IMO the lions share of the talent(Paul Laine,Andy Timmons)is missing on this DD release. On a positive note, every song isn't filled with lyrics of a sexual innuendo like the first two DD releases, but then again you still have to endure the nasal drone singing of Ted Poley. Poley is at his best when he does not wander from his limited vocal range 'Killin' Love'. I always thought Poley was the weak link in DD and that the band would have been a bigger act with Laine at the helm from the beginning. Half of this band's current lineup ran circles around 'Revolve' IMO with Marcello/Vestry S/T. Is there a outcry for DD with the original singer? See for yourself at Rocklahoma 2009, the biggest rock festival in the states with over 150,000 fans coming from all over the world. There must be 100+ people in the crowd including the band's relatives and roadies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqvF74IgDPc&feature=PlayList&p=AF342EA2FDBF245E&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=12

''POLEY THE WEAK LINK IN DD''? I CAN'T GET IT. I LOVE BOTH DANGER DANGER VERSIONS (POLEY-LAINE ERAS) BUT TO CRITICIZE SUCH A GREAT CROONER AS TED IS A MYSTERY. MAYBY BACK THEN IN THE GOLDEN HAIR ERA ,WHERE DANGER DANGER RULED THE AIRWAVES, METALLLIANSTALLION WAS LISTENING TO SOME SHITTY METAL AND NOT THE MELODIC STUFF WE GREW. ANYWAY DANGER DANGER IS AN ICONIC GREAT BAND AND BRUNO RAVEL A MEGA ROCK N'ROLLER WHO DIDN'T GET THE CREDITS HE DESERVES. DANGER DANGER RULE!!! NUFF SAID.

Fantastic comeback from the hair metal kings!Brilliant stuff, great hooks,Poley's voice is on top form and Marcello simply rocksssssss!

From: Hollywood Tease Date: August 28, 2009 at 13:29
Awesome comeback, can't wait to see them live!!

From: Mediaab Date: August 31, 2009 at 6:26
MetalllianStallion is quite right in his review, I think. Even though Ted is a good singer, IMO Paul Laine is much more diverse, has a far better range and a more manly fullblown voice. Ted is a bit nasal and baby-ish in his singing, but still a great singer. The problem with this CD is not Ted however, but that the songs are not as strong as on previous albums. "Revolve" is not bad by any means, but compared to for instance "Four The Hard Way", is much less powerful. Discussing Poley-era D2, "Revolve" is good, but can't touch the greatness of their debut and "Cochroach", or even "Screw it". Still a nice return and a nice try, decent album and again a fine production.

I do think that this is a VERY GOOD release. More of a Ted Poley solo AOR style, rather than a hard rock cd.Everyone considers the first 2 their best. which i do understand seeing that i grew up with those cd's back then. BUT, when i got cockroach,I said oh my God What an amazing style of music they grew into. To me that is their best cd. But i do like this one as well.

From: the rocker Date: September 1, 2009 at 21:51
I forgot to mention my fav's from this one. Thats what i'm talking about(my 4 year old loves to sing the chorus to this one in the car)Hearts on the highway, keep on keepin' on,and Dirty mind ,which is classic d2.others are, Killing love,Ghost of love is'nt bad.

From: Axe Slinger Date: September 2, 2009 at 17:43
Yes, this is a very good effort. Most songs are very catchy and I look forward to hitting the play button again and again. Ted sounds great and IS the only singer I really recognize when I think of D2. Paul is fine but I like Ted better with D2. 90/100

From: West Of Sunset Date: September 10, 2009 at 2:06
I think that the missed one is Paul Laine here. Paul has a better voice than Ted and this album would be far better with Paul, but the band prefeer to have Ted on the mic because they believe that it would be better, nothing real. This is a good album, but wait nine years for this??? and without Paul??? buff so hard for me. I only have to listen to "Still kickin´" from Cockroach to realize that Paul Laine is a monster singer. A singer is the most characteristic feature in a band and here Ted shows a powerless voice with a limited range. Just listen to both Cockroach and think for yourself. 7/10 it could be 9/10 if Paul were on the mic.

From: erik Date: September 14, 2009 at 6:15
Blistering return to form. Awesome to see Ted back with DD. Just listen to the Cockroach version with Ted and the difference is obvious. DD = TP. Anyway great album, with some very catchy chorusses. In the old DD style we have all grown to love and like. One of THE albums of the year. DD is back on top !91/100

From: juan carlos Date: September 18, 2009 at 20:00
Oh yeah! what a Melodic HRock album, what a fantastic return! Good production, catchy choruses, cool solos, Great songs! "Revolve" sometimes reminds me of the debut DD album! Great ballad "Never Give Up" and "Fugitive" also good but my favorite song is "Hearts on the Highway" a total Anthem! "That's What I'm Talking About" is a killer opener. The fine vocal performance of Ted Poley on "Killin' Love" is simply great, "F.U.$" ala Def Leppard.. Highly Recommended. 9/10 I hope Ted Poley plays some of these songs here in LIMA.

From: poser forever Date: September 19, 2009 at 4:36
SIMPLY THE BEST 2009 RELEASE SO FAR. EXCELLENT MELODIC HARD ROCK BY THE GREAT DANGER DANGER.I WANNA NOTE THAT THE LYRICS ARE OUTSTANDING. WELL DONE Mr RAVEL!!!

From: Swedish Rocker Date: September 19, 2009 at 9:55
Disappointing. Too soft and AOR-ish for my taste.

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: September 20, 2009 at 14:13
Very good CD 90/100 SOFT US HARD ROCK/AOR at it's best Huge come back record very mature both musically and lyrically too ! The prod is huge ,the guitar playing is outstanding and the songwriting is also excellent.... even it's more laid back , it can still rock you in the right way ! BUY IT NOW !!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 21, 2009 at 21:52
Nice comeback with the mainman on the mic,Mr Poley!..not understimating Laine's work but Danger Danger's Ted...anyway the first 4 songs are killer ones "That's What I'm Talking About","Ghost Of Love"(AOR),"Killin' Love"(wonderful lyric)and "Hearts On The Highway"(ballad)...the only song that really i found it a filler is "Rocket To Your Heart" basically because of the lirycs (childlish) and the kinda grunge sound that the song has.Anyway a good album and enjoyable 2 listen 2.90/100

From: CC Date: September 22, 2009 at 18:55
Rocket to your heart grunge sound? What the hell? Thats one of the most melodic tracks on the CD, and one of the best songs at that.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 22, 2009 at 22:58
The chorus is melodic not the instrumentation...the song sounds like a song that could have easyly been recorded by those new modern bands such as Maroon 5 or Matchbox 20..i'm talkin' about the song "Rocket To Your Heart"..maybe the terminology "grunge" is not the appropiate one to use but this song is neither "Rock America" nor "Naughty Naughty"....

From: sweetmelodies89 Date: September 23, 2009 at 3:36
Wow, what a great comeback from a legendary band of Melodic Rock! Ted Poley is back in the band makes it all right! The new guitarist Rob Marcello (influenced by a certain Kee Marcello from Europe) does some serious axework, fantastic! No fillers on this one just a straight forward great rock disc! Welcome back D2!

From: MHR Date: September 25, 2009 at 5:58
not bad

From: erik Date: September 25, 2009 at 10:37
Rocket to your heart is a great song, with an excellent chorus and has absolutely nothing to do at all with grunge. Couldnot be further awat it. HFuck grunge is the worst shit ever to hit the musical scene. Kurty boy and his untalented friends destroyed completely the melodic rock scene ruling the airwaves at that time. Sorry but when i start talking about that shit grunge music i tend to get carried away

From: Deco Date: September 29, 2009 at 18:32
What a fantastic new release from the Danger Danger boys. Best AOR release of 09 by far. I totally agree with Erik grunge is shite, almost destroyed good melodic rock music for ever absolutely no melody or catchy sound to grunge. Hope this Danger Danger cd brings the boys to the top of the pile and puts this type of music back where it belongs. Long live real Melodic Metal.

Apart from the excellent debut, I have never really been a major fan of these guys, but this new opus is spot on in every department. Songwise, this has some huge tunes 'Ghost Of Love' and the mega 'Killin' Love' being my two high points, although 'Hearts On The Highway', 'Rocket To Your Heart' and closer 'Dirty Mind' give them a run for their money. Definitely an album that will be up there with the best of them come years end and A very very pleasant surprise.

From: KrizzRoxx Date: October 11, 2009 at 18:38
Que gran noticia saber que Ted Poley regresa a casa!!! Revolve: Un disco cargado de grandes melodías, algo que personalmente me dejo sin palabras que gran disco!!!! recomendado desde mi punto de vista totalmente

From: Geoff Date: October 11, 2009 at 23:57
Absolutely excellent. I enjoy every D2 album, even 'Dawn' to a degree, and I love Laine's contribution, but imo there is no doubt that the first 3 discs with Poley (inc. 'Cockroach') are their best CDs, so to hear Poley had returned was heaven to me. And it must be said that he sounds better on this CD than anything he's done since he left D2. And there is no doubt this is the best CD he's recorded since 'Cockroach'. Prefering the harder rocking side of the band I wish there was a little more tongue-in-cheek hard rock n'roll like 'Screw it', but I LOVE what is on offer. 'Rocket to your heart' is amazing and is my favourite song, followed by 'Hearts on the highway', 'Never give up', 'Killin' love' and killer closer 'Dirty mind'. But there is not a filler on site and even, imo, the weakest song 'Beautiful regret' is good stuff. Along with Steel Panther, this is the best CD I've heard this year.

i'm seeing d2 on friday 10/16/09, can't wait.

From: the rocker Date: October 17, 2009 at 9:40
Just saw them last night in Chicopee Ma. with Far Cry, Great show from both bands.

From: Distance Date: October 23, 2009 at 12:36
Well i was 17 in 1989 when the debut came out... This really brought back memories of those days.! Superb cd and not a filler in sight and great production. Danger Danger to me is Ted Poley, as for someone saying saying the talent had gone (paul laine, andy timmons) the main man behind DD is Bruno Ravel and his writing is top notch on this one..!!

From: 123charpenay Date: October 30, 2009 at 18:16
I ALWAYS THINK THAT THE SINGER OF DANGER DANGER IS TED POLEY.EVEN IF I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST PAUL LAINE.SUPERB NEW ALBUM.NOT VERY HARD LIKE THE FIRST 3 ALBUMS.THIS CD S IS MORE AOR THAN HARD FM LIKE THE SOLOS ALBUM OF TED POLEY.REVOLVE IS WITHOUT A DOUBT BETTER THAN THE 2 SOLOS ALBUMS OF TED POLEY.I RECOMMAND THE JAPAN IMPORT (superb bonus track acoustic version of "beautiful regret"

From: JamesEagle Date: November 2, 2009 at 15:47
Going to have to buck the trend on this one and say I thought it was poor. Love Poley's vocals, but nothing he has done has come close to the first DD album in my opinion in terms of the quality of the songs. The only track I like on here is 'Rocket To Your Heart', the only one that will be staying on my iPod. I just don't enjoy the other tracks and will not be listening to them again. A real shame, as after reading lots of great reviews I had high hopes for this album.

From: edwithmj Date: November 5, 2009 at 17:51
Finally, a decent Danger Danger album worthy of following Screw It. This is better than Cockroach for many reasons. The guitars are better: Marcello is 1000 times better than Timmons. The song writing fits Poley's voice a hell of a lot more than the lyrics on Cockroach did. This album has me hooked for life now with not a bad song on it. Classic Danger Danger.

From: CHESSBOARDER Date: January 14, 2010 at 14:59
I'm asking myself all the time, what am i hearing on this Album? Danger Danger or Def Leppard? The first two Albums of Danger Danger are really fantastic AOR, this Album too, but it sounds too strong Def Leppard-Like, also the Voices.

From: rocksoul Date: September 28, 2010 at 11:37
this come back is a great realease. ted poley is a great lead voice but all band is at the top. I like also paul laine but in effect, ted poley is on the band. unfortunatly paul laine, I think, was always against ted poley' ghost but paul laine for me is a great singer.

From: Hair metal hero Date: May 23, 2012 at 14:16
Have these guys ever made a bad record? Well Dawn wasn't a huge success with me, but apart from that they only have good discs. This one was a superb comeback disc with Ted on vox. Good party rock that always makes me happy when listening to it. 92/100

From: HEAVY PARADISE Date: June 23, 2012 at 13:00
JUST PERFECT!!!!!!

From: hair metal again Date: April 30, 2014 at 11:42
excellent release once again by DANGER DANGER !updated but always keeping the basics in a high level, they still manage to write great songs!surely one of the best releases of the last years!

From: edwithmj Date: May 29, 2015 at 8:42
Five years on and I still find myself coming back to this very consistent album so it's time to expand! The title track is a great opener and roars the album into life; Ghost of Love: what a riff and a super solo; Killin' Love has great vocals and a pounding rhythm; Hearts on the Highway is commercial rock that is guaranteed to stay in your head for days. Fugitive is a mellow acoustic ballad that really shows the versatility and emotion of Poley's vocals. Keep on Keepin' On is very upbeat and is probably the song that best captures that true Danger Danger sound we know and love. Rocket to Your Heart is the other ballad and again, shows off Poley's range and emotion. F.U.$ probably has the best solo on the disc and it's certainly another commercial rocker. Beautiful Regret has excellent catchy vocals and a chorus that will stick in your head for weeks, trust me. Never Give Up is probably my least favourite. Dirty Mind ends the disc with another upbeat tune. More please!

From: Ponen Date: February 23, 2016 at 8:20
Fantastic album!! I rate this very highly. Might even surpass a couple of their best releases with Andy Timmons. Almost all of the songs are of the highest quality..very well crafted. DD is one of my favourite bands of all time. And to see them make a killer record such as this, am the happiest. Personal favs are - Hearts on the highway, Fugitive, Rocket to your heart, Never Give Up & F.U $.
