Hail to the guy or girl who has put this on the new CD's !This is fantastic, super AOR !Only the production is a bit flat, but the songs are superb ! You won't find better songs than 'Above and beyond the call of love' ! PHENOMENAL ! But, I know, most people will hate it (even if they don't know this), because I like it ! But that's life, I guess !

This is about as pure an AOR release as you are going to get. You don't get much smoother than the first two tracks on this record. Two tracks, 'Above And Beyond The Call Of Love' and 'Heartbreak Moon' that almost together could sum up AOR.

From: Selfish@tlen.pl Date: April 27, 2003 at 9:40
Man, in my opinion that's the definition of WEST-COAST AOR. Lite, smooth, and the work they did on keyboards is awsome. Can't believe how those keyboard tunes goes on first three tracks. Must have for any fan of that kind of AOR. Great, awsome, grab yourself a copy!

Fantastic AOR ! Fantastic songs , fantastic singing. Only the production lacks a bit power, but this is a GEM !

From: Chris Date: December 1, 2003 at 18:37
Indeed a fine release. The production is indeed a tad flat, probably because every song on here is basically a demo. The majority of the songs here are written by Barlow/Minto who people may recall wrote the bulk of the debut album by Swedish AORsters Alien. The first recordings of the bulk of the songs on here actually featured the wonderful vocal work of a certain Mark Free and they really smoke.

Use this CD in place of Ambien for a sleep-aid... But be sure you don't have a cigarette in your hand once you get past the second track.

Hearts Break Like Promises, Nothing Next to You, I'm a Fighter, Half a Heart, Tied to the Mast, Even the Strong, Above and Beyond...y por supuesto Tears Don't Put Out the Fire (de los LEGENDARIOS ALIEN, una gran version, eso si Go Easy no da la talla con la original) un gran album que no debe faltar en tu coleccion, saludos desde Santiago-Ica-Peru.

I can say only good things about this album - Great songwriting, beautiful lyrics(Pam Barlow and Janet Minto), sweet melodies, great vocals by Gene Miller. NO FILLER HERE ! Touchy ballads, and perfectly sang and written mid/uptempo tracks. The only thing I can complain about is a weak production(lacks the power), which cannot change the fact it's one of my top 10 favorites from the 90s.

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: April 28, 2008 at 13:13
Great release, since the first song to the end, catchy with beautiful melodies, listen the guitar in the begining of the second one, it makes me crazy,AOR at it finest,Nothing next to you, Tied to the mast, almost hard rock,no fillers,Half a heart, fantastic melodies,Even the strong remember me You´re gonna miss me from THE STORM´s first album, the ALIEN´s songs are good but i prefer the originals, a wet dream for AOR lovers,9/10.

From: Leykis101 Date: June 19, 2008 at 10:05
Heartbreak Moon is one of the most beautiful songs ever written!!!

From: Kralli Date: December 16, 2010 at 8:41
I guess you all have understood that theese are the people that actually wrote the songs för the Alien debut. So in a way, yes they are covers, but still theese are the actual owners of the music.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 2, 2011 at 20:29
Kralli's comment says something really important...these guys were the composers of the Alien debut album that up to date is considered one of the best AOR albums (if not) of all times(IMHO yes!)...talking about this release it has plenty of good songs including the ones Alien took as their most demanded songs of their career "Tears Don't Put Out The Fire" & "Go Easy" both nowadays classic of the genre, apart from that another great tracks in here are "Above & Beyond The Call Of Love","Heartbreak Moon","Half A Heart"(catchy & nice),"Even The Strong" perhaps the best track of the album along with "I'm A Fighter" that ends the album being a pretty nice mid tempo song...Gene Miller vocals are awesome, very good for this type of songs...get this and enjoy the good music!!!.94/100

poor production but very rare and great aor cd.2 fillers tracks 5 "half a heart and 10 "i m a fighter".2 very average and soft aor songs witch have no interest.the others 8 others songs are excellent.if you love venus and mars of mark free this record is for you.this album follow exactly the same way and sound excatly than the 2 artits above.

From: 123charpenay Date: November 28, 2021 at 20:34
unfortunately track 10 " i m a fighter" is not a cover of the extraordinary vant zant s song covered by ray roper.it s only a poor filler...........
