Good album at first listen, the ballad 'The Best Is Yet To Come' is excellent to end this album, 'The Good Die Young' is one of the best tracks here imo, 'Lorelei' is a good quiet song. 8.5/10

This is what the Scorpions are all about! Great Rock! What a delight to listen to this CD. Could be album of the year 10/10

Scoprions have made their best effort in the last 20 years and one of the best in their entire career. They have managed to create a bunch of really catchy, infectious melodies with the character we remember from their classic albums. 'Turn You On', 'Spirit Of Rock' and 'The best...' should be HUGE hits. As yet, this release smashes all other CDs in 2010.

Not a band that i really followed, i liked them to a certain degree. Now they've decided to quite i don't think i will miss them much.I respect them for the fact they kept going on for all those years in a constant changing musical climate. Couple of good tracks here and the rest is more or less filler material.

From: True Believer Date: March 23, 2010 at 14:05
I could not find any song on this CD which corresponded to the definition of 'filler'. Some of them are a little bit weaker (but far to be really weak), the rest are instant hard rock classics in a good style reminescent of that on their older releases, from 'Lovedrive' through 'Love at first string', to 'Crazy World'... Examples? 'Raised On Rock', 'TurnYou On', 'Spirit Of Rock', beautiful ballads, like 'Lorelei', 'The Best...' Buy or die!

From: metalmaniac777 Date: March 24, 2010 at 10:15
The band claims this is their farewell album and if so, they made a full-fledged return to their 80s roots to say goodbye. This CD would nestle nicely right between "Crazy World" and "Face the Heat"; there's nothing modern about it, just pure oldschool hard rock with loud guitars, loud choruses, loud vocals, etc. "The Good Die Young" is probably the standout track here, but nothing on this CD can legitimately be labeled as filler, though obviously some tracks are better than others. They may be riding off into the heavy metal sunset, but the Scorpions definitely still have some sting in them, and any 80s hard rock fan will have their tail kicked (in a good way) by this release.

Raised on Rock is my favorite...Rock You Like a Hurricane riffs all over this tune. Having been a Scorps fan since Virgin Killer days, this album is a good one, not great but worth the buy. Since Winds of Change came out they seem to always want to insert a few ballads that just don't seem to do anything for me. Like all of us these guys are getting older and while not a memorable album it has a nice retrospective feel to it. Scorpions are a great band and deserve all the success given to them.

I liked 'Humanity Hour 1' a whole lot when it was released back in 2007 & I thought that it put the Scorps firmly back on the map, after the slightly patchy 'Unbreakable' & the downright awful Eye II Eye'. I'm pleased to report back that 'Sting In The Tail' is an absolute blinder of a disc & out does 'Humanity..' in virtually all departments. Infact, this could go on record as being the best Scorpions disc since the mega 'Love At First Sting' it is that good & I do not exagerate when I say that. This is absolutely spot on, with the band firing out one monster riff after another, on a really fine set of songs. 'Raised On Rock' is a great rocking opener with a razor sharp riff, The mid tempo 'The Good Die Young' featuring the lovely Tarja, is another highlight & 'SLY', 'The Best Is Yet To Come' & 'Lorelei' are 3 top quality Scorpions ballads. If this is to be their last album, then they have bowed out with an absolute gem of a disc and one that I can't recommend highly enough.

this is the best scorpions album for years, going back to there old school rock ballards and rythems from the 80,s 90,s and yes im an old scorpions fan.

From: Geoff Date: April 12, 2010 at 23:46
I think this is a pretty good album, and like Mark said it sounds like it was recorded between 'Crazy World' and 'Face The Heat'. But it isn't as good as 'Face The Heat' and I certainly don't think it's anywhere as good as the great 'Humanity Hour 1' album. This is good solid, no frills rock n' roll and for what it is it's good enough. For me, 'No limit' and 'Turn you on' are the best songs - 2 good hard rockers. Contrary to a lot of other comments, I actually find the ballads to be quite bland and boring. Overall it's a decent CD by Scorpions standards, but I have to admit I only ever really saw them as a middle-range band at best. Still, this is a good solid way to go out if it is their last CD.

This new cd sounds somewhat familiar to the past.Nothing really stands out. A lot of the same guitars and vocals. Their past is so full of great songs it must be hard to not repeat yourself.

From: z4roxx Date: May 5, 2010 at 12:31
One of their best????Scorpions sound pretty obscure to me because I don't have many cds' by them.I did always find in each albums 2 or 3 mega-hits and the rest were fillers or average stuff...but this one sounds great to me.Every ballad is killer, also some up-tempo and mid-tempo sound awesome....Highly recommended.

From: Axe Slinger Date: May 5, 2010 at 14:19
I truly hope this isn't the last disc from the Scorps. I think Klaus is one of the best singers in this genre and he is fantastic here as well. The problem is in the contrived songs. They aren't bad but I think that Rudolph and Matthias have some killer tunes left in their tank. Those songs aren't on Sting In The Tail. I, too, really liked Humanity and was hopeful that this had some killers. Actually, the best song Klaus has been on in the last year or so is "Dying For An Angel" on the latest Avantasia disc. One more Scorps, and kick our asses with it! 85 /100

Announced as their final studio album, Sting in the Tail is a bit of a overview of Scorpions' songwriting during the eighties and early-nineties. I guess that is appropriate as this is the era that the majority of listeners will forever associate with their contribution to music. Overall a solid attempt to revisit the sound of the past; most tracks are in line with the commercial melodic rock heyday of the early-mid eighties, while one track ("Sting in the Tail") has some mild resemblance to the exuberance of the seventies. One filler track here is "Rock Zone" which is as generic as the song title would indicate. "No Limit" has a sharp melody but is otherwise nothing special. Favorites are "Raised on Rock", the title track, "SLY", (Excellent power-ballad) and closer "The Best is Yet to Come. Matthias is competent on lead guitar as usual however he fails to provide any wow factor and seems too complacent. As recordings go this is a good sendoff but far from their best release. 76/100

very good release by SCORPIONS with great rockers like "let s rock","slave me" and ballads like "sly"!the band seems in good condition and the only thing i dont quite like is the production which i d like to be more old schooland i cant find any big hit!overall Sting In The Tail is powerful and hard rockin and wont disappoint you!
