This is really good AOR / melodic rock and a lot better than I was expecting (Thus why I only heard it now). Great voice, great songs and a great CD!

Geoff,I am glad you like this gem and The Storm as well.Concerning AOR/WESTCOAST I am afraid I am stuck in the fluffy keyboard driven world where you have say luurrrve at every given opportunity.I do like some more modern material, but I cant escape the void that is AOR.

fantastic AOR !! Chalfant's best effort , so much better than two fires ,as good as the storm maybe a bit better. Songwriting and production are perfect.Low credits for the cover though , what a trash design!

The VU is an all-star cast of AOR musicians. The songs are very well written & very catchy. 'Who You Gonna Believe?' was on Cher's Love Hurts Cd & Keys To The City was supposed to be on Starship's No Protection Cd. How they did not get a record deal is beyond me. This is a classic!!!

As I've not bought anything much for a couple of weeks I've been looking for stuff to play. Ah The VU! Not played this for a while and bang onto the CD player. I'd forgotten just how good this little release is - there's some superb songs. I wouldn't call it a bona fide classic but it's not too far off. If you like slick radio friendly AOR it's definitely worth searching out, maybe even essential. After a little looking up on the web I was surprised to discover it's now deleted, pity. 8.75/10

itīs not a classic for me but this one is a Very Good AOR/MR album. Kevin Chalfantīs voice is excellent of course as keyboards sound too. "Keys to the City" defines this album (Brilliant keys as FREAKY said). 8.7/10

This sounds like a decent album rather than the classic that some reviewers are calling it. Tracks 3,5 and 9 are fillers, and while I like the first track "Who you gonna believe", Cher did it better! It's probably heresy to say that here!

A very pleasant one solo album project with former members of Journey and The Storm...nothing can go wrong with such luminaires in it...best tracks for me are "Walk Through The Fire" & "Dreaming Your Life Away"...other goodies are "So Long"(solid mid tempo),"Who Ya Gonna Believe?","Keys To The City" & "One Track Mind"...enjoyable...87/100
