Did these guys ever release a full length cd?

From: nitrodoll Date: September 10, 2002 at 4:32
yes dave they did release a full lenght cd, but post mortem sort of speak..the name was changed into 'the things' and it was released on 'bombastic plastic' in 1998 by Erik turner and Tommy Thayer....The things broke up in 1994...nitrodoll1974@hotmail.com

From: Paulo-Fernandes Date: September 11, 2002 at 15:44
Good cd, but nothing more, overpriced...

From: TIM Date: September 14, 2002 at 0:25
I agree with Paulo-Fernandes. About 2 of the songs rock and the rest are filler. Very overpriced.

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: October 4, 2002 at 7:23
I have the Things full length cd. It's pretty good. Lemme know, anybody, and I'll burn ya' a copy. cottoncandylover20022000@yahoo.com (wow, that's a long one!!)

From: METAL 4 EVER Date: October 11, 2002 at 19:24
David, they did record a full length album as Swingin' Thing(Things That Swing) befor they became The Things, but unfortunately it was never pressed. Which is to bad, because it is a really cool album. It has some really cool ballads on this one. they sound more like Tryx and Pretty Boy Floyd (Leather Boyz) on this album. I was fortunate to get a burned copy of it from some guy (I don't know how the heck he got it). Keep you eyes and ears out, it might get released (I hope so). Metal 4 Life

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 11, 2002 at 19:59
They also have an 18 demo track they did as Swingin Thing. . plus a 15 track called 'Hey Kid'

From: David Date: November 29, 2002 at 6:27
Is the new release from Metal Mayhem the same band as these guys?

From: Jerzy Date: December 16, 2002 at 23:53
I'm a lucky owner of The Things album. They borrow the raw energy of the debut releases of GunsNRoses and Skid Row and combine it with some elements of sleaze, the outcome being somewhere near Tuff's second album. Excellent. The cliche that they would have been big if it hadn't been for the explosion of grunge suits them better than any other band.METAL 4 EVER,if you're from SLC area and you wouldn't mind burning another copy of the record you're talkin about, let me know. motley7788@yahoo.com

From: jayglam@hotmail Date: March 4, 2003 at 7:00
Swingin Thing were an above average glam band. Things that swing is very good. They changed their image from glam to more punk later. Worth checking out. Jay from Australia.

From: HairMetalManiac Date: March 12, 2003 at 0:17
This isn't a bad CD but maybe a bit overpriced as it is hard to come by. Groove of Love is the best track on the disc and ALMOST worth the price you have to pay for it...the rest isn't bad but nothing stands out like Groove of Love...Rock on!....

From: TIM Date: March 12, 2003 at 0:49
Have to agree with you on that HairMetalManiac.

From: TheRipper Date: March 12, 2003 at 2:35
I personally like 'Let's do it with the lights on' the best, it sounds really 'L.A' and was a favorite of theirs when they performed live. Stellar glam release, glam fans should look into it, not bad at all, actually I think this release is great for what it's worth (a collectible). Recommended, especialy to a glam fan who wants to hear a real LA strip band of the late 80's/early 90's... I would have liked to have seen these guys release a full length on a label just to see what woulda happened.

From: Tony Date: March 19, 2003 at 1:49
In the summer of 90' I was in L.A. visiting and these guys flyers were f$#kin EVERYWHERE!!! To this day I even still have a few of them because I just thought they looked so cool and 'metal' you know..LOL I have the 'Things' album also and it souns like a complete 180 from the band that was portrayed in the flyers a few years earlier. Not bad at all though and kind of does a good job of fusing glam with more hard 'punk' rock. I have some LA trade mags with these guys in them too still.

From: anamal Date: March 19, 2003 at 4:11
does any body on this site actually have all the releases that Monster put out,1.crywolf 2.rattlesnake shake 3.taz / cold shoulder 4. swingin thing 5 . pair-a-dice..(i even asked paul lancia about the availability of this and he told me that it was released by monster..but i have yet to know anyone that has it. it is the only one i dont have !!!

From: TIM Date: March 19, 2003 at 4:48
I saw it on Ebay twice about a year and a half ago but never since. I should have bought it then.

From: superglam Date: March 28, 2003 at 16:01
The album released in 1992 than the band called The Things

From: ERIK Date: April 16, 2003 at 11:25
Bought this one because I had heard that they were one of the big acts on the sunset strip back in the days. But when I listened to the CD I couldn't understand that. (Personally, I think that Unleashed with Wild Boyz is much better, just to mention one of many.) However, when I listened to their demo Things That Swing, I understood why this band were considered to be one of the best! Try to get that one instead! (I downloaded it from Direct Connect - metal.no-ip.info)...

From: mike Date: April 16, 2003 at 14:33
Erik, how do you download it? email me at mamedia@mchsi.com thanks!

From: ERIK Date: April 26, 2003 at 22:41
Mike, did you get my e-mail? I hope you found the songs!

From: tomcat Date: May 15, 2003 at 19:34

From: Boyd Date: October 7, 2003 at 13:15
Hi Dudez... SWINGIN THING really kicked ass, were one of the greatest LA sleazy rock bandz from early 90's. Their first/last realease has only 5 tracks: 'Lets Do It With The Lights On' and 'Supersonic Loverboy' bring us back the 80's summertime hits style very similar to Poison.. 'On The Run' were a a great ballad, 'Groove Of Love' sounds so different and 'Ave Boys' kickkkk assss. 10 on 10 bud. I'm from Brazil but watched their concerts at Sunset '91. Great band with a short career.

From: BOYD Date: October 7, 2003 at 13:21
...hey i also have alot their (and other bandz) items for sale/trade. I have SWINGIN THING live at THE ROXY 91, in VHS/DVD... Their HOMEVIDEO, and some shots from their appearance at SUNSET STRIP HOME VIDEO. I have tons of videos from bandz like PRETTY BOY FLOYD, BIG BANG BABIES, POISON (feat. their tv appearance as PARIS '84), BON JOVI, VIXEN, RATT, ENUFF ZNUFF, DANGER DANGER, TIGERTAILZ, SLEEZE BEEZ, TUFF, WHITESNAKE,

Pretty good glam CD, but I wouldn't DREAM of paying $62 for it! 'Groove of Love'(best track here),'Let's Do It With the Lights On', and 'Avenue Boys' are good (Groove is GREAT!)....tracks 2 & 5 aren't. Basically, fans of Poison, Warrant,D2, and bands with that 'strip club' sound would most likely enjoy this.Find someone who has this, and snag a CD-R from 'em...DO NOT pay $60 or more for 3 out of 5 good songs!

From: LOU Date: January 20, 2004 at 0:01
I HAVE THE THINGS S/T CD THAT WAS RELEASED IN 1998 & PRODUCED BY ERIK TURNER. IT IS BRAND NEW (NO SHRINKWRAP). IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT cmp725@earthlink.net

From: Mike h Date: June 3, 2004 at 21:39
I have the THINGS self-titled cd that i was able to get off my guitar teacher whose cousin is Henry Kelly.

From: Dean Date: June 11, 2004 at 18:55
I don't quite agree with Whiplash1972 and Tim because i think all the tunes are pretty good but i def. would not pay over 20.00 for this. It's pretty killer glam and a perfect example of the strip sound but some of the bootlegs of these guys have over 10+ tunes on there that you can usually nab for less on ebay. Still need to get the Things cd-though.

From: Marla *MJ* Date: June 21, 2004 at 14:28
Good stuff.....but no, I wouldn't (couldn't) pay the 60+ bucks for it...GREAT to have good friends!! Listening to 'Groove Of Love' right now....hmmm....I see where 'someone' gets a few of his lines from!! LOL!!! Am I nuts....or do I hear some LA Guns in here?? Just a bit...but that's who comes to mind...

From: Geoff Date: September 20, 2004 at 18:34
A few points I agree with above, and a few points in general. Yes, this is a decent glam EP - I especially like 'On the run', and overall most the tracks are good, but it is definately not even close to being worth that $60 pricetag. The Things were okay, but better as Swingin' Thing at this point in time, and the saddest fact of the matter is that the demos about the place feature MUCH better songs than on here, or on The Things CD. This one is pretty good though, for cheap.

From: J Campbell Date: September 22, 2004 at 16:13
Well they look cool. I've only heard the song 'Let's Do It With The Lights On.' It didn't knock me out. I'd like to hear more but there's know way I'd pay $60 for a 5 song CD, or a 10 song cd for that matter. From what I've read, the demo's are much better, anybody have any where to get a hold of these?

From: Date: November 1, 2004 at 6:16
swingin thing was an awsome band to see live when they showed up in phx az they would blow the town apart- paul the singer was later in suckerpunch another band that was extremley cool-

From: Jerzy Date: November 19, 2004 at 6:20
I love every single note played on this album, on every song recorded by Swingin'Thing. To me, they were a perfect crue, the best band on the Sunset Strip. Suckerpunch, although real good too, doesn't hold a candle to Swingin' Thing and the factory-worker look that they sported was beyond hopeless.

From: Date: November 20, 2004 at 5:22
marcsnow1@yahoo.com.br Great fuckin band

From: C.J. Scheck Date: December 21, 2004 at 18:56
I have a RARE 5 song cd demo with a pink, blank and white cover (all the same songs that's on this cd) . I paid $5.00 for this cd from the bands fan club mid '90's (i think). Does anyone know how many of these cd's was made? Any fans or band members PLEASE write. saltydog419@webtv.net

From: BETSY BROWNING Date: February 5, 2005 at 21:46
OMG, CHRIS, I hope you come back here and read this, it's Betsy: betsylou802@yahoo.com EMAIL me please!!!! SWINGIN' THING were one of my favorite Hollywood bands back in the 80's. I still have several flyers from the strip and the demo that Chris gave to me back in 1988 (I think!) What a great bunch of guys too....never knew about The Things though...

From: David Date: February 5, 2005 at 21:51
Betsy, were you some kind of sunset strip whore or something???

From: Dean Date: February 6, 2005 at 15:26
David -piss off. The whole reason alot of bands first got into music was the women-now when any of those women speak up-they are treated like trash.

From: David Date: February 6, 2005 at 17:39
It was just a question mean Dean..

From: Dean Date: February 7, 2005 at 10:06
And oh so funny

From: longhairjoe Date: August 25, 2005 at 20:49
suncity records have signed these guys and we will finally get a chance to hear this stuff sounding the way it should of,suncity did an awesome job with blue tears and i cant wait to get my copy of school boy crush.

From: David Date: November 24, 2005 at 3:53
Swingin' Thing - Keep On Swingin' is now available through www.suncityrecords.com Swingin' Thing - Keep On Swingin' is just the best Glam/Sunset Strip CD I have heard since the heyday of the late 80's, early 90's. I call it Dr. Feelgood part 2, it's that good and the production is awesome as well partly because it has been re-mastered by Mr. Fulkerson. Comes with outstanding artwork featuring cool coloured pictures and lyrics. IT DOESN'T COME ANY BETTER THAN THIS!! BUY BUY BUY!!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 29, 2006 at 19:18
They performed live in Venezuela along with Radio Moscow.Good performance!!!.I remenber that was at the beginning of the 90's.Awesome.

From: shark attack Date: December 29, 2008 at 14:36
Glammed up LA sleaze bags with the best hair of the early 90's. Keeping it real while the rest of the world turned a putrid shade of flannel, this EP is a solid mix of Alleycat Scratch, Poison and Motley Crue, all bound together in a tastfully packaged testament to the power of dayglo colours and aqua net hairspray. There might be a thousand better bands out there but when the ship's sinking, it takes balls to throw away the life jacket cos it might spoil your fluffed up, backcombed hair!!!60 ozone melting points out of 100.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 22, 2010 at 22:15
As i stated in 2006..this lot came in the early 90's with 3 other bands to my country (Venezuela) and was the best act from them all(especially in the performance)..now finally i got this mini album or Ep and is quite pleasant..'Avenue Boys' is pure glam, a very good starter,'On The Run' is pretty nice,'Groove Of Love' is very cool,'Let's Do It With The Lights On' a fave one and...is there something else 2 add???...hahaha...'Supersonic Loverboy' is a highlight...maybe this lot was and still is overshadowed by big names of the genre but if u want something different from the traditional bands then ST could be an option, not the best band ever but surely has something 2 offer.....84/100
