This is a cool cd, with catchy songs, along the lines of Billy Idol. I Enjoy listening to it now and then.

From: P.C. Date: August 16, 2002 at 19:28
I donīt know who D.Drew is , but i like his music . Cd is full of simply good rock songs . Best shot "City of Fire" . DREW = IDOL( colour of voice ).

From: Rene Date: April 23, 2003 at 21:44
I think his look is better then his music. Not very interesting i think but he looks GREATTTTTTTT. Pure tipical 80s. Cool.

From: Trick Taylor Date: September 24, 2003 at 15:06
WOW! This one brings me back. Even in 88 this was lighter than most, a true AOR album, Guiffria meets Idol at Charlie Sexton's house. I hate to admit it, but I still love this. The songs shy away from typical metal cliche and therefore stand the test of time. Nary a word was heard from him again. Anyone know what he is doing? Consider yourself very lucky if you can find this on CD. Ranks with Andy Taylor's "Thunder" as great late-80's underappreciated AOR.

one fine rock n roll album that can compare with the best songs of billy idol..buy it if ya have the chance

From: DavidDrewGroupi Date: November 13, 2003 at 12:12
I found this on vinyl in the dollar bin at a record store IN MINT CONDITION. I got it just for the photos which are so bad that no one would have beleived me without the album in hand. surprisingly the music is not as bad as I had hoped, however even in 1988 it must have been "so five minutes ago" in response to Tricks question about Mr Drews whereabouts: He is at home washing the mousse out of his hair

From: Rockpig! Date: November 14, 2003 at 18:34
Worth getting for the cover of Sugarloaf's "Green Eyed Lady" alone! Killer cover tune done up in the Billy Idol/Steve Stevens fashion. Should have been a big hit! So-so on the rest of the album.

From: Sean Date: December 30, 2003 at 16:35
I played drums with David for 10 years, including the tour for this record and I appeared on the video for Green Eyed Lady, which made it to medium rotation on MTV and #23 AOR. He now has a successful music for TV and Film business, and is about to release a great blues CD. He is also a fishing guide and he cut off all of his hair. He is a great guy with a great sense of humor. I am forwarding these comments because he will get a kick. We were very different people back then! Blessings. S

I'm looking for Dave Darby, who played bass with the band on tour. Anyone got a line on him??

From: D. Drew Date: January 14, 2004 at 3:40
Hey Dweeb, Don't know where Darby is at. If You should find him let me know. This is funny stuff. I like the washing the mouse out of the hair stuff. What can I tell ya dude it was the 80's and I kinda got sidetracked. At least we all survived(barely). I'm back to playin' what I started with at 10 yrs old...blues. Stratocasters,Fishing Boats,.. and Harley Davidsons....no more mouse. Dweeb reply on this page and Perhaps we can correspond.Glad to know a couple of folks got a kick out of that record

From: Trick Taylor Date: January 14, 2004 at 18:14
Hey Dan- Pretty cool that you created a site where fans can reach the long lost like Mr. Drew! As for you, if you are the real Safety Love-Monger, congrats on moving on. I wish we could all get together (David Drew, K Lee Lauren, the Wildside Boys, etc), have a few beers and shoot the breeze. Hey Dan, how about the first annual Heavy Harmonies weekend! T-Bone, Tomcat, Nitrodoll, Blue Charvel, Freddy, and of course Trick, trading, talking, and drinking. Perfect.

Cool beans, I'll bring the beer. Who do you think Freddy will show up as, himself or his "Freaky" alter-ego?

From: DREWFAN Date: February 28, 2004 at 14:29
Yo, I purchased this masterpiece at the dollar store in a mall that no longer exists.Since then, I have chronicled David's career, and written several haikus about him. It's been great.I've even paid tribute to the Drewster, by honoring him in a wall painting at my gramma's, where I like to pretend that he lives in the little house by the river of a small snowy town. Right next to the house o pancakes!I mean, with classics like "Machine Gun Love", how can you go wrong? This cd is "DREWRIFFIC"!

From: dwilson Date: March 31, 2004 at 4:57
Hey...David Drew are you the classical music artist? Why did you put out a heavy metal rock album?

From: Sean Date: March 31, 2004 at 12:22
I am Drew's friend and old drummer. He is not the classical Artist. He has an awesome blues record just about finished though!

From: dwilson Date: April 5, 2004 at 15:52
Hi Sean, Who is this David Drew? Was or is he famous and how does one find out more about him? And do you know the reference to "the little house by the river of a small snowy town. Right next to the house o pancakes"? It seems all very interesting that a person with one album made in the 80's has fans? I think I know Kasim Sultan.

...Funny... I'm listening to the original "Green Eyed Lady" on the radio, and wondered what ever happened to David Drew. One google search later and here I am. I can be reached at: "sfdoubled@yahoo.com" I live/work in San Francisco, still playing bass and playing in a new, upstart rock and roll band. Cheers. -Dave D.

From: Kevin McBride Date: August 30, 2004 at 19:49
I grew up with Drew! He's the reason I stopped playing guitar - he was just so much better than me that I thought I should try something else. Something that people should know about him - he is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet and a great athlete (basketball) as well. I bought his CD back in the 80's and have been wondering what he's up to. Hope you're doing fine! I live in Valencia, CA now so drop a line.

From: Size W Bigness Date: September 9, 2004 at 21:22
How the hell did I land on this page? Hey Mr. Drew, drop me a line and let me know how you're doing. I'm still touring, living in Oregon. In touch with Eulau... unclemikey@compuserve.com Size.

Vey original AOR, and this is what makes this cd special...i agree with Billy Idol similarities....this reminds also very much Kenny Mclean -Don't look back(1990)...

This is a Good Rock album with a lot of energy, Si seņores un buen album de Rock lleno de energia un cruce entre el Legendario Billy Idol(por la voz y estilo) y el tremendo album de Charlie Sexton(Pictures for Pleasure, que no llega a este pero tiene cierto aire en temas), cortes con punche como Safety Love, City of Fire, Common Emotion, Girl in the Window un album que nada tiene que ver con el AOR, pero si te gusta el buen Rock inconfundible del sonido 80 te gustara.

From: FLmetalhead517 Date: June 22, 2006 at 4:47
Ahhh David Drew. I remember picking this LP up at the record store. Totally 80s to the max! All the tracks I found were good like "Safety Love", "Common Emotion", "City of Fire" and "She's the One". "Pretty Baby" is my least favorite track 'cause it sounded too pop-ish. Overall a great album. 8.5 out of 10

From: Koji Records Date: July 12, 2009 at 16:46
I worked at MCA Records when this great album was released. "Green Eyed Lady" was issued on a green vinyl, white label promo 45 rpm single to radio. Needless to say, when AOR and some Top 40 stations played it, their phones blew up with requests, everyone demanding to play the song again and who was singing this hot remake? At the time of the "Safety Love" album release, MCA Records was being made into a rock label, steering it away from the R & B/crossover success it had been enjoying for several years. This album had much AOR/Top 40 potential with "Green Eyed Lady" and "Safety Love" for AOR rock stations, alongside "Common Emotion" and "She's The One" for Top 40. I pulled the album out of my CD closet not too long ago and the songs still hold up after 2 decades. Sure there were comparisons to Idol, but David Drew had his own style of rock that made him stand apart from the rest. Glad to see others making comments echoing my sentiments about this great, classic album. David Drew rocks

From: hair metal again Date: September 17, 2009 at 7:23
if you can imagine a melodic hard rock mix of billy idol and u2 ,then you have an idea of this release.not rock enough ,not pop enough david drew prooves to be a talented artist with his own sound and many good songs.sometimes hard edged guitars, sometimes big keyboards this one is very interesting.supported by a major label (MCA)the sound is perfect.this isn t for easy listening and it s pretty anti-metal.interesting release ,but not top class though
