Roth was so funky on this one--some pretty cool tunes with "Steamrock Fever" being the best track. This one is as good as their late 80's material, but can't compare to the early-mid '80's work.

great cd from these germans, not a bad track on this one. Really it's a great album 9.5/10 from me

From: Rockforever Date: July 20, 2002 at 11:12
This was the last Scorps records before they broke America with Lovedrive. This is the first album Herman Rarebell plays on,and is also the finale for Uli John Roth,an amazing guitarist whose blatant Hendrix-styled playing was astounding,if derivative.Steamrock Fever is a powerful start, while songs like He's a Woman She's a Man are rocking Scorps tunes. The highlights are the two epics, We'll Burn the Sky and Born to Touch Your Feelings.Great vocals and amazing axework - timeless classics.

From: Scott Date: February 17, 2003 at 15:05
Gotta agree with the above posts, Ulrich Roth is amazing! This is one of the Scorps finest moments ever. http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/scorpions.htm

From: Kulvertmannen Date: May 6, 2003 at 18:27
Perhaps their best album. Tracks 1,2,5 and 7 are great. Great riffs from Rudy and great leads from Uli. However, the Scorps have never delivered a solid album. You get a couple of good tunes but never an entire album...

From: Rockhead Date: March 10, 2004 at 12:59
Have to Disagree with the utter bollocks reference Scorpions not releasing a solid album. Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism and Blackout are very solid from start to finish. This is good aslo but Lovedrive is the real deal.

From: Metal Pete Date: March 10, 2004 at 18:35
Completely agree, Rockhead. That trio of albums is my favorite, and the high quality even extends to Love at First Sting. Lovedrive is a fantastic record, with beautiful songs and the moving instrumental 'Coast to Coast'. Their shining moment was those 3 (or 4) albums, without a doubt. NO offense to Uli but they did not need him to make their finest music.

Sorry Metal Pete-I dont know why I forgot Love At 1st Sting-This too is an awesome release. Early 80's Scorpions does it for me everytime. I wish they would go back and combine all the elements of those 4 classics, Bring in Schenker to guest, Dieter Dirks to produce-if only

From: schenker fan Date: April 27, 2004 at 1:17
"Suspender Love" on the remaster and "I've Got To Be Free" (on the original) has one of the all-time coolest lines "I'm not your Bugs Bunny, and you're not my wife." The (remastered) disc is worth it just for those 2 songs, but the rest of it is really good. Perhaps one of my favorite non-Michael Schenker Scorps releases (Animal Mag. too)

From: MIKE S Date: May 11, 2004 at 11:40
The Sails Of Charon is one MONSTER of a song! While the Mercury releases are where the band gained the majority of thier American fan base, I still prefer the older RCA releases from the Scorps. Much rawer sound on those, and Uli Roths lead work is fantastic. Taken By Force, Virgin Killer, In Trance, & Fly To The Rainbow are all classics and were WAY ahead of their time. Not many bands in the 70s were releasing tunes this heavy!

From: Hard Rocker Date: June 29, 2004 at 23:08
This the best album of Scorpions!!! "Sails Of Charon" is also the best songs that they have ever recorded!! No fillers here... just pure hard rock music... Wish that Roth has never left!!!! An absolute classic hard rock album!!!!!

From: German Kaiser Date: September 5, 2004 at 11:24
Uli Jon Roth is amazing, this album rocks!!! sails of charon is a classic song, i wish the song was longer. if you love the axe, go out and get this one.

From: Joan Date: September 10, 2004 at 15:43
El último disco de Scorpions con Uli Roth. Buenísimo, como In Trance y Virgin Killer, pero nada en comparación con lo que vendrá después...os suena LOVEDRIVE? Mis favoritas: Steamrock Fever, Born to touch your feelings y We'll burn the sky (q por cierto han rescatado en la gira 2004)

From: Propane Date: December 1, 2004 at 15:54
Much better coming out of the gate. Good musical direction happening.

From: kai-2 Date: September 14, 2008 at 12:56
In my opinion, here´s where the real Scorpions begins to show. A change in musical direction leading to a more hard rocking oriented album plenty of riffs. Great tracks like "Steamrock Fever", "I´ve Got To Be Free", "He´s A Woman She´s A Man" and "The Riot Of Your Time". A good advance of better things to come.

Good album,in fact we´ll burn the sky has a great solo from Ulrich Roth(one of the best),tracks here have nice melodies, listen the ballad Born to touch your feelings(what a feeling!),guitars and the mighty voice from Klaus Meine blow you away,8/10.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: August 4, 2012 at 20:09
Classic album by The Scorps!!!...the reissue brings a couple of B/T named "Suspender Love" and "Polar Nights"(live) which are ok...about the ones from the album itself i'd go for these ones "Steamrock Fever","We'll Burn The Sky","The Sails Of Sharon"(cool) & "He's A Woman-She's A Man"(a band's all time classic)...86/100

From: Lights Out Date: January 8, 2013 at 17:23
Not quite as impressive throughout as the previous three Scorpions albums, Taken By Force still is a quality release even though the negative tension between individualist Roth and the more commercial-oriented direction of the remaining members of the band was becoming more severe, particularly with drummer Herman Rarebell coming aboard, who wanted to push towards a more mainstream melodic rock direction. Opener "Steamrock Fever" was an example of this, a track that while catchy is also a bit dumbed-down by comparison to previous works. Remnants of the past are also still here with "We'll Burn the Sky" and "Sails of Charon", a pioneering neo-classical metal piece. "Your Light" is also a nice, passive mid-tempo ballad with some nice finishing work from Roth. An edition that included a studio version of Suspender Love is recommended as this is a strong track. "I've got to be Free" and "He's A Woman, She's a Man" are decent rockers at best, or good filler. 78/100

pretty good release by SCORPIONS back in 77 and the last with Roth in guitars!there is a certain 70 s vibe of course and the musicianship is really excellent ,though i d like the songs to be not so complicated and more catchy!all the songs have some moments and especially "the sails of charon","i ve got to be free" and "born to touch your feelings"!good stuff
