A companion piece to such great melodic releases as Hybrid Ice ('No Rules') or the Canadian band BLVD's catalog. Lots of keyboards, smooth vocals, clean production... textbook 80's AOR.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: February 16, 2003 at 12:08
i totally agree with koogles on this one this is a smooth aor album with plenty of guitar injections so dont go thinking that this is a softy.what we have in here is a ten top class compositions and a production to match!.to those who went bezerk with the blvd albums take a look at this one!.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: February 16, 2003 at 13:03

From: freddy de keyze Date: February 17, 2003 at 9:34

The Boulevard comparison is good, although this isn't as strong as there two releases. This is great though, typical 80's Canadian AOR. I also have the debut cd which is good (although sung in French) After this came 'The Bryan Hughes Group' who released the excellent ' Break The Rules' cd, which is also worth hunting down.

This is a brilliant AOR album, great keys and big guitars. The best songs are in my opinion ''Running from your heart' and 'No more heroes' fantastic AOR all the way!Stylewise they reminds of 'Stan Meissner' and 'Worrall'.

From: AOR freaky Date: January 22, 2004 at 6:43
Right you are, aorjocke ! I think we have the same taste, if I read your comments ! Nice !

From: Rycheage Date: February 3, 2004 at 1:03
Killer stuff. If you like that pompy keyboard sound a la Thrills, or a bit of melodic rock aggression not heard since Icon's 'Night Of The Crime', then Beau Geste just may do it for you. Bryan's vocals lie somewhere between Carl Dixon and Jeff Cannata, so you know it's gonna be melodic.

From: nanteau Date: February 21, 2004 at 19:34
Quite boring for me - quite interesting for AOR completists. I like the most the last one; could have been huge if there were some changes in the structure of the song

From: bernardito Date: May 19, 2004 at 23:57
nanteau: maybe you have reason about boring but if yoy listen twice you can find more interesting elements, anyway this is a competent group 80/100 cheers from mexico!!!

Running from Your Heart, Catch the Fire, Don't Go, No More Heroes, Shadows on the Moon los 5 cortes DEMOLEDORES para mi. Take These Chains y Heartbreak City 2 cortes que estan muy cerca tambien.

From: Kim HP Date: September 27, 2005 at 15:09
This is killer 80's AOR, the way it should be done. AOR doesn't really get much catchier than "Don't Go" or "Running From Your Heart". Other stellar moments include "No More Heroes", "Catch The Fire" and the haunting title track masterpiece "Another Night In The City". BUY!

From: Geoff Date: January 22, 2006 at 21:36
As noted elsewhere, this isn't really my style and this album does nothing for me, but also there is nothing too creepy here. If you like decent AOR this might be a good choice, but no tracks at all stood out for me, so I doubt if it'll see my stereo again. For AOR fans.

From: juan carlos Date: June 2, 2006 at 15:07

From: juan carlos Date: June 2, 2006 at 15:12
Saludos.

From: lalorock Date: June 22, 2006 at 17:11
muy buen album de estos canadienses, canciones con un sonido full teclados y unas guitarras demoledoras sobre todo en los temas running from your heart y shadows of the moon, la primera take this chains, don´t go exelentes conese sonido 80´s , album dificil de conseguir y como dije muy bueno.saludos desde trujillo Perú.

This album is a KILLER!!! AOR at its very very best...and you can take EVERY song to your alltime-favelist!!! "No more Heroes" is only an example for playing PERFECT AOR!! Bryan Hughes is a soundalike between Bob Catley (Magnum) and Brian Connolly (Sweet)!!!

From: sanxdowntherainbow Date: January 24, 2007 at 17:49
AWESOME! One of the best cd's I have! Very similar to PREVIEW (I think PREVIEW is a lot better), but this one kick ass!! 10/10 A must have!

From: Carlos A. Date: January 25, 2007 at 12:31
Buen disco AOR comercial, ultramelodico aunque por momentos algo gelido y por momentos previsible, de todos modos hay buenos temas casi todos con evidente protagonismo compartido de guitarras y teclados( aunque algo delicados), mencion aparte la voz de Bryan Hughes infalible en temas como "Take These Chains", "Running from Your Heart" o "Another Night in the City".. un buen disco totalmente 80s pero tampoco es para tanto 8.9/10

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: January 25, 2007 at 15:37
Totally agree with Clayton77 and sanxdowntherainbow, ellos si saben de lo bueno, muchos por aca recien conocen este album como muchos otros albums tambien y eso gracias a gente experta que comenta hace varios años por aca y se guian de sus sabios gustos y palabras asi que deberian darles al menos las gracias por eso pero que bah no lo haran por su ignorancia y estupido orgullo, al primero que me refute de mala manera me va a conocer.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: January 25, 2007 at 16:20

From: Carlos A. Date: January 31, 2007 at 19:25

Hey Rafo, how many comments did you put here in past?Wow mate ahahah! Is this so immense as you wrote here?I am listening to again now, indeed this is 1000 times better than the debut(debut is horrible)but I think in aor there is better than this.BTW I'll hold this one,in effect it's a good one...

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: October 7, 2007 at 13:51

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: October 7, 2007 at 13:54
onda Bob Catley y por momentos me suena a Dee Snider, pero logra interpretaciones muy efectivas en temas como "Catch The Fire", la inicial "Take These Chains", "Running From The Heart" y la vibrante y emotiva "Another Night In The City"... las composiciones fluyen alegremente en este mega discazo de AOR

From: Aor/HardRock Date: October 18, 2007 at 17:33

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: November 13, 2007 at 14:00

From: johnk5150 Date: May 22, 2008 at 11:12
The singer sounds like an AOR version of Dee Snider. In a wonderful way. These are ten great songs.

From: shoemaker Date: September 27, 2008 at 6:31
This is an fine AOR album. Yes, johnk hit the nail. "Heartbreak City" sounds like TWISTED SISTER goes AOR.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 3, 2010 at 15:30
Very nice and pleasent album to listen to,a bit poppy at times but maybe the band probably fits more into the category of AOR Pop rather than pure AOR but of course for us AOR lovers we could accept any kind of soft sounds or electronic sounds!..hahaha!..anyway to the point,"Take These Chains" is pure smoothness,"Catch The Fire" is excellent,"Don't Go" ok this one has an especial mention basically because it has great keyboards secuences and is purely POP influenced, loved it!,"Running From Your Heart" is also excellent..now the 3 tracks i liked the most were "Another Night In The City","No More Heroes"(for me the best song of the album) and "Shadows On The Moon"...a very enjoyable album if u like AOR with pop touches.87/100

From: yamaha94 Date: October 26, 2012 at 21:39
Excellent album. All tracks supurb. I love the track "heartbreak city" excellent beat. "Shadows on the moon" is memorable. Bryan Hughes solo afterward is decent as well. 95/100

From: TheMetalChurch Date: September 5, 2021 at 5:31
Guitar tone, guitar tone, guitar tone...makes a big difference, something Vandenburg could have learned in the early 80's. Just listen to "Shadows on The Moon"... excellent tone and execution. A true hidden gem from 1986!

From: 123charpenay Date: October 6, 2021 at 17:49
the production of this record is absoluty perfect.what sound!!!!!!!!!!!even if tracks1.5.8 and 10 are some killer songs ,this album is only decent.because on the other songs we have some pop music touches very very simple.i can add that the voice of the singer is not always adapted to this kind of music.this cd is in the vein of i ten, aldo nova or metropolis but not at the same level.
