| Zakk Wylde showes off his influences on this album. It goes from Ozzy to Skynyrd and CCR to the countryfied "I Hate Your Guts". I must admit that the ballads are overall the best songs on here. You get the same chunky guitar Zakk if famous for but in a southern rock vein for most of the alubm. The opening song even featuers a banjo, much in the way Warrant used a banjo in "Uncle Tom's Cabin"

| This record is awesome. Zakk at his best, with heartfelt vocals, great riffing and some really good solos. A lot of blues and southern rock here. The ballads are outstanding, and so are the rockers. It's a very satisfying record, since it's heterogeneous but at the same time has a distinctive style and shows Zakk's unmistakeable trademark. Very very cool, reccomended!

This is a great beer drinkin' album! Zakk is one of my all time favorite guitar players. I have been fallowing his whole career, and my exited about Zakk Wylde's new Black Label Society album 'The Blessed Hellride' that is due out on April 22nd 2003. This will be Zakk's 5th B.L.S. album. Buy the new album or you're a Mother-Fucker!

| Great disc for any SDMF kicks ass as only Zakk can! Shows how versital the man is. The Blessed Hellride is sure to be slamming but Jason your a motherfucker for just making that statement. Fuck yourself before you start dissing people. Live by the Black Lable bylaws & show respect!

| One of my favorite albums of all time. A fantastic southern rock album filled with great vocals from Zakk - I wish he would go back to this style, or that of Book of Shadows. Anyhoo lots of great rockers, and even the ballads are good. But the album drags towards the end however, with Found a Friend and Fadin' Away slapped right next to each other. Coulda done without either of this and been replaced with b-side Lynyrd Skynhead/P&G songs - Farm Fiddlin, Baby Please Don't Go or Torn and Tattered.

| And the bonus cd has a version of the old Beatles track called Come Together.......this version is damn close to beeing better than the original.

| Agree that Zakk is really, really talented... How many tremendous heavy riffs do you all think he still has in store ? Hidden Nugent's son ... hopefully will come a day when they realize a cd together... thing this will really blow (sorry if my English is poor...) I really like Ozzy but I often wonder what would have become of his carrer without Zakk ?

| Just to add my opinion, whilst I won't say this is a crap CD, it is definately one for people who like the less melodic side of hard rock. To me the songs are featureless / hookless and although Zakk is a great player and there's some good riffs, I just don't dig the songs. Average hard rock IMO.

| Not bad. Zakk hasn't developed some of the annoying vocal mannerisms he'll have on the first two BLS records at this point, but he's well on his way to 'em. That's really my only gripe with this, aside from teh not-so-good production that tends to bury the drums. As previously noted, the mellower tunes are the best, where Zakk doesn't feel the need to stretch his voice and bellow so much.

| Interesting sidenote: "Found a Friend" is listed as being on the album proper here and everywhere else I've seen, but my copy has it as track #4 on the bonus disc. The Fizz Picks: "Lovin' Woman," "Harvester of Pain," "Cry Me a River," "Hate Your Guts," "Torn and Tattered," "Hammer and the Nail."

| Found a Friend was track 12 on all the old Geffen 1-disc versions of the album. When the album was reissued by Spitfire as a 2-disc set, they still listed Found a Friend as track 12, however it'd actually been accidentally deleted off the entire album. Track 12 was instead simply the outro to track 11, Toe'n The Line. When they realised this, they repressed and reprinted the set to include Found a Friend on the second disc.

Odd news flash -- former White Lion/Pride & Glory bassist James LoMenzo has just replaced James MacDonough (formerly of Iced Earth) in Megadeth! Does Dave Mustaine simply like bass players named "James?"

Pretty cool album with a little touch of Molly Hatchet in the songs(well,some of them)...whatta shame the band only recorded one album...the one here listed at HH is the single version release because there's another one that has 2 cd's(bonus tracks)...anyway i'm in agreement with most of the positive comments above...Zakk is great as a musician plus he was surrounded by a couple of "monsters" in here,so,the songs have that killer structure...2,4(nice),5,7(nice),8,10(catchy)& 11 are my faves...enjoyable...86/100

| Zakk Wylde pretending to be a Van Zant ... yeah, it's totally contrived, but the tunes are mostly good. Zakk has never been much of a singer, and his vocals here are often off-key, sometimes painfully so (attermpted harmonies don't help). The lyrics are sometimes laughable, and a few songs are plodding and/or overlong ... but for all that, you can't take away from the guy as a guitar player, andquite a few songs are very good. "Losin' Your Mind, ""Horse Called War," "Harvester of Pain" (a Civil War song!), "Troubled Wine," "Machine Gun Man" and "Toe'n The Line" are all good rockers, despite any faults in the vocal or lyric department. My rwo favorite songs, though, are on the mellow side, "Sweet Jesus" and "Cry Me A River," which are flat-out great songs, some of Zakk's best softer stuff ever. The album was reissued with a botched track order, and a bonus disc, the best song from which is another brooding ballad called "Torn And Tattered."

| Yeah, I agree with "Doghouse." Great lineup, Wylde (one of my favorite guitarist), Tichy (drummer for hire for many bands) and White Lion's Lomenzo. Wylde can't hold a flame to Van Zant singing, especially early days. I have this CD and only play it occasionally, have to be in the mood for it though.

| The other thing about this disc is the production: it's really raw, almost demo-sounding. That must have been on purpose, because they do have a "real" producer. Zakk also does a fair amount of that "singing through a phone" thing that I hate. But overall, I gave it a 75.

| Just got this album and wow it is cool. I really love style mash ups. That underrated band Raging Slab played this style of Southern Rock Hard Rock too.

| Definitely a Skynyrd/Van Zant vibe in the more slower and acoustic tunes whilst i hear some Blackfoot/Sabbath influences with the rockers. Would classify this as somewhere between doom and stoner blended with southern rock. Really all cool tunes to sit back and enjoy and let this sucker roll from top to bottom.
