If you enjoy hard edged Christian metal in the vein of Stryper then rush out right now and get this disc. Solid operatic vocals and shredding guitars highlight this disc. DO NOT HESITATE as this disc is rare.

From: Jon Date: June 13, 2001 at 22:21
Rock! I would put this christian band against any rock album from the late 80's. Pound for pound this album is awsome. Buy it, its not a joke it will rock the Hell out of you.

From: nate Date: August 11, 2001 at 18:07
Fair, but not exceptional. This first album was definitely a rocker, and metal driven.

From: Rycheage Date: September 16, 2001 at 11:26
This album absolutely rocks!! It has everything you want in a metal disc: Excellent hard guitars, power ballads and soaring vocals. This rocks!!

From: Cephas Date: March 4, 2002 at 2:49
I kept hearing good buzz about HS; so, I got their CD. Ah-ight. Not a classic. "The Pain Inside of Me" is one of the best power ballads ever by a Christian band. "Stranger" is good, but WAY too short: It starts strong & dies out. HS tries to be clever with riffs & whatnot, the result usually not working. "We Are Young, We Are Strong" is laughable. Okay, but disappointing. I ended up selling the CD on eBay.

From: tman Date: June 19, 2002 at 16:26
Fantastic cd. A classic christian metal album to have. Not your typical feel good cd. Some of the songs are very dark, which is good. I have their demo that was out a couple of years before this cd came out. Great production on this album

From: Gerson Date: August 5, 2002 at 22:16
One of the best from 90's, lyrics and music are great!

From: Der Pink Panzer Date: August 19, 2002 at 17:12
This is a Christian Metal classic. Great melodic metal in the Stryper mold, but with better production and riffs. This album has two of the best power ballads in Christian Metal. The only drawback is that the vocalist seems to be at the limit of his vocal range on "Tear Down the Walls" & "Stranger", but he's still good on everything else, especially on "When the Reign Comes Down" and the aforementioned ballads.

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: December 21, 2002 at 20:03
Needless to say, most bands that have tried to combine religion with music--be it christian or satanic--never seem to make it to more than cult status. BUT, Holy Soldier is, plainly and simply, A DAMN GOOD BAND!!! "See No Evil" and "When The Reign Comes Down" tear at you with an impressive double-guitar attack to your sences!!!

From: gonzalo Date: February 5, 2003 at 0:16
es alucinante junto astryper las mejores bandas de metal cristiano de los usa

From: James Date: February 5, 2003 at 1:54
I like this album but I like their album Last Train better. This is more straight metal, Last Train is more blues rock based like Cinderella. This by all means is no slouch of an album but they got better on the second time around.

From: Ty Date: March 25, 2003 at 15:01
There should be a CD page for Siloam: "Sweet Destiny." Excellent, melodic hard rock all the way!! Yes, it's a Christian album, but you're crazy if you let that stop you. If you've made room in your collection for the likes of Angelica and Holy Soldier, then Siloam's "Sweet Destiny" should be in there as well. If you find this available somewhere, get it. Don't think it over; just get it. I believe you'll be glad you did.

From: TIM Date: March 25, 2003 at 17:08
With all due respect Ty, if you want to see it here- submit it. I almost bought this recently otherwise I would have. I'd already stretched the budget a bit.

From: Zenari Date: May 25, 2003 at 19:10
Good album. "Stranger", "See no Evil" and "Cry out for love" are my favs.

From: Jeremy Date: June 12, 2003 at 7:48
A big reason for the excellent production was David Zaffiros( Guitarist formaly of Bloodgood) hand in the Project. A good example of Professionalism through Engineering and Production is the song " The Pain Inside of Me." Other Good tracks are Tear Down The Walls, Lies( which has a cool intro into the solo), When the Reign Comes Down, Stranger, and Love Me. Another good album people dont know about is Steven Patricks- Solo Dubut " Red Reign." Very Rare Album. Very good if you like this album.

From: Burnsy Date: August 9, 2003 at 19:09
Back in 1990, I sampled "Stranger" at my local Christian music store and I bought the disc 3:25 later. This disc is a Christian Metal Classic. "Love Me" is also a great tune.

From: pablo Date: September 6, 2003 at 9:53
Muy buen heavy melódico influido por Stryper 8,5/10 ,merece la pena

From: Cephas Date: November 28, 2003 at 18:08
O.K., I gave this another try: Is it a classic? No--because the band never went anywhere. "Stranger" is still too short; "Pain, etc." is still great. "We Are Young, etc." ain't too bad after all. It is an excellent Hair Metal platter. Steven Patrick's singing sounds way too plaintive by the end. (I don't know why.) The songwriting is quite mature. I mean, was Stryper writing anti-abortion songs? Yes, I was wrong and will have to get it again.

From: infinity Date: December 22, 2003 at 8:19
absolutely fantastic album!!! it sounds like the best moments of stryper, keel and dokken.

From: Dan Turner Date: January 7, 2004 at 17:13
Rock the hell out of you is an understatement! This album is my commumion. The blindingly fast guitar riffs are remenescent of the angels battling for the triumph of truth. Definitely get this album and drive the demons from your soul. That Cramer Guitar God Rocks! If only he could drive his jeep with such fervor!

From: Bruce Date: January 15, 2004 at 1:32
Ty, interested in where's "Siloam" been hiding? I tried to find them on the net. Their band sites been taken down, but.... And ya, somebody should submit them as an artist... cheers!

From: Arthur Date: January 15, 2004 at 20:26
One of my favorite cd's! And Steven Patrick was the best! Come back to us Steven.

From: wingsofthedove Date: January 24, 2004 at 19:47
hey bruce... i've heard rumours that they're gonna put some concert footage up on the new siloam site (i'm a BIG siloam fan), which will be worth checking out! cool to have found another fellow siloam fan. bye!

From: Donny Date: February 7, 2004 at 1:31

From: Geoff Date: August 25, 2004 at 1:09
Killer debut from pretty much the only christian band I ever really liked. They knew how to be discreet about getting thier message across and did not ruin thier album with countless references to the lord and savious jesus christ. I am not critisizing anyone's beliefs, just hate having it pushed across in an otherwise decent hard rock song. But Holy Soldier never did that, and this is atmospheric, well played and excecuted melodic hard rock - excellent CD!

From: Date: August 25, 2004 at 12:45
I think that what Geoff says is why Holy Soldier liked a lot of people that were'nt christian. Far away from Stryper, Whitecross...etc, they were a band that touched real things, like "See No Evil", "Eyes Of Innocence".....that created a conscient thought, other band that went like Holy was One Bad Pig (Punk), and it's pretty hard to get.... can anybody help me to get music from them??? 'cause there's no delivery to my country......

From: walter Date: August 25, 2004 at 12:52
Can anybody help me to get Holy Soldier Music???? we can trade, exchange....whatever

From: MAURICIO Date: December 26, 2004 at 14:33

From: MAURICIO Date: December 26, 2004 at 14:34

From: Stu Date: March 10, 2005 at 14:25
A Christian Metal Classic!! This cd will stay in your cd player for a long time. Musically they ranked up there with the best secular bands. Also, their video was played on MTV but the record company did not push them as they should have been. Holy Soldier's (original members)are getting back together check out: www.holysoldierfan.com for more info.

From: z4roxx Date: October 4, 2005 at 15:36
that's ioncredible that in the site there aren't bands like Soldier or Regime, and Battalion??One of the finest class metal bands in christian panorama...and If you like this kind of music(in the vein also of Fifth Angel ect..)I can recommend to all religious guys a band called Lord Grey, great indie of 2002....

From: KickYourFace Date: June 15, 2006 at 23:19
All I can say is WOW! This guy can sing. An unbelievable CD, it's hard to explain how good this guy can sing. I'm not talking about vocal acrobatics, I'm talking about having "The Gift" of a great singer, putting words to music. 10 out of 10 IMO.

From: Nix Date: March 5, 2007 at 8:44
A great album by a great band. It's one of the most melodic albums I've ever heard, if not the most melodic. I'm not much a fan of the song 'Eyes Of Innocence', but the rest was top stuff. 'We Are Young, We Are Strong' is not only my favorite Holy Soldier song, but one of my all time favorite songs. It's very emotional and rocks the hell out of me! Strong melodies, killer vocals and excellent song writing makes this album a winner. One of my favorite albums. I highly recommend it!

From: shoemaker Date: February 17, 2008 at 15:19
I see some average Bands here in the top 100 and quality stuff like this has only three votes. Sorry, but this shows the incompetence of some people here. This is first class hardrock, melodic metal with balls, and a special sharp voice of Steven Patrick. With the help of DAVID ZAFFIRO they made one of the best albums in the white metal genre.

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: February 18, 2008 at 5:19
huge CD 90/100 CHRISTIAN HAIR METAL at his best !!! HUGE singer & good guitar players A must have ! a true classic as "soldier under command"&"to hell with the devil" by STRYPER or "fire and love" by GUARDIAN or RED SEA's "blood" or RAGE OF ANGELS "s/t"or RECON's "behind enemy lines" CRYSTAVOX "II"or the highly underarted BROKEN SILENCE "discerning the times" or GEMINI "out for blood" or SACRED WARRIOR "wicked generation"or idle cure's "2nd avenue" or BLOODGOOD "out of the darkness"etc

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 25, 2008 at 22:21
They have the look, they have the talent, they have the songs!!!...this is a great album with solid songs ("See No Evil"&"Tear Down The Walls","When The Rain Comes Down" among others...)but probably the lack of promotion affected their musical status (Stryper-the closest comparison to Holy's-won the credits and with the right credits,be aware of this).Anyway, a band that still persists with some concerts here & there but still is completely underrated,shamely...80/100

From: metalmaniac777 Date: March 20, 2010 at 14:48
Awesome enough to make a Baptist minister exclaim, "Holy shit, this is f*cking good!" Not just a great Christian melodic metal album, but a great melodic metal album, period. The hooks on here are smoking hot, the guitars sizzle like a Hell-roasted heretic, the choruses are loaded with layers of backing vocals, Steven Patrick's singing is powerfully unique, and the production sounds like the entire budget of the Vatican was poured into it. If the white-metal movement was an army, these guys deserved to be leading the charge, as it simply doesn't get much better than this.

From: kamd Date: July 12, 2011 at 9:05

a rare christian rock realise.but it s only a decent hard rock record who don t catch me even if this cd is not bad.far far away from bloodgood.

From: hair metal again Date: December 20, 2017 at 9:09
excellent debut indeed for HOLY SOLDIER in the early 90 s with great guitars and sensational vocals!there are moments that these guys are very classy ,but unfortunately i can t find any big songs that could push things further for em!the whole is solid ,but not any hits!"see no evil","the pain inside of me","tear down the walls" are the highlights for this great band!

From: Auslander Date: February 21, 2021 at 0:07
Few albums are really "perfect". But, I honestly can't think of a way this album could be improved. Even the production is great, and that is unusual for Christian releases. It is actually a pity this wasn't released sufficiently to the general market as it may have made a dent. Stranger is a killer opening track that highlights the incredible vocal range of Steven Patrick. The band had a competent rhythm section that kept the songs chugging away at a quick pace. There is a lot of variety between tracks on the pace and the hooks (always there). When the Reign Comes Down has a really different sound which keeps it very interesting even after repeated listens. The album ends with actually the best song We are Young We are Strong. Great chorus, excellent guitar pyrotechnics. A perfect release. Essential even if you don't like Christian bands.
