I think "Surfing With The Alien" is still my favorite song by Joe. "Satch Boogie" is also pretty cool.

I'm not much for instrumental music, but "Alwayus With Me, Always With You," has got to be one of the best chickie-charmin' songs out there, and all the better as it has no words to complicate matters.

Until Satch, instrumentals on hard rock radio were unheard of in the '80s! Joe blew into town with a fistful of melodies so good, they didn't need a singer. A landmark release and a great driving CD!

Anybody that can play the guitar so well that I believe I hear vocals can flat out play.Taught him everything he knows.

I only have good things to say about this one. "Lords of Karma" should be used in a Japanese anime; it has the sound. I learned a number of these songs on guitar. This CD and "Flying In A Blue Dream" was, to me, great summer music.

Not a big fan of "guitar wankin" albums, but Satriani can construct a song better than most of the other metal instrumentalists. While tunes like "Satch Boogie" and "Always With Me, Always With You" are great listens, the album has a terrible dated feel to it because of the drum machine sound. 6/10

Surfin...crushing day...always with me..ESTILAZO

From: Metalhead Date: November 11, 2004 at 16:11
Agree with koogles, the melodies are so strong they don't need a singer. Satch I think is the only one that puts out instrumental albums that the songs are really "SING-A-BLE". Although I would still put his former student VAI ahead of him in terms of natural talent, I heard tons of techniques here that I haven't heard from VAI.
