This was the last disc with the original line-up & you can see why. This must be one of the worst efforts by a band since KISS' Music from the Elder! Yes, folks it's that bad. I think the fact that Ted Templeman wasn't 'in the building' has alot to do with it. It was discs like this that helped people go 'Grunge' in the early 90's. Kurt Cobain should have thanked the Bulletboys for releasing this 'Gem' when they did. Invest in the first two discs instead.

When Pigs fly....need to say something else?

From: Joe Date: November 2, 2001 at 9:34
Their best album. The ballads (who were missing in the first 2 albums)are superb:good feeling and profound lyrics(especially 'For the damned').The voice of Marc Torien is very bluesy, PURE Rock N' Roll!Reminds me a little of Terence Trent D'Arby, sometimes.Everybody like to talk shit about this band (and all HAIR BANDS in general)but they're REAL rock n' rollers and THEY'RE BACK!

From: WidoMakr Date: January 15, 2002 at 18:20
To all Hard rockers and Fans of the first album...STAY AWAY...what the F were they thinking with this piece of crap....another band that had to stray away from what made them good...asswipes...quote the WidoMakr...never more

From: tomcat Date: January 20, 2002 at 16:33
i kinda liked this album,i like em all except the one with 'american pie' on it... tomcat@dolfijn.Nl

This was a good CD, better than Freakshow. It is NOT a departure from their earlier sound. It is a bit less polished than the earlier ones.

Plenty of Creative gas in this tank!!!Bulletboys playing on ZA-ZA like its opening night. They climbed higher than ever befor armed with a greater sense of diversity than befor.ZA-ZA is unabashed, fist-in-the-air Rock'n'Roll. The Bulletboys aren't reinventing rock, but only doing what they do best in the days of Rock'N'Roll goes camping look. You guys need to stop listining like,'Hey this band is Bulletboys!' and more like 'Hay lets check this out!' Than realize it's Bulletboy's and then judge.:P

From: dokken6008 Date: April 8, 2002 at 13:23
Another piece of crap. I liked this one a tad bit more than 'Freakshow', but that one sucked badly as well. The Bulletboys made a few hit singles, made some money and built a reputation off of that. I don't have a lot of respect for bands like that. Very mediocre and bland. Boring shit.

From: TIM Date: June 2, 2002 at 12:12
I liked 1 or 2 songs off this one but the rest was very bad.

From: ROCKDOG Date: July 15, 2002 at 14:12
You can tell the band was trying something different. Grundge was taking over and the 'same old stuff' wouldn't cut it anymore. There are some real grat songs on this disc as well as some forgetables. The opening track 'When pigs fly' kicks serious ass. They experiment with some new styles and even throw a balad on the disc. A big departure from the first album but still a worthwhile effort. Obvoiusly the band was at a creative crossroad and was trying to change along with the times.

From: Steve T Date: September 2, 2002 at 7:49
I have always been a fringe fan of the band and I saw them in London at the Marquee. Live they were amazing but on vinyl/cd they have always been patchy. I thought that ZA-ZA was their best album but I played it again after a gap of a few years and it didn't sound too good. The only one that stands the test of time is the debut for me now and that isn't even a great album. The same as the others...2 or 3 GREAT songs and the rest is filler.....but live :- WHOAH

From: nitrodoll Date: September 2, 2002 at 11:43
1 800 goodbye kicks ass.... cool cd, a more mature bullet boys... nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

From: Gar Date: January 27, 2003 at 20:02
Actually, I liked this one better than their first 2. The Bulletboys were always a little bit more offbeat than the other 'hair bands'. They were clearly influenced by Van Halen, and it showed on thier first 2 especially. ZaZa saw them tone down the VH references and inject a little more originality making this their least boring album. 'Mine' actually seems to be inspired by Journey.

From: tomcat Date: March 10, 2004 at 17:00
this is my favorite bullet boys cd...laughing with the dead is a great song

From: wikkid 76 Date: April 20, 2004 at 16:46
I totally agree with tomcat - Laughing with the dead is one cool fucking song!!! Love this!!!

From: Big Papa K Date: June 12, 2004 at 23:40
Bulletboys go for another style change on this one, incorporating some of the alternative rock of the early 90's, such as When Pigs Fly, and end up with an album with a lot of variation. Its good to see I am not the only one that think that 'Mine' sounds like a Journey song. The major problem with the album is how short it is (I believe about 30 minutes). 8/10

From: Dave Date: June 14, 2004 at 20:46
This is without doubt one of the greatest pieces of crap you will ever hear in your life.I see it is going for about $2 on ebay and even then that is still a rip off.You could not even give this away its that bad.Best use for this is as a drink coaster or just simply bin it and learn from your mistake like i had to!

From: Metal Jay Date: July 30, 2004 at 23:41
Better than Freakshow.

From: Peopane Date: December 3, 2004 at 23:38
Seattle Shit! was all this was. Can you say - SELL OUT?

From: Geoff Date: December 4, 2004 at 23:06
They sold out on this release? WTF? I'm sorry kids, I don't hear it. Because they put a couple of ballads on their CD for once they sold out? I don't get it. '1-800 Goodbye' and 'Laughing with the dead' are two of the best songs these guys ever recorded and 'Mine' is a beautiful ballad. Yeah there's a lot of filler and it's not ther best album ever, but it kills 'Freakshow'. Some awful tracks, but mixed in with some of their best too...

From: Eugenio Chahin Date: December 16, 2004 at 15:08
Almost Horrible, but songs 7-8-9 are fair for $1

From: Dave Date: December 17, 2004 at 3:38
You would want to have the postage for overseas delivery included in the $1 otherwise you are still being ripped off !!!!!!!

From: Dean Date: December 19, 2004 at 14:19
Never a huge Bulletboys fan but i liked this one. I agree completely with Geoff's comments on this.

From: Chad Date: December 22, 2004 at 20:56
I too agree with Geoff's comments. Fess is a pretty decent tune too. Worth $3 anyday.

From: Big Mike Date: February 17, 2005 at 10:53
Most of this is just awful stuff. Track 9 is the only good one. I saw this cheap so thought I'd give it a go. Agree, $3 was a good deal for the merchant.

From: z4roxx Date: February 17, 2005 at 12:36
This band totally craps,IMO.I only like some songs of their debut,nothin'more....

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 10, 2007 at 19:53
I don't know why so much hatred towards this band. This album is not as bad as 99% of the readers said.Ok,it's a matter of personal likes and dislikes but i found "When Pigs Fly" a good starter and "Laughing With The Dead" is also a good song.About the restof the songs?,well personal opinions are the "key" of this site so and with all the respect for the readers of this page i think this album is quite good.8/10

From: rockhardrock Date: April 11, 2009 at 13:02
when i heard that one i was very disapointed. they changed a lot. the music, sound, hooks are not the same.they went to some kinda alternative rock waters, which is crap. the only song that is awsome is 1-800-Goodbye.

From: Auslander Date: August 25, 2022 at 13:21
Wow the histrionics of so-called hard rock fans about this album is just bullshit. Some people need to calm the farm and realise this album ain't bad at all. The two singles, Mine and Laughing With the Dead are fantastic tracks, and many others are decent. I actually prefer this album to Freakshow and consider it underrated. Rated C+.

From: Rob Rocker Date: August 25, 2022 at 16:08
I also don't understand the disdain for Za Za?, IMO, stylistically/musically it absolutely fits with the debut and Freakshow. And although it didn't have any "hits" (more due to when it was released than the quality of the music), I actually think it's their most consistent album. "When Pigs Fly", "Sing A Song", "Mine", "1-800 Goodbye", "Laughing With the Dead" and "Crosstop" are great, and the rest is solid. Only filler track is the semi instrumental "The Rising".

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: August 25, 2022 at 19:41
"Slow And Easy" is the one I remember hearing on the radio at the time (like maybe twice). But yeah, not a big departure from their previous material. A lot of rockers had this knee-jerk reaction to anything released after 1992 that didn't sound exactly like that band's earliest material from five-plus years earlier. Post-heyday albums by everybody from Warrant and Winger to Skid Row and Dokken were absolutely dragged by fans of those bands upon release. It took a few years before people started coming around and admitting those records had their own merits and in many cases were pretty good. But there are still those people who think if it bears a release date of '92 or later and is maybe not as happy-go-lucky as the poolside anthems of 1988, then it's "grunge crap."

From: hair metal again Date: November 17, 2022 at 9:58
sensational release for BULLETBOYS back in 93 kicking ass as usual with their electric groove and unique performance!Marq had always that star quality needed and Mick was very capable as well!the songwriting is excellent and i really dig all the songs !revisiting it brought back great memories of my youth with "mine" being my fav
