| Very underrated album! Even though it wasn't a step forward from MACHINE HEAD, the band still delivers the goods. "Woman From Tokyo" is one of the band's biggest radio hits, and "Mary Long" stands as one of Purple's greatest songs. For me Jon Lord steals the show on this album. His solos are really hot (check out "Smooth Dancer" and "Rat Bat Blue")! Blackmore, on the other hand, seems to be just going through the motions.

| WDWTWA comes as a bit of a shock after the uniformly excellent Machine Head and the wild success that Made in Japan brought them in North America. The album does have some great moments however. "Woman from Tokyo", "Mary Long" and Gillan/Glover's parting shot to Blackmore, "Smooth Dancer" all do the trick quite nicely. My personal favorite is "Our Lady" with it's Lennon-like vocal treatment and some beautifully understated guitar work from Blackmore.

| It was very tough for Deep Purple to continue the string of classics started with "In Rock". The string ends here with this album. While "Woman From Tokyo" is a classic and "Smooth Dancer" is great, there are some very bad songs such as "Mary Long". 6/10

| This album should be never realeased.Gillan was already out of the picture.Of course Woman From Tokyo its a great song, but the other ones sounds like a B-sides tracks.

| DP just kept growing musically, and did a truly fantastic job with this one. B sides have always been the best, and of course the radio never played them, instead burning us out on A sides.

| even though I heard their greatest hit - smoke on the water more than 15 years ago, this was my first record I got and listened to.songs I still like are: woman from tokyo, mary long and rat bat blue.

| "Woman from Tokyo" is an awesome song! Played the heck out of it during my middle school years! Agree with comments about the rest of this album.

| I HATE Woman from Tokyo. It's the most annoying MK2 song by a landslide. Overall this album is weak and it's obvious that there were a lot of problems between the musicians, especially Gillan and Blackmore. Smooth Dancer is great even if Gillan wrote it as kind of "revenge" against Blackmore (who brings some nice guitar work into the song). Rat Bat Blue is another nice song and Super Trouper is OK. The best song was left out though, Painted Horse is awesome. A shame Blackmore disliked it and forced it off the album...

| very good release for DEEP PURPLE once again with Jon s keys stealing the show and Richie s guitars one step back!remarkable songwriting ,fine jams and overall a nice one bit under rated mostly because the lack of big songs!def highlight the "woman from tokyo"
