This is a posthumous (I think) compilation from our favorite Rust Belt rebels. The first disc is a compilation of many of their best-loved songs. "Last Of A Dying Breed," "Shitkicker," "Sometimes You Eat The Pussy," "Rock 'n' Roll Dog" and "Just One More" are all here. Unfortunately, they share space with the likes of "I Keep Drinkin' (You're Still Ugly)," "Just Like Charlie Sheen" and "Bathroom Romance," and even live favorite "Drank Too Much"—songs with more than a whiff of that whole self-defeating "I'm blue-collar, therefore it's my destiny and birthright to be ignorant" thing the band dipped into at times. On the other hand, deep cuts like "TV Disease" and "Magnificent Bastard" make welcome appearances, along with a Motorhead cover and the band's very own Christmas anthem. |

The second disc offers two last Dog biscuits ("I'm Offended" is prime AD), and a full late-period live set. The live show concentrates heavily on Neanderthal, featuring eight of its ten tracks. That's fine, since that record isn't represented at all on the first disc. And of course, American Dog are a hell of a live band, so it's good to hear them in action one more time. |
