Cool disc... if you like punk. Which I don't. So in actual fact it sucked dog balls. lol. Seriously disappointed with this CD. If you liked either their debut or The Things CD, don't expect this to sound anything like either, even if there are a few songs on here that appeared on The Things disc. To me this was more punk than glam/sleaze rock. Not recommended. |

As with most bands, Swingin’ Thing’s sound changed and matured as they grew as musicians. For ST, they gradually got punkier as time went on, until they (minus Paul Bardot) eventually formed the completely punk group Faceplant after ST broke up. This album is comprised of songs they recorded while signed to Hollywood records before they were dropped, and it’s a departure from their previous sound for sure. If you're looking for party rock and ballads, you won’t find them here. That’s not to say that they're completely unrecognizable though; previous fans should enjoy tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10 which are classic ST with a harder edge. Tracks 6, 7, 8, and 11 show them flexing their punk muscles, and the rest fall somewhere in the middle. The Chris Penketh vocal tracks are fun additions, but I doubt anyone would mind if they were excluded. If punk isn't your thing, this can probably be skipped. For those with an open mind though, there's still a lot to like here! My rating is a 75/100 |
