Excellent funk-metal from the world's greatest band! This album proved that you don't need Blackmore to make a high quality Purple album. "This Time Around/"Owed To G" are two of the band's most haunting tracks. Plus, the finest vocal work of Coverdale's career can be heard on this record.

With this album Deep Purple was on the verge of a major change in direction. "Gettin' tighter" and "last time around" were great songs. Could Tommy Bolin revive Deep Purple like he did the James Gang? We will never know since he died shortly after this album.

This album is incredible! Tommy Bollin was a great musician , better than Blackmore. Comin´home,You keep on moving and Gettin tighter are Purple Classics.

From: Emilio Date: June 30, 2003 at 11:21
Tommy Bolin better than Blackmore. jajajajajajaja. Bolin commit suicide because he can't play better than Blackmore. Maybe Blackmore commit suicide with Candice Night. (I´m very sad). But not for Mrs. Night.

THANKS GOD BLACKMORE CREATE RAINBOW!!!!

Deep Purple were already 180 degrees in the opposite direction with the release of "Come Taste the Band". This lp is great, so compare it as you will. "Rippied Drinkmore" is NOT as talented as Bolin. Why do you think he plays 80% of his shit in 'G'? No fingering required! Open strings baby! "Rippied Drinkmore" is a drunk! After Tommy Bolin died DP were messed up. It took the "Perfect Strangers" reunion to get back into the limelight and the lp sucked! As I said, this one is great. Cheers!

Blackmore was a God, I agree... But in 1975 he had his Rainbow and Purple made "Come Taste The Band", wonderful piece of music... Coverdale and Hughes are my favourite vocalists, Bolin was a great musician... R.I.P. Tommy

I won't rip Blackmore, as "In Rock" is still one of my all-time faves. Even though C.T.T.B. is not "Deep Purple" per se, I must say, it's the BEST album from a band bearing that name. "Gettin' Tighter," "Comin' Home," "Lady Luck," and "Dealer." Bolin RULED. What a horrible loss. The man played with so much passion. Get ANYTHING by him that you can. I LOVE this album; "10" is simply insufficient.

The best album from Deep Purple with the best song: This time around/Owed to "G". GLEN HUGHES IS THE BEST SINGER OF ALL TIME and here he shows his powerfull voice. Ican´t understand that people miss Gillan ´cause Hughees is THE VOICE. I give this one a 10. ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING ALBUM. Contact: davidgilvallejo@wanadoo.es

While "Come Taste The Band" was a departure, for sure, it was also one of the BEST albums Deep Purple ever produced! Tommy Bolin was an innovator and, along with Glenn Hughes, would have no doubt revolutionized Deep Purple. ( Check out Bolin's, "Private Eyes" release.)I have loved D.P. since the early 70's, love Blackmore, love all the "classic" DP stuff, but still, I say "Come Taste The Band" is Purple at a wonderful, glorious and unique point in their evolution. This is must have Purple!

There is a hidden track on here but nobody know what it is called.

Never a dull moment with DP. Ritchie who? I loved Ritchie's playing, but Tommy fit the bill just fine.

I don't know that this version of the band should have been called Deep Purple. But they were. There are no hints of the Gillan, Blackmore days on this cd other than to say it is hard rock music. I am however very comforted that the integrity of the music here is still very alive although different. Coverdale is a good rock vocalist, Hughes brings the funk, & Bolin is a fantastic fusion (jazz/rock) player that lacks no techincal abilities. Mix this all together & it works quite well. Deep Funk a

a big depature for D.P here.To me it's as good as anything they have done.Tommy Bolin is such a underrated player and he doesn't show off all that he can do...and he can do alot.I can't say enuff bout his playin.Glenn and David turn in great performances also. a must have IMO.
