Great playing on this CD, but you can already tell he was starting to get pretentious. |

For a start I shouldn't have to tell anybody who STEVE VAI is (even though some of you might reply with STEVE WHO? for a laugh!!!).This is a very good album but unfortunately you can not listen to all the tracks more than about 3 times. As for tracks 1,3,7,8,9,11 & parts of 10, they are f***in' first class tracks. Well worth buying the album for. If you like your wailing IBANEZ' and roaring fretwork, get your hands on this guitar masterpeice!!!!! |

What a great start to guitar music of the 90's! Mr. Vai in full throttle with his 7 string axe. This is probably the first album to listen to if you want a taste of his music. I do think, however, that his virtuosity, experimentation and, at times, weird and wacky style might leave all but the true rockers and axemaniacs a little confused and bewildered. Maybe not as confused as some of his latest offerings though. As a guitarist I was amazed by this album. Enjoy as many have done before you!! |

How many instrumental cd's out there today on the market could a person play in a public setting & draw a huge crowd of spellbound listeners, especially the whole album? Not many, but this is one. An amazing instrumental cd that begs attention. Vai's masterpiece. Essential Listening. |

This is by far one of the best instrumental albums out there. He got a little funky later on in his career but this is is just stellar !! This is a must have for any guitar player and for anyone who just likes rock'n'roll. 92/100 for an instrumental album. |

pretty good instrumental release by STEVE VAI with his unique sound and approach!"the riddle " and "for the love of god" are great songs ,but overall the rest isnt as catchy as it should be although the musicianship is excellent!ok release ,a classic instrumental of its era |

Hit and miss this one. I've never been a huge fan of Vai, not least because he's horrendously overrated and lauded as some sort of guitar-God when he's slightly above average at best. The decent tracks here are excellent while the filler is terrible. Liberty is a decent opener and quite melodic too, Erotic Nightmares is filler garbage. The Animal is quite decent and has a hard edge too. Answers is probably my favourite as it's very melodic. The Riddle is hoorendous and has too much spoken vocals in it which are a pain to listen to. Ballerina is completely unnecessary and skippable. For the Love of God is OK but never leads to anything exciting and just fizzles out I feel. Audience is terrible while I would Love To is another winner and probbaly my second favourite. The rest of the album is too boring for me to remember. Average instrumental rock with a progressive edge. |

Really cool album. Steve Vai is such a unique guitar player. I remember being blown away as a kid by his ability to make his guitar talk. I've never really heard anyone else who could do that. |
