Good record indeed. You should add it to your collection. Not really a classic, but still great AOR, worth every penny !

Debut solo outing from this House of Lords singer, one of the greatest vocalists in all of melodic hard rock. This CD is good enough to make angels weep, thanks to the great production, big AOR hooks, excellent choruses, and stacked backing vocals. Just about any fan of this genre should instantly fall in love with awesome songs like 'The Warden' and 'Love Should've Brought You Home.' If you don't own this album, you need to wake up and see--or should I say, hear?--what you've been missing.

His solo album is also a little softer than House Of Lords, a more AOR blend of mid paced AOR anthems like 'Pleasure And Pain', 'Brighter Day', 'Labor Of Love' and 'Mother Night' unplugged ballads 'Katie' and 'Where Does Love Go When It's Gone' and the major power ballad 'Love Should Have Brought You Home'. If you don't have this yet, go out and get it.

I like his version of Steelhouse Lane's 'Brighter Day a LOT. Good album.

Good AOR album, nothing special, but worth having in your collection ! A bit softer indeed than House Of Lords.

Great album. Still apart from 'Candle in the Window' I prefer the ballads to the rockers... I doubt James played everything on this album, so who the hell are the musicians behind the music?

I notice a lot of the original versions are all over eBay at the moment, probably because the one to own is the re-issue with the bonus tracks. The 2 Judith Randall written songs are excellent: "Candle in the Window" and "Love Has No Mercy" (that Airkraft had previously used). The album itself is up and down, and generally is more pop/rock than the bombastic AOR of House of Lords, but has some decent tunes. I'd take H.O.L or Giuffria product over this though. 7/10.

This is a good release to have sitting in your collection, as AOR Freaky notes. Sort of like a bunch of 'Demons Down' b-sides is what it sounds like to me. 'Brighter Day' is a great track, but better by Steelhouse Lane, 'Katie' is a delightful tune and a clear winner for me, 'Best Girl' is killer commercial hard rock, as is 'Woman Enough'. Though this is nowhere near as good as 'Demons Down', if you like the sound of that disc I think you'll like this. Good album.

TEMAZOS. DISCAZO. UNA OBRA DE ARTE. LABOUR OF LOVE, IRREPETIBLE.

You want to talk about great openers!, Don't start me up is awesome and right up there with Tyketto's Forever young for openers. Elsewhere we have The Warden, Woman enough( which Alias also did), Katie ( good ballad), Cold day in hell, and Best girl (good commercial rocker). I recommend!

james christian is a fantastic singer one of the best of the world with steeve lee (rip),david coverdale, michael bormann and mr scott soto (talisman).i recommand the reissue with 7 bonus tracks.cause the original record is soft.(too many ballads).with the 7 bonus the result is excellent.i have in my collection jamas christian early demos vol 1 vol 2 ;28 songs japan import no official.several fillers but many super songs with a decent sound!!!!!!!!

I regard James Christian as an excellent singer similar to those ones 123charpenay writes above. This album is well-written, very well-sung, only the final mix could have been more precise. Despite this fact this is great melodic hard aor rock with bluesy vibes. If you are stuck among bands like House Of Lords (of course), Gotthard, Whitesnake or even Giant (listen to #5) you surely have this album at home. 85/100.
