Oh yeah, my grubby little hands are waiting on this one.

From: TheRipper Date: October 6, 2002 at 22:27
This is one of those killer rare CD's that's really worth the search! Essential, 10 easily! All the songs are pure melodic AOR classics. One of my favs cdgemz@hotmail.com

From: TIM Date: October 6, 2002 at 23:15
PJ might still have the extra copy if someone has the cash or some great trades.

From: koogles Date: October 8, 2002 at 17:15
PJ does have one left. In my opinion, it's a good disc with a lot of folklore behind its release and subsequent retraction from the market. Fans of J.T. Shelter and Hybrid Ice ("No Rules") will be somewhere between clouds eight and ten. After the sting of the investment wears off...

From: TIM Date: October 20, 2002 at 1:08
Hey koogles, did you say that Simon Says "Spin This" was better? I haven't heard that one yet.

From: koogles Date: October 20, 2002 at 20:41
Hi TIM. Yeah, the production on the Simon Says CD is killer. Similar to The Explorers "We Always Want" or Wall of Silence "Shock to the System". Hard to believe it's an indie. I've heard both Simon Says and Shelter and they're pretty close, but I think Simon Says is a bit better.

From: TIM Date: November 9, 2002 at 19:12
I just got a cdr of Simon Says- Spin This and I think it's a whole lot better. It sounds great!

From: jkanaris Date: December 30, 2002 at 13:50
Wow, are you guys serious? "Killer rare CD"? "A good disc with a lot of folklore behind its release"? Might someone tell me what that folklore is? I'd really be interested. Listening to it now, it feels so ... so ... unpolished and dated. I'm honored that it's being discussed and yet it's hard to believe.

From: TheRipper Date: December 30, 2002 at 18:55
Jim, email me I will give you the story... chakabri@aol.com

From: koogles Date: December 31, 2002 at 15:22
Jim... I believe the CD was retracted after the death of one of your band mates, is this correct? E-mail me at endangeredcds@hotmail.com. Thanks

From: jkanaris Date: December 31, 2002 at 21:56
The death of the band mate was my brother, who played guitar. Died of cancer, 32 years of age. The CD was NOT retracted, as far as I know. Because it was an independent release the main investors didn't think it was worth reprinting. We also disbanded with the lead singer and guitar player forming JT Shelter. That project folded soon after the release of their debut album.

From: mellowdickmusic Date: December 31, 2002 at 22:15
It's the J.T.SHELTER 1993 cd that was retracted by the record company,KARDIAK RECORDS.The company destroyed 2000 cds.I got the info from J.T.BATTEN the lead singer.I told that story to someone and he told everybody else that it was the SHELTER cd that was retracted. How can a self released cd be retracted.I already posted all that info on this web site. It's another seller that posted on his web site the wrong info, saying it was the SHELTER 1991 cd.I won't name him!!!!

From: Date: December 31, 2002 at 22:19
That sounds more like it mellow. However, I don't know how many Shelter CDs are still floating around.

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2003 at 0:23
Hi Jim. Drop me an e-mail all the same. Thanks. Happy new year.

From: TIM Date: April 30, 2003 at 5:38
No offence, none of the ebay averages are for this cd. It's for J.T. Shelter and Les B.B..

From: TheRipper Date: August 4, 2003 at 19:08
For an AOR indie (not just for indies though, in general too) this one still holds my interest. Has that "Big" AOR sound of the 80's (although released in early 90's) and some smokin' guitar work along with some catchy hooks! Tracks 2 through 6 make this a solid release alone. Recommended, true AOR with a little kick!

From: Animal Date: April 20, 2004 at 23:24
For those of you who enjoyed this album... keep your eyes open for another, brand-new "Shelter" album within the next year or so!

From: TheRipper Date: April 21, 2004 at 0:42
Animal, are fuckin kidding me? Are you sure it's from the same Shelter? Is it going to be new material, or new unreleased material, like a lost batch of songs or album? I remember Jim Kanaris saying there were some demos to this, or right after and say they were in the same vein and a little more rockin and maybe even a little better in his opinion... I hope this is the case and this stuff does get released... We'll see...

From: Animal Date: June 3, 2004 at 10:16
TheRipper, dude i am dead serious. the same lead singer (JT Batten) and the rhythm guitar player's son (me) with of course three other guys. I am Nick Kanaris' son and Jim's nephew. i am the drummer of this newly formed 'shelter' with brand-spanking new material. i'll keep u all posted! (forgive the lateness of my reply)

From: Shelter Vox Boy Date: June 10, 2004 at 23:32
Ripper, 'tiz True! We're releasing a new CD late fall '04 (9 tracks). I've gotta pipe & engineer the tracks! We're a little older, a little less mature & a whole lot more in your face sounding now, the tracks will soar. Look 4 Dan Hebert (our new lead guitarist) to smoke your last brain cell! Pretty much VH/Def Lep/& a brick wall of soaring vocals! J. 4 Shelter. PS. If you hit download.com's music site, & search "shelter" there's an old demo version of "Don't Let Go" there - free! Later, bro...

From: Twitch Date: June 17, 2004 at 20:16
I rated this record an 8/10! Just pulled this one out for a first spin in about 5 years. Must say it still sounds as good as the day I bought it for about $5 at one of their gigs in Pte-Claire (Pioneer Club) back in '91. BTW, the songs absolutely rocked live! J.T. was an aquaintance and a damn fine singer. This release has a certain flair and energy (or should I say 'youthful enthusiasm') that the subsequent 'J.T. Shelter' CD lacked. Sure the sound and production could have been more crisp, but

From: Twitch Date: June 17, 2004 at 20:18
...to finish my first post for an indie release, it's more than adequate. My favourite tracks are: 2, 3, 5 & 7 (for some reason 'Can You Feel It' always reminded me of vintage Motley Crue). J.T., Glad to see you're still at it after all these years. Take care.

From: Shelter Vox Boy Date: June 19, 2004 at 17:59
Twitch, a demo of an old tune is available at download.com. - free. Grab it while you can. We'll be informing the public about Shelter on the download.com site and right here at Heavy Harmonies! This site rocks! We've been working out the tracks... this album is going to torch all the earlier stuff.

From: David Date: July 12, 2004 at 23:27
Does anyone know when the new album is coming out???

From: West Of Sunset Date: July 27, 2004 at 12:10
I got this one sealed from ebay!!!!! Iīm waiting.... Contact:davidgilvallejo@wanadoo.es

From: Shelter Vox Boy Date: July 27, 2004 at 23:24
OK gang! Here's the scoop. We are pre-tracking! There will be exactly 9 songs on the NEW album. Steve (drums), Pat (bass), Dan (guitar) & I (vox) are positive this album will put ya on your backside! We're dedicated to playing old & new Shelter when we start gigging. We don't know far it'll 'travel', but it will have everything we can sweat into it! The news will be on the tripod site http://paradisenow/tripod.com until we launch the Shelter site! email .. sheltertheband@rogers.com later

From: Daniel Hebert Date: July 29, 2004 at 0:32
Just for the record, this album is gonna kick butt! and I am proud to be in the same band as Jordan and my friend Steve. I don't know the full details of the new CD, I just know how the songs go, but keep an eye out for the CD. SHELTER VOX (J. BATTEN) should have all the info you need about the CD. Peace!!!

From: oliver Date: August 5, 2004 at 11:52
checked the song donīt let go at download.com. to be honest: iīm not impressed. a little average aor. may be the other tracks are better. there were 2 more shelter tracks: time for change + he will be there for you; both from the end of the 90s. but cool melodic/aor stuff. this isnīt the same band? could anyone give me some information? thanks.

From: Daniel H Date: August 5, 2004 at 13:51
The other two songs are by 'Paradise Now' another band that J.T. (VOX) did some work with.

From: oliver Date: August 5, 2004 at 15:31
thanks a lot for this very quick reply. is paradise now the name of the band? couldnīt find it nowhere. google has nothing. whatīs the title of the cd release? thanks!!

From: Shelter Vox Boy Date: August 6, 2004 at 22:19
Hey All, let's keep posts 'Shelter' related, to keep the HH 'crew' happy, cool. I appreciate all that's said, here at HH, good & not so good about us, it keeps us going/growing. I've started a thread on the HH message board 'Shout It To The World > Shelter's new Album, Keep your eyes open'. Post q's there & I'll piece together all the Shelter, JT Shelter, & Paradise Now info. When the new album's reviewable, HH will know. See you on the messageboard thread... Shelter is still kicking! - JT

From: Geoff Date: September 5, 2004 at 21:38
This one is very melodic, but not one of my faves. Good solid AOR and I can see why it's got a solid fan base as it does have a very good sound for an indie release.

From: Animal Date: September 29, 2004 at 22:20
Keep checking our site... http://paradisenow.tripod.com ...for our progress and release dates. The site now contains a solo by our very own fretboard gymnist, AKA Dan. Stay posted! Rock on!

From: Chris Ford Date: December 28, 2004 at 16:43
Great to hear the cd still talked about. I have a few copies of it plus Jordy's second one,"J T Shelter". Knew Nick, Jim, Jordy & Bob well...I was the original bass player in Shelter, up until 86,when I moved to England-am still there. We had some great times and were like family - Nice to hear the offspring of forming their own band. I still play, and will be resurrecting (with a few twists) some of the pre-Shelter CD tunes I taped on cassette during rehersals from 84-86. Now, where's Jordy?

From: Chris Ford Date: January 1, 2005 at 15:01
Not to worry...I found him.

From: z4roxx Date: January 12, 2005 at 23:11
Same thing as J.T.Shelter,also this one is not christian band in my opinion,by the way pretty good aor, catchy tracks ext..not awesome but really good..8/10

Does someone have info on the other Shelter? The ones that got an album in the early 80s called FIRST STOP...? I think it has only been pressed on vynil, I got the mp3 convertion for it. On that album Im talking about I got to put a 9.5/10.00 top notch early 80s AOR with a westcoast feel to it. "Gald I Found You", "The Way I feel", "Who do you love", just superb songs on it! Absolute masterpice! Any info plese drive_she_said@hotmail.com

From: Animal777 Date: May 26, 2005 at 7:17

Hi again Folks, This is a GREAT!!! and AWESOME!!!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 26, 2005 at 3:00
Give it Up(Mi FAVORITA y la Ganadora del album IMO por ser la mas completa y ese corito que meten es UNICO!!!), Love Won't Wait, Don't Let Go, Melody, Can You Feel It, Never Alone 6 cortes que convierten este Clasico en Imperdible en tu coleccion, esa puntuacion no hace justicia a este disco, saludos a todos los hermanos amantes del mejor Rock y la mejor musica que tendra la raza humana.

Very Good/Friendly AOR EP but not Great nor Classic. "Never Alone"(My fave!) and "Melody" my favorite tracks. Catchy vocal harmonies and nice tunes/keyboards. 777

To all old Shelter fans, and FYI. The Shelter website is being closed down the end of this year (2011). We (JT Batten (vocals), Jim Kanaris (original drummer) and Jim Beis (the band's first photographer) are doing a fund raiser for cancer research. If you are interested in helping out with a donation, visit www.sheltertheband.com or http://www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR?px=2638534&pg=personal&fr_id=1373&fl=en_US&et=kPYEVq0Umv6Uq-b7eVsGNg..&s_tafId=214963 and read the details. A sealed copy of of the original incy CD/and tape and a copy of the radio release from 2005 is being given to the first 50 doners who donate $50 or more. Help us out as we ride to conquer cancer, and eradicate it in our lifetime! In advance, thanks for any and all support! - JT

From: Leykis101 Date: March 17, 2013 at 18:35
Are you still doing cancer donations?
