| Buckcherry is a good comparison. Broken Teeth and Junkyard would be a couple other bands along that same line. Has that AC/DC type sound. Not too bad, nothing real outstanding. 'What's It to You' is my favorite track off the album

| Whooooooo-ee! Bought this when it came out, when 'Under It All' was the single, and did I ever play the living shit out of THIS one! Great album, no bulshit, even if it is a little (okay, VERY) derivative. Only bad song is the repetitive 'Skin Up.' I give 'er an 8.5.

| Straight ahead rock 'n' roll. No mysterious time changes, political lyrics or hidden messages here. Great for crankin' it up in the car, my only complaint is I wish the guitar player was a little better...8 out o' 10 for me.

| Great Rock N Roll album, much superior to the likes of Buckcherry and Beautiful Creatures. Rock radio should have given this band more airtime instead.

| dirty rock n roll the way it is supposed to be played..NO HOLDS BARRED..love the riffing and the attitude the band had..kinda in places reminds me of seahags..i love this type of r n r..1 question ..where the hell are they now??

| Exactly anamal, where are they. A band like New American Shame would be better suited for representing the so-called current 'real rock uprising' than the Darkness.

I just dusted this off the other day after going through both Buckcherry cd's. This band definately needs to do another CD. If you're a fan of Aerosmith, AC/DC, Buckcherry, and Hanoi Rocks 'In Your Face' rock'n'roll style, you'll love this!!! If not...just get it for the cover art

| Quick NAS update. Disbanded, pick up the Crow Salvation sdtrk. for Broken Wings. Jim went on to form Tacoma, Wa. based Point Defience, also no more. These guys are all local Seattle whores, many bands,try the Lemons, Bathtub Gin, Tramp Alley, Talks Cheap, to name a few. Too bad most of the bands never made it farther than me. | If you can get this one cheap, pick it up. In Reality the only really great tunes on this one are Under It All and Auburn. The rest is pretty much mediocre and relagated to backbround music at a bonfire. The two aforementioned tunes are stellar though. Don't expect alot from this release, put it in and play it. Decide for yourself.

| 'Rather be rich' is great. The whole thing is just a good collection of hard rock. If you like Buckcherry and Backyard Babies I can't see you not liking this one. Cool hard rock.

| excellent debut for NEW AMERICAN SHAME with their sound being close to bands like JUNKYARD,BUCKCHERRY with that dirty street basic hard rock approach and those rough vocals!"under it all","broken bones" and "doghouse" are the def highlights of this fine indie release

| It's not an indie, dude, at least not in this form (released on Atlantic, just before that label got swallowed up in mergers). But eight of the twelve songs did make up the band's original indie release on something called Will Records. Four more were recorded for this major-label debut. You don't even have to listen too closely to hear the difference in production between those four and the original eight. Spoiler alert: the new songs were "Down In The Valley," "Rather Be Rich," "Somethin' Right" and "Lesson In Cool."

| It is really a tragedy that this band only released the one album. Coming out in 1999 was rough as American radio and mtv was still on it's alternative rock band wagon, and saw anything that sounded like tradition hard rock and metal as poison, and was ignored. This album sounds like ACDC mixed with some influences of the 80s LA metal scene. Lots of killer guitar riffs and catchy songs a real diamond of a album.

| The funny thing is, New American Shame DID get airplay for "Under It All" in the summer of '99, and opened for both the Cult and Megadeth. They were Atlantic's version of Buckcherry. There was aa real buzz in the air, however delusional, about this kind of music coming back into fashion, with John ualodner and his Portrait Records putting out new music from Great White and Ratt, plus Def Leppard promising a return to the sound that made them superstars with Euphoria. But somehow it just didn't happen for the Shame, partly because of trouble at Atlantic, and I also heard some of the band members were kind of a mess. Too bad. They were better than Buckcherry in my book.
