I remember the video for "God Promised a Paradise" played on Headbangers Ball quite a bit back in the good ol' days. Awesome song. the rest of the album is ok. I had this on tape but have had no luck finding it on CD.

This is the best Masi Album. God promised.., Undercover..and Hangin on are very good 80ies Hardrocksongs. On Vocals was one of the coolest singer ever, David Fefolt ex, Hawk and Valhalla. He is brillant, where is he now???

God Promised A Paradise is a great song but the rest of the album didn't do much for me. I paid $1.99 and turned around and traded it back in a month later.

Alex Masi can shred !--This guy unfortunately got the "Yngwie Clone" gloss, hardly commanding any respect outside guitar circles. He is definitely underrated as a songwriter as evidenced on 'Downtown Dreamers'.On the songs "Paradise","Hellraiser" and the kick-ass "Thunder & Lightning" he proves he's d*mn worthy !---This is the probably the most 'Band Oriented' release from Masi',with alot of his records being instrumental-esque.Love the M.Diglio(XYZ)like tone on Thunder'.Pretty d*amn nice

Alex Masi should have stuck to recording more commercial albums like "Downtown Dreamers". he's a good player but the instrumental thing can get boring. this album rocked and should have been much bigger. you can't beat the combination of great songs, great guitar, and great vocals!

Once the chorus of "God promised a paradise" gets stuck in your head it is impossible to get it out. Decent album -"God.." was very cool.

HEY you, are you crazy or what?; so few comments on this wonderful album? I don't understand why. This one has got it all: superb production (Howard Benson), superb Guitar Hero with balls, superb lead singer with attitude, looks and a very Nadir D'Priest-RJ Dio voice style and great catchy songs in the vein of Ratt,Dokken and London. PERFECT.10/10.

Yeah, very good Glam Rock from 1988. 80/100 David Fefolt was also the singer for the band Hawk - S/T album from 1984/1985 which is very good traditional metal from the best era for rock/metal (the mid-80's).

"God Promised A Paradise" is one of those songs that got heavy rotation on Headbangers' Ball for a time, and then seemingly vanished (see also "Breakout" by Damien). It's a cool song, but probably the best thing here. Obviously, the band is a vehicle for Alex Masi's shredding, so many of the other songs rely too much on guitar pyrotechnics to cover up their overall blandness. It's kinda like if Yngwie joined mid-period Ratt; the singer even reminds me of Pearcy with his rasp and his offhand delivery. Come solo time, the guitars jump way up in volume, which is not really necessary. But as pretty much the entire Shrapnel Records roster found out the hard way, you gotta have good songs if you want to appeal to anybody besides other shredders, and though Masi tried, they just didn't have 'em, but for one shining example.
