Good to see them bounce back to some degree. The sound of this disc is awesome and 'The distance' is one of the best tracks ever by BJ. The rockers are good and solid but suffer from banal, poor lyrics and the ballads are all pretty average... except for 'You had me at hello'. For some reason I love that song. First track is very good too, but overall there are a lot of fillers here, and a lot of very average tracks.

This CD is the equivalent of french-kissing a hot supermodel--it's good, but leaves you wanting something more. Songwriting-wise, this is about the same competent level as "Crush," meaning a few great tracks, a bunch of average fillers, and some oh-god-what-were-they-thinking duds. The band's got what it takes and here's hoping that someday they'll stop teasing us and release a fist-pumpin', balls-out, hard rockin' album that will have us so excited, we'll be reaching for the rubbers...

From: Lennie Date: August 24, 2005 at 7:22
Hey Metalmaniac777 (great name by the way!) What about the debut - doesnt come much better than that & it had me pretty excited in the early 80s! Agree that recent albums have been hit and miss - some great songs (ie 'The Distance' here) but plenty of fillers - see what they churn out later this year????! cheers

I don't think I've survived a start to finish listen with this album yet. I get halfway through track TWO before I feel like carving my initials into the CD. I kind of like the song Bounce, aside from the fact it sounds like a watered down version of It's My Life. Everyday drives me completely insane and why this was ever blasted all over the radio is beyond me. Oh yeah, the other songs suck even more. When this CD doesn't rock, it's bearable. When it does, its downright painful. 1.2/10

From: pozermaniac Date: September 16, 2005 at 3:19
this one is good from the ONLY ONE STILL ALIVE ROCK BAND around the world. but the stuff they putting out this year... oh man... is UNBELIEVABLE! Have a nice day is simply one of Bon Jovis best.

From: FoJ Date: October 8, 2005 at 9:03
I really like this album. This was the first BJ album I got into since Keep The Faith. The rockers here are awesome! I agree about "The Distance". But I also really like "Hook Me Up" and "Bounce". The story songs are cool like Joey and Right Side of Wrong. The lovey ballads suck, especially Open All Night. PUKE! How can a grown man still write that crap?! At least its the last song so its easily skipped! But overall, this is a very strong record from a true American rock band.

From: rockers2000 Date: October 10, 2005 at 5:04
Sigh... another disappointment... The only good song is "Undivided"... The rest like "Everyday", the radio and media over play it...

From: RAMYRO-LARSON Date: October 5, 2006 at 15:14
UN disco que realmente hay que tener muy pocas ganas de hacer musica como para que salga tan mal, puede haber algun que otro tema, pero en general el disco es muy flojo!!!!!! BAD, BAD, ALBUM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: rockers2000 Date: November 19, 2006 at 5:11
The only great song is "Undivided". I am sure they can really do better than this. They had totally gone commercial! Just like Metallica. If they still stick to their roots and style, I am sure they have their old fans as well as their new ones.

From: Metalmusicman Date: January 1, 2007 at 17:37
Gee, I am the only one that thought this was leaps and bounds over "Crush"? Granted it is still not BJ at their very best, but come on. Some of this stuff is really quality sh*t! While there are still weaker elements, back are the majestic choruses, big hooklines, and killer melodies you are used to and were missing on most of "Crush". This effort had a much better overall feel to it as well. The title track is just awsome and one of my BJ favs now. Getting back on track. Good stuff!

a mi este disco si me gusto, como dije, no seran los mismos de antes, pero tampoco para que el disco sea una porqueria..el peor disco de ellos es el crush..

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: October 13, 2007 at 19:47

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 11:26
This is a better CD then the previous last two but still average.

From: ryerordstar Date: March 6, 2008 at 14:02
I think this is probably Bon Jovi's best CD since New Jersey. The songwriting I feel is top notch, they have come a long way. Although they seem to be heading more towards Adult Contemporary Radio, lot of slower songs. But I just love Joey, Right Side of Wrong and You had Me At Hello.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 16, 2009 at 0:28
A little bit better than "Crush" but still poor somehow..."Everyday" sounds like a mid tempo's "It's My Life"..."Bounce"(modern rock sound)"Misunderstood"(alternative sound and a single???).Quite forgeteable...80/100

From: hair metal again Date: July 16, 2011 at 1:27
fantastic release by the mighty BON JOVI!all the songs are very good and there are 4or 5 suberb songs like "the distance","you had me from hello","love me back to life","all about lovin you".the sound and production are of the highest quality and overall BOUNCE was a pleasant surprise!

From: JOVIAOR Date: July 18, 2011 at 16:24
Bon Jovi is back, this is a fantastic album with great songs that will hook u up instantly! Undivided, Everyday, The Distance, Bounce, Hook me up, Joey, All About lovin' you and Misunderstood is the reason why!

From: fireforce kai Date: July 21, 2011 at 20:53
The heaviest Bon Jovi album to date, and a return to hard rock after the poppy "Crush". "Undivided", "Everyday", "The Distance" and "Hook Me Up" are the highlights of the album, with some forgettable ones like "Joey" and "Misunderstood". Overall a pretty good album from the Jersey boys.

From: MetalllianStallion Date: July 22, 2011 at 6:31
fireforce kai - "The heaviest Bon Jovi album to date"? Did you not get the memo for the band's first 2 releases? 'Undivided' is a nice tribute tune for 9/11 with a little crunch but let's not get carried away with this overall average release. Post another response after listening to S/T and 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit. Paste this link and prepare yourself for Hardcore Jovi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoOhm-RK-ug

From: fireforce kai Date: July 24, 2011 at 1:55
Metallian Stallion - What I meant by saying that this was the heaviest BJ album was that, IMO, the guitar work in this release is heavier than the previous ones. Of course, both the debut album and 7800º Fahrenheit are way better than this one, but I think "Bounce" is a solid release. Edge Of A Broken Heart is one of the finest songs BJ ever made, too bad it wasn't included in "Slippery".

From: CC Date: July 24, 2011 at 15:03
Sorry, but the S/T is one of their most lightweight poppy albums. How on earth is it heavier than this one? 7800 through to keep the faith would probably be their heaviest, but the debut, as great as it is, is so light its full of helium.

From: MetalllianStallion Date: July 25, 2011 at 1:59
CC - I was replying to a comment so I use the word 'heavy' and Bon Jovi loosely in the same sentence. BJ must have released a Slayer covers album that I am unaware of, as 'Roulette' 'Breakout', and 'Shot through the Heart' are lightweight pop? I challenge you to a track vs. track dual in the name of your god (Jericho-Fozzy - Chasing their tales). Pick any 3 tracks off 'Keep the Faith' that make my chosen 3 songs sound like pop. fireforce kai who sounds like a BJ aficionado will be the judge. If I win you must burn all your Mongoose McQueen trading cards.

Listening to this again...as i wrote back in 2009 an album with a modern sound...apart from the 2 hit singles "Everyday" & "Misunderstood" there are some other "nice ones" such as "Undivided","The Distance","All About Lovin' You" & "Bounce"...my old rate still remains intact...cheers mates!!!

From: titothetitan Date: September 30, 2019 at 17:28
I'm not a big fan of this band but this album I liked a lot. Very pleasant to hear it and lots of ballads. 'Misunderstood' is a killer and "Love Me Back to Life' is very catchy.

From: MelodicMetal4Ever Date: May 20, 2021 at 19:29
love or hate Bon Jovi. You have to agree. He can write and sing some KILLER BALLADS!! I did like most of these songs. "All About Lovin' You" is a perfect example.
