These were all tunes written after Spiro was diagnosed with cancer, so as you'd expect it's very dark & intense stuff. The first 2 tracks are excellent, as is "Envy Shade of Green", and despite losing it's way towards the end this album really does reward repeated spins. A few unnecessary modern touches (like distorted vocals) ruin my enjoyment a touch, but otherwise another strong - if unremarkable - set of tunes. 7/10.

Hmm. . ., I respect mr. Spiro, cause he's a big talent. But this CD is very disappointing and I'm not surprised, cause it's on Atenzia and that's IMO the worst label EVER ! Or it's nu-breed, or it's kind of acoustic pop. And that's what we get here. Laid back, often acoustic stuff, so safe that it is boring. I feel sorry for the health condition of Mr. Spiro, but I can't write that this is good. He offered much better stuff in the past !

As with Mark's last album, this has to be approached with a more open mind than on his previous releases. Many of the tracks are very dark lyrically & in mood, although this is not surprising, seeing what he has gone through & It does have Modern touches to some of the material. To me this sounds fine and gives the whole thing a nice up to date feel to the mainly Acoustic stylings of the album. Not an easy listen & one that takes a bit of effort, but persistence with it pays off in the end.

Unfortunately this is a bit of a 'no thanks' from me. There are a couple of songs here I don't mind, but to be frank I am a bit tired of hearing the same song over and over again with different lyrics. Musically and tempo wise, this is just the same thing, and very repetitive. In most cases I say if it ain't broke don't fix it, and I don't mind a style continued if it's good, but for me this release is too much of the same and while it ain't bad, it's just not for me anymore.

Mark Spiro continues on the mellow(er) path, the songs are also all a bit too same-ish, nothing stands out. Nothing to do anymore with the Mark Spiro of The stuff that dreams are made of, from 5 years or so earlier.
