Holy Soldier is back with a competent follow up to their debut disc. Again they stick to the original formula which is solid operatic and shredding guitars. If you enjoy Stryper then get this disc. It absolutely smokes.

From: James Date: May 18, 2001 at 17:02
This is a very good album but is more related to Cinderella than Stryper. Blues based christian rock

From: Eric Date: December 31, 2001 at 22:46
EXCELLENT album!! Great for music lovers from christian to atheist (like me) GREAT SOUND!!!

From: Kreyson Date: July 30, 2002 at 7:56
Steven Patrick is one of the best singers that I've heard, a great unique voice. Pretty much, this entire cd kicks ass. A definate MUST HAVE.

From: Rycheage Date: January 4, 2003 at 19:10
Excellent hard rock with a bluesy edge. "Virtue & Vice" smokes. "Hallows Eve" and "Last Train" also are awesome songs. Steven Patrick is one of the best voices out there. Anybody know what he is doing now?

From: M. Allen Date: January 4, 2003 at 20:23
Following this sophomore HOLY SOLDIER CD, Steven Patrick released an independent solo album called "Red Reign." He also participated in the HOLY SOLDIER live album ("Encore," I think it was called). Other than that, he's pretty much been absent from the scene. Too bad, because he has a killer voice.

Great follow up. Much more than i ever thought of. Do your self a favor, just go to the second side(if tape like me) and play it over and over......"crazy"

From: Jeremy Date: June 12, 2003 at 8:16
Very Polished Album. Much preferred the First myself but thats personal taste. A Mellow Album very commercial. Songs were boring for me( 40 secs in and Id forward to next). That doesnt cut it in my books. Put this Album beside another Arena Rock Album like Guardians "Fire and Love" and youll see what I mean. Thats a good Album where you can listen it through. Holy Soldier needed more creativity in their Soloing Department( too much of the same "A Dorian Scales). But Production was excellent!

From: Cephas Date: November 28, 2003 at 18:17
Perhaps, "Last Train" was not the best title for HS's SECOND album. Also, putting the title song at the very END probably sounded like a good idea ... but, really wasn't. Unfortunately, their cover of the Stones' "Love Is on the Way" (wrong above) showed that they weren't on the same level as the Great Ones: You can just tell HS didn't write that. Steven's voice sounds the same throughout most songs. Not an awful disk; but, tired-sounding Hard Rock.

From: James Date: November 28, 2003 at 18:44
the only cover on the album is Gimme Shelter as shown in the track listing above is a Stones cover. Love Is On The Way is a Holy Soldier song. got out my cover and read the liner notes and all songs are written by J. Cramer, S. Patrick, A. Robbins, T. Russell S. Soderstrom and D. Zaffiro except Gimme Shelter written by M. Jagger and K. Richards (1970)

From: Arthur Date: January 14, 2004 at 1:41
One of my favorite discs, and just as good as the first one! Much more mature and Steven Patrick's voice really came together on this one. It should have never been their last one... Or at least the last one with Steven and their original sound. Oh well.

From: Donny Date: February 7, 2004 at 1:38
I'm with you Arthur. What a shame. HS is so easy to listen to. Steven ranks with the best of them. Ziggy did a great job with production as well. Very solid.

From: Mike L Date: August 15, 2004 at 21:13
I just picked up this CD and was a little disappointed. Last Train is excellent. Crazy and thre remake of Gimme Shelter are good but the rest of the album is nothing special.

From: Geoff Date: August 15, 2004 at 22:08
I actually probably prefer this to the debut. Both killer CDs, but with 'Crazy' and 'Last train', 'Virtue and vice' and 'Dead end drive' I must say I love this album. Great, very atmospheric sound. A cool band with another great CD. 8/10

From: Sergio Date: October 9, 2004 at 18:38

HUGE CD 90/100 HUGE CHRISTIAN MELODIC METAL a true masterpiece and a must have ! buy it or burn in hell /° god bless

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 3, 2009 at 11:32
This is not Melodic Metal, this is more Hard Rock with some sparks of AOR here and there. "Virtue And Vice","Crazy"(excellent song),"Love Is On The Way"(love this song!)and "Dead End Drive are good ones...maybe this was not the best sound option for a second album after their blasting debut but remenber that this album was released in 1992 (the beggining of the Grunge thing...)and somehow affected the band.Anyway if you buy it you won't be dissapointed at all coz is not a bad album...80/100

From: 123charpenay Date: September 26, 2014 at 16:34
decent christian rock not more.the singer have a voice a little special but the main problem is the sound of the drums.not the same along the songs and sometimes (track 1 for example horrible a nightmare).musically that s great but....there is better in christian rock (bloodgood or petra among others).no bonus track on the very very rare japan edition.( a real raritie).

From: hair metal again Date: March 25, 2016 at 15:03
sensational release by HOLY SOLDIER with kinda unique style of delivering mostly because of Steven s vocals !what a performance in high and lows!wow!the songs are excellent pieces of commercial hard rock and the solos outstanding!"love is on the way" and "crazy " are absolute killers and Last Train an essential one
