Cat Scratch Fever is perhaps the best track ever written in that genre. The Riff is phenomenal. There are some fillers on this cd, but damn is it good to listen to music from that period. |

"Cat Scratch Fever" has the hands down grand champion hall of fame all time guitar riff EVER!!! It's sexy, raw, animalistic, and has such a genius in it's simplicity. That song is sex put into the form of a song. Put that song on at ANY party and watch the wolves circle the sheep!! First riff I ever learned on guitar. |

Ted Nugent is a fuckin animal!!! |

This is my favorite Nugent album, really hard rocker, the highlights are Sweet Sally, Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, the title track and the interesting instrumental Homebound. Nugent at it best |

Their first and by far their best album. Nice, keyboard-orientated AOR (I love keys, without keys, no AOR !!!!) of the highest order. A real must for every AOR freak and the track 'Wang Dang Sweet Poontang' is simply breathtaking (that's what I want to hear, lots of keys !). A MUST !!!!! |

wow, I thought Derek did some lead vocal work on this cd????? |

Derek returns and the world is good again. "Cat Scratch Fever" is a first-rate rock 'n roll classic. This set of brash hard rockers come very close to matching the intensity of the self titled debut. Of course the title track is the one and only Top 30 single that Ted ever produced in the 70's, which just goes to show you that you can still sell millions of records without being a chart topper or trend hopper. http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/tednugentcds.htm |

Uncle Ted is right on target here. Spinning guitar work and blazing riffs. Superb! |
From: rick kerch vzla | Date: November 4, 2011 at 10:21 |
in agreement with Propane's comment!..uncle Ted was a mad axeman in here ...the album has two of the most representative Ted's songs ever("Cat Scrath Fever" & "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang")plus some other goodies such as "Death By Misadventure","Workin' Hard,Playin' Hard","Fist Fightin' Son Of A Gun" & "Out Of Control"...recommended...88/100 |

Pound for pound, this is probably Ted's best single album, along with the debut. Some of his best-known songs are here, along with cool deep cuts (I especially like the Latin-tinged "Live It Up"), a decent instrumental, and only a couple filler tracks in the second half. The guitar sound is razor-sharp for 1977, and Ted's fire and gusto as a player make up for any lack of technical skill. Derek St. Holmes is credited with "backing vocals," which is unfair, a typically tyrannical move from Ted at the time, because Derek actually sings lead on several songs (Ted had started taking the soon-to-be hits for himself). Also, a version of "Death By Misadventure" was recorded with Derek on harmonica, but didn't make the album because Ted didn't want to be upstaged. Anyway, this album is a '70's metal classic, and a cornerstone of Ted's career. |

pretty good release by NUGENT ,of course including the classic mega hit Cat Scratch Fever which still sounds so hard rockin!Tom Werman produces ,Ted plays as much as he can and Derek s voice is excellent!the songwriting could be better ,but overall the result is a solid hard rock release recommended to everyone! |

One of those albums that influenced so many glam metallers a decade later. Of course, Cat Scratch Fever is The Nuge's best song, but there are other great tracks like the belter instrumental Homebound and the sleazy Wang Dang Sweet Poontang. If you only can get one Nugent album this is it. Essential for a classic hard rock collection. Grade A. |
