One of the top AOR releases of the nineties. Everything about this cd is top class, from Spiro's vocals and Keys , to Michael Thompsons superb guitar work. 'Stay Young' is my choice for top track ,along with 'Midwestern Skies' which is totally awesome.

Once again, you're right Jez. Our dear Mark is a genius and I'm waiting to hear his next CD which will be released in the beginning of 2003. The man releases great AOR and deserves a lot more respect ! A must for AOR fans !!!

Yes, this is not a must have, but there are some fine tunes on it. Like "Light in the Darkness", "Mid western skys", or the opener "all the love we kill" Good Cd

This album means a lot to me personally, and is probably one of my most played of all time. The songs are just incredible, and the melodies on "Through my Eyes" and "Around You" just show what an outstanding songwriter the guy is. "Wind on the Water" is just AOR heaven. His following albums were still very good, although a little patchier, but this is the masterpiece.

This is a good consistent and well written release. I must admit, that although it appears very high on everyone else's list, this is actually probably my least fave of his great albums. Obviously better than 'Care of my soul' and even the new one, 'King of the crows', but I like the rest better. Great CD. Songs sound a little same-ish, but who cares. Mark is a great writer!

I am going to have to go against the flow here and say that I was not toatlly impressed with this cd. I like the idea Mark is going for (well crafted pop songs in the aor vein), but somehow it lacks that special something. Maybe it is the strange vocal effect on his voice that is annoying. Or maybe it's cause the drums sound to be programmed. Or maybe it is the sometimes corny lyrics. I don't know, but I have hundreds of cd's in my collection and this just doesn't hold up enough for me, sorry.

Possibly my favourite Mark S release ... possibly! Superb songs throughout, English Channel was co-written with John Waite and you can tell with Mr Spiro sounding similar in his vocal delivery on the track. I can't find any fillers on this but my standouts are English Channel, Wind on the Water, Son With the Walking Shoes, Dancing With Einstein and the beautiful Mid Western Skies!! What a great end to a great release!!

"english channel" de los mejores y van.. 10/10

"English Channel" define al disco, "Mid Western Skies" es insuperable, "In The Dark".. No amigos.. Tú Mismo! 10/10

Saludos.

Que discazo!,AOR fino y elegante donde Mark Spiro canta con el timbre y feeling parecido al gran John Waite, los temas son grandes composiciones que te dejan una gran impresión por su calidad, instrumentación y atmósferas,English Channel,Stay Young y Wind on the water son mis favoritas,me alucinan!,Through my eyes es la original que luego versionaría Philip Bardowell en su gran In the Cut,delicias que calmarán tu sed de AOR de calidad,9/10.

Oh my God..this is awesome!..it has no waste in any sense..is this his best album???..coz this one is worth every penny you pay 4 it and i will buy his other releases 4 sure!...this album is what i call "Inteligent AOR" why?..coz is smooth when and where is needed and edgy when and where is needed..got the point?..from songs 1 up to 4 is a warming up situation and then from tracks 5 to the very last one is a blast!..His voice is amazing, the kind of voice that enriches a type of album like this..just essential my friends...Richard Marx,Toto and Think Out Loud fans will enjoy this album a lot.92/100

I agree with the other comments that Mark Spiro is a talented song writer, but the material on display here is very uneven and even patchy in places. And I think everyone will agree that he hasn't got a great voice either. However, Light in the darkness is a great track!
